Champions of the Goddesses
The first page, of course, was a black and white graphite sketch of the cover, which Twilight had cleverly drawn to a precise detail. A starry night sky, with a crescent moon on the right, and a blazing sun to the left.
Under the picture it said:
A Tale of Young Equestria
Celestia smiled at the title, then looked at the author's name, expecting her own student's, and saw not a single typed letter, but royal Equestrian letters sprawled out in the center of the page, their big loops, and smooth curves connecting one another like one long string.
It had the illustrator's name as well, which was Twilight's as well, but this time in typed letters, like it had been stamped on by a typewriter from a newspaper writer's very own machine.
The next page was blank, save for the typed letters, letters which came from a more precise machine.
"In all my seventeen years, I have not seen such a touching thing happen in Equestria, or anything so related to the old fashioned story books, where a prince saves a princess." - Twilight V. Sparkle
Turning to the next page, Celestia began what seemed to be a wonderful story to relive...
Prologue
It had taken me longer than I had expected to ready my quill to write, and to my efforts, I put the tip to the parchment just as Queen Platinum put a hoof to her swollen belly. And thus, beginning with the birth of both Princess Celestia, and Princess Luna, a long standing war between the old Equestrians begins today.
After the servants and doctor had departed, only Commander Hurricane and the exhausted Queen Platinum were alone in the room. All was quiet, and not even the two newborn princesses uttered a single cry. At first, I could not quite see why, but after edging slowly closer, I caught the soft golden glow that each gave off. As if holy by birth, I would not doubt if they were deemed holy before the event...
That's when a large unicorn walked in, a look less than satisfaction hanging on his middle age features.
"Have you gone mad?", Hurricane hissed quietly at the stallion.
The unicorn looked over to Queen Platinum as she lay, spotting the foals without need of a second glance. He huffed, then his gaze bolted towards Hurricane once more.
"You have violate the terms of our agreement, Hurricane!", the stallion bellowed.
Immediately, the foals began their cries, not knowing of what had made the noise, or how the very air around him could feel so angry. At this point, I felt magic pouring from him even through my spectral connection to the past. If it was strong enough to do so, then I would not doubt that this particular stallion was strong.
Queen Platinum raised her head weakly, and spoke softly, shocked of the intrusion.
"King Tome! What are you doing here?", her voice quick and sharp, but still exhausted from the recent birth.
"You. A mare who knows our laws.", the stallion continued on.
Immediately, Queen Platinum's horn came to light, and she struck him with a magical spell. He retaliated quickly, trying what I can identify as a deadly ancient spell used only in executions. But, it did not over power Queen Platinum's own cast. even in her weakened state, it seemed that the stallion could not even come close to winning the small duel.
His spell dissipated, shredded like wet parchment, and the Queen's spell took hold of him fast, flashing from existence.
For a moment, I had expected that it was a strategic move, a fake spell that did no harm, and protected her as well. But whence the stallion tried to cast again, I was shocked to see that not even a single waver of magical energy was dispelled from his body.
The push against my spectral form had completely vanished, and all that was left, was the feel of his empty aura.
The stallion stomped out of the room, turning just outside the doors.
"If you think yourself wise, madame, sire, then you are heavily mistaken. You will both regret your very marriage.", he threatened.
Queen Platinum and Commander Hurricane both exchanged a glance, and the queen's horn was alight once more, sending the angered stallion away in a flash of light.
"...I fear for our daughters now, Love...", Commander Hurricane confessed.
"I too. We may not allow them to leave the castle even once. It may not end well."
"You are spent. Sleep. I will walk the halls, notify the guard."
"That would be best."
Hurricane made to pass her, and the two shared a quick nuzzle. Hurricane left directly after, shutting the large golden doors behind himself.
I phased through the walls, and as I passed farther from the throne room of the very castle they lived in, the Castle of the Royal Pony Sisters, I begin to break from the timeline, my magic not distributed well enough to keep me angered much longer. As I conclude this small beginning, I end this prologue, claiming success on a new spell, and success on discovering an ancient, untold history.
Setting forth my studies at a faster pace, I should be swimming in the spectral seas of the past once more by morning.
