A Strange Encounter

[Crossover]
Light from the transmutations of two alchemists bounced off the stone walls in an array of colors. Reds and blues lit the room as if it was noon day, when in fact the sun had already set. However, these two skilled alchemists were not just putting on a show, quite the opposite. The alchemists were locked in battle, and only one would come out of this scuffle alive.
Sweat dripped down their faces as they stepped back to catch their breath, standing at the ready in case one tried to jump the other. After a moment, one of the alchemists clapped his hands together and turned his mechanical arm into a sword and charged his opponent. His blond hair, once tied into a braid, now flows freely behind him as he charges.
The other alchemist merely steps aside and tried to grab his attacker’s head, but fails as his attacker ducks under his arm.
“Why do you resist me Edward Elric? In the end, God’s justice will reign supreme, and I as his right hand will usher it in.”
“I don’t have time to get killed!” Edward shouted. “I need to find the Philosopher’s Stone to get my brother’s body normal again! Why do you keep trying to kill us? What did we ever do to you Scar?”
Scar, an Ishvalan survivor, explained, “You are a State Alchemist. I was called by God to eradicate all those who distort the natural order of things.” He lifted his right hand, revealing a intricate transmutation circle tattooed on his arm, and touched the X shaped scar that stretched across his face. “Besides, it was State Alchemists who killed my people, and gave me this.”
“So it’s just mindless revenge then!?” exclaimed Edward.
“Reveng is merely a byproduct. The true work is bringing about God’s justice upon the Damned!”
“Brother, be careful!” Edward’s younger brother Alphonse’s voice echoed in the empty suit of armor in which his soul resided.
Not another word was spoken and Scar dashed forward without warning and raised his right arm to catch Edward’s face. The transmutation circle on his arm began to glow red as he activated his alchemy. As a reflex, Edward clapped his hands together and threw up his own right arm to meet Scars. The alchemic reaction that followed produced a bright white light and threw both alchemists back.
Scar landed flat on his back. He tried to get up and catch his breath which had been knocked out of him and blink the flash away. When he looked up, what he saw surprised him. He didn’t see Edward standing there, nor his brother Alphonse, but rather a large stone gate floating in the air before him in a place he had never been before.
“What is this? Where am I?” Scar asked, shocked and confused.
He looked around as he tried to comprehend what he was looking at. He seemed to be nowhere. All Scar could see was whiteness. He turned his attention to the gateway. He could clearly tell that it was not manmade, for the architecture and designs were not of this world. How can this be? He thought. I thought the gate only opened if a human transmutation was performed. As he looked at the gate, he noticed the door held what looked like a transmutation circle. Runes he had never seen before laced the edges of the circle. Scar slowly walked toward the gate to get a better look at it. He reached up to touch the surface when the gate began to move. The sound of stone rubbing against stone filled his ears as the gate opened up to reveal a void of total darkness. What Scar saw before him can only be described as horrifying. A giant eye opened up and stared at him as small black tentacles flew out of the crevice and grabbed his arms, legs, and torso.
Scar tried to pull free from this monster but to no avail. He was pulled into the gateway. As he was being pulled, he could feel his head being filled with all sorts of alchemic knowledge. His head felt as if it was about to burst. The last thing he saw was bright light quickly moving toward him before he blacked out.
Minutes seemed like days, hours seemed like years, but when Scar finally came too he was looking into the eyes of some bizarrely colored creature. When he looked at it again, he saw that it bore a close resemblance to a horse. Its mane was big, fluffy… and pink? In fact the horse’s entire body was pink, save for a mark on its hind quarters that resembled balloons and confetti.
“Hiya!” It said.
Scar was taken aback. Isvala, it can talk. He rubbed his eyes, trying to make what he thought was a hallucination go away, but when his hands touched his eyes they didn’t feel like hands. Scar opened his eyes. Are these… hooves? He looked over the rest of his body. Instead of skin there was dark brown fur. His hands and feet were now hooves, and he too had a strange mark on his hind end in the shape of the transmutation circle that was once tattooed on his right arm.
“I’ve never seen you around here before, and that’s strange to me because I know everyone around here. So when I saw you I was all like ‘GASP!’ because I didn’t know you, and I know everypony. What’s your name? Where are you from? What’s your favorite color?” asked the strangely colored horse.
It took a while for Scar to respond. He was too focused on his new form. Then he sat upright. “I have no name.” He explained. “Or rather my name died along with the man I once was. Where I am from, people call me Scar for obvious reasons.”
“Scar huh? That’s a funny name! My name is Pinkie Pie, but my friends just call me Pinkie! It’s nice to meetcha!”
Pinkie Pie?! What is this place? Scar’s head hurt even more than it did before. “Tell me, Pinkie Pie, what is this place? Where am I?”
“You’re just on the edge of the Everfree Forest, which I found odd since the Everfree Forest is a scary place, probably the scariest place in all of Equestria, and no pony ever goes in there.” Pinkie Pie explained.
Scar had never heard of the Everfree Forest, or Equestria for that matter. Where was it? On the other side of Xing? “Tell me Pinkie Pie, did you see how I came to be here?”
“Nope, you were asleep when I found you. Passed out right under this tree. I thought you were just having an afternoon nap. You looked like you were having a nightmare.”
I feel like I’m still in one. Scar thought to himself.
“You never said where you were from. What brings you all the way out here to Ponyville Scar?”
Scar was busy gathering his thoughts when he remembered what happened. “I was fighting the State Alchemist Edward Elric. He had just canceled my alchemy when I found myself standing before Portal of Truth, or that’s what I thought it was anyway. I remember I was being pulled through by something, then I passed out. The next thing I know I’m lying here with you hovering over me.”
Scar didn’t realize that Pinkie Pie wasn’t standing in front of him anymore until he had finished talking. He looked around to find Pinkie Pie chasing some butterflies. He scowled. “Do you know how I can get back?” He said and a rather annoyed tone.
Pinkie Pie turned to look at Scar. “Portals huh? I don’t know anything about portals or magic. but my friend Twilight does.”
Scar assumed that was an answer to his question. “Can you take me to meet this friend?” He asked.
“Oh, you wanna meet Twilight? Sure! She loves to make new friends, almost as much as I do. Follow me!” Pinkie Pie hopped off as she finished her sentence.
Scar slowly got up. His legs wobbled underneath him, but he slowly began to walk. By the time he had gone a few steps, Pinkie Pie had already bounced far ahead. “Wait!” Scar called out. Pinkie Pie suddenly appeared in front of him and shoved her face into his.
“HAHAH! You’re so funny. It’s almost like you’ve never walked before. Hurry up slow poke!” Without another word, Pinkie Pie bounced off again and Scar slowly followed after.
As they walked, Pinkie Pie asked, “So what do you do for fun?”
“I don’t have time for fun.” Scar replied.
“Oh that’s too bad. What do you like to do?” Pinkie Pie asked.
“Just because I do something doesn’t mean I like it.” Scar retorts.
“That’s a strange cutie mark. What does it mean?”
“Cutie mark?”
“Yeah! What did you do to get a cutie mark like that?”
Scar looked at the transmutation circle on his backside. He could only assume that was what she was talking about. “I am and Alchemist.” He said.
“An Alchemist? How exciting! What’s an Alchemist?”
“Enough! Are we there yet?”
“Yes siree! Twilight’s house is just around this corner.”
Scar was so distracted by Pinkie Pie’s questions he didn’t even notice that they had wandered into town. As they rounded the corner scar could only see a tree standing in the middle of the road.
“Your friend lives in a tree?” Scar asked, confused.
“Yup! This tree is also Ponyville’s library. Twilight loves books so this is the perfect place for her.” Pinkie Pie stated.
Scar noticed there were windows and a door in the tree, which he found rather odd. But then again, everything he has experienced up to this point has been odd so he decided not to question it any further.
Pinkie Pie bounded inside and yelled, “Twilight! Are you home?”
Scar walked in after her just as another voice answered. “I’m in the back. Come on in.”
Scar followed Pinkie Pie into the tree house. Books covered the walls and floor. There was a stair case on the far end of the room that led up to a plateau which held a bed, a small table with quills and paper, and even more bookcases filled with books. Another oddly colored pony walked to the edge of the plateau and looked down at them.
Scar notice that this pony had a horn sticking out of the middle of her head. The pony was also a light shade of purple with a neatly combed mane which was a darker shade of purple with two bold streaks of pink running down it. She started down the stair case and said, “Who’s your new friend Pinkie Pie?”
“Oh, this is Scar. He’s not from around here. I found him napping outside of the Everfree Forest.” Pinkie Pie explained.
“Are you the one they call Twilight?” Scar inquired.
“I am.” Twilight responded. “I’m Twilight Sparkle. It’s nice to meet you Scar.”
“Pinkie Pie said you might know something about portals. Is this true?” Scar asked.
“Portals? I think I might have a book about portals. Let me check. SPIKE!”
“Coming!” Came another voice. Scar was surprised to see that this new person was not a pony at all, but rather a lizard type creature. Its scales were also a light shade of purple. Green spikes flowed off of its head, down its back, and all the way to the end of its tail. “What do you need Twilight?” It said.
“I need you to find a book about portals.” Twilight replied.
“I don’t think we have a book about portals. And if we do I don’t remember seeing it. At least not here.” It said. “Why do we need it anyway?”
“Scar was just asking about it, that’s all.”
“Who’s Scar?” It asked.
“I am.” Scar cut in.
It looked at Scar and stared for a moment. “Well hi. I’m Spike. Nice to meet ya.” Scar grunted as a response.
Spike turned to Twilight and whispered, “What’s with this guy?”
Twilight replied, “I don’t know. I’ve never seen him before.”
Scar stared them down until they broke off their conversation.
“Um… I don’t think we have a book about portals. But there might be one in Canterlot.” Twilight said with a tinge of uneasiness.
“I want you to get it and use it to take me back to Ammestis.” Scar demanded. He was becoming annoyed.
“Uh, I’m kind of in the middle of something right…”
“Do it later.” Scar cut her off. “The fate of my people depends on my swift return.”
“Scar, don’t be so rude!” Pinkie Pie scolded.
“Fine. I’ll get the book.” Twilight groaned. “But I won’t be able to get it too you until late tonight.”
“I don’t have that kind of time.” Scar said as he turned and walked out the door.
“Hey, where ya goin?” Pinkie called after him.
“To try and figure out a way to get back myself.” Scar called back.
Pinkie, Twilight, and Spike watched him walk out of sight before Spike asked, “What’s his problem?”
“Yeah, he seems a little on edge. What’s going on?” Twilight added.
“He’s a little upset.” Replied Pinkie Pie.
“Well duh.” Said Spike. “But about what?”
“He said that he was in a big fight with some other pony when some sort of magical alketree happened that sent him here. He says that he has a job he needs to do and he can’t do it here.” Pinkie Pie explained.
“That’s strange.” Said Twilight. “I’m a little curious as to what happened. Maybe if I read that book about portals I’ll find out how he got here and how to send him back.”
“That would be AWESOME!” Pinkie Pie shouted. “I’ll go tell Scar.” She dashed off after him but then stopped and went back to Twilight and Spike. “Oh, I almost forgot to mention, I’m throwing a surprise welcome party for Scar to help cheer him up. You guys should come!”
“I’ll try to make it if I can get that book quickly enough.” Twilight said. “I’d like to ask him more about how he got here. It sounds interesting.”
“That guy is too weird. But I do love your parties Pinkie, so I’m totally there.” Spike added.
“Great! See you guys there.” Pinkie Pie exclaimed, then chased after Scar.
Scar wandered around town for a while, trying to find a good spot where he can try to recreate the alchemic reaction. He stopped in a part of town that was relatively empty and tried to activate his alchemy. To his dismay, alchemy didn’t seem to work in this world. He cursed under his breath and sat down to think. As he sat there his stomach started to rumble. He hadn’t eaten anything since he came to this world. He looked around and noticed a small booth filled with apples. It didn’t seem like anyone was around to watch after it.
Scar stood up and nonchalantly walked over to the booth and found the biggest, reddest apple he could find. He found one that looked tasty and was about to pick it up when suddenly a he heard a voice. “Howdy partner! You lookin’ to buy some apples? Well you’ve come to the right place.”
Scar turned around to find yet another oddly colored pony. This one was orange in color with a few white speckles under each eye and a long blonde mane topped with a strange hat. She stared at him with big green eyes that looked like there were expecting something.
“Hey, Ah’ve never seen ya around here before. What’s yer name?” She asked him.
“I have none. But you may address me as Scar. That’s what my enemies call me at least.” Scar replied.
“Enemies? Well Ah aint your enemy. What can Ah call you?” She inquired.
“Scar.” He stated.
“Alrighty then, Mr. Scar,” She said. “Mah name is Applejack. What can Ah get you? Ah got all sorts of apples to choose from, Red Delicious, Sour Green, Golden Crisp, you name it, Ah got it!”
“I have no money to offer you.” Scar said.
“No money, huh? That’s a shame. Say, where’d you say you were from?” Scar told her his story of how he came to be here and what he did in order to do so.
After hearing his story, Applejack said, “Well I’ll be. That’s quite a story there Mr. You must be pretty hungry after an experience like that. Tell you what, why don’t you take an apple, any apple you like. It’s on the house.” Scar thankfully took the apple he had chosen before and quickly devoured it.
“Thank you for your generous offer. If there is anything I can do to repay you…” Scar said.
“Oh don’t you worry your pretty little head about it. Ah’m just happy to help some pony out.” She said.
Scar had just walked out of sight when Pinkie Pie arrived at Applejack’s booth. “Hey have you seen a pony with a scar across his face walk by here?” Pinkie Pie asked.
Applejack replied, “Oh you know him? He just walked off that-a-way. He seems a little down in the dumps if you ask me.“
“I know! That’s why I’m throwing him a surprise welcome party tonight at my house! You wanna come?” asked Pinkie Pie.
“Ah sure as heck would.” Said Applejack. “Ah’ll be over as soon as Ah finish up here.”
“Awesome! See you there!” Pinkie Pie said, then ran off after Scar.
Scar’s nerves started to relax as he walked down Main Street. His face began to soften as he looked at all the shops and the different ponies going about their business. Just when he was almost fully relaxed and sort of enjoying himself he heard a familiar voice. He looked over his shoulder to see if he could identify who it was, although he already had a pretty good idea of who it was. Much to his chagrin, Scar saw Pinkie Pie bouncing after him. His once relaxed nerves were shot again. His face hardened and he continued to move forward.
Pinkie Pie finally caught up to him and immediately started pestering him with questions and requests.
“Hey Scar I’ve been looking all over for you. Well actually not all over because you couldn’t have gone many places in only a few shot minutes. So I see you met Applejack. What did you guys talk about? What did you think of her? Why are you walking so slowly? Hey wanna come over to my place?”
Scar didn’t say anything.
“You’re so quiet. I like that about you. The strong and silent type. That’s totally you! Hey, you should come over to my place and hang out!”
Scar once again said nothing.
“Awe, come on! Why don’t you want to come over? We could have so much fun! I’ve got so many cool things planned! You should totally come! PLEASE!!!”
Without facing her, he said, “If I agree to accompany you to your home, will you stop bothering me?”
“Okie dokie lokie!” agreed Pinkie Pie, and she turned Scar in the opposite direction. Together they made their way to her house.
Scar never liked back tracking. It reminded him of his past. As they walked he thought of his home, his family, his people, and how they were all taken from him. Thinking about this made him grimace. Pinkie Pie noticed this as she walked next to him
I wonder how I can cheer him up. My party should be able to do that, but how am I going to keep his mind off of whatever’s bothering him? Just then a streak of color blew past them not ten feet from the ground. “Oh! It’s Rainbow Dash.” She said excitedly.
“Hmm?” Grunted Scar.
“Hey, Dashie! HEY!” Pinkie Pie screamed as she tried to flag down whatever it was that blew past them.
The blur turned around and sped straight toward them. Scar’s eyes grew wide. He thought that whoever this Rainbow Dash was, he or she was going to crash right into them. Scar Jumped into some bushes on the side of the road trying to evade the oncoming projectile. The blur stopped right in front of Pinkie Pie.
“Heya Pinkie. What’s goin’ on?” Rainbow Dash asked.
“I’m just taking my new friend over to my place for a special surprise, you wanna come?” Pinkie Pie replied.
“That sounds like a blast. I can’t wait to… Hey! Where is your friend?” Rainbow Dashed looked around trying to locate this mystery friend. Scar poked his head out of the bushes and snorted.
“Hey, nice scar. What are you doing in the bushes anyway?”
“Trying not to get killed.” Scar said sardonically.
“Oh, sorry about that. I was just trying to beat my speed record until Pinkie Pie called me down. Anyway, I’ll see you at your place Pinkie!” Rainbow Dash called as she sped away.
“See ya there!” Pinkie Pie called back.
“Is she always like this?” Scar inquired.
“Yup, that’s Rainbow Dash! She’s always trying to beat something.” Pinkie Pie said giddily.
Scar groaned thinking that she was going to be at Pinkie Pie’s with them. Whatever this “surprise” was it had better be good.
As they rounded one last corner Pinkie Pie shouted, “There it is!” Scar looked at the building standing in front of them. The architecture was the strangest he had ever seen. It was a large multi story building painted pink and white. Windows dotted the exterior. A stair case of only a few steps led to a large door with a sign hanging over it. The sign appeared to have some sort of pastry painted on it. They looked like… cupcakes?
“Come on, let’s go.” Pinkie Pie beckoned Scar to move toward the strange building. They moved up the steps and into the door way. As Scar past over the threshold he heard a deafening “SURPRISE!” Scar stepped back and looked onward in horror. Everyone he had met before, and more, save for Twilight, stood before him. They all looked at him smiling and greeting him. Scar slowly walked into the room and made his way toward Pinkie Pie. “Is this the big surprise you were talking about?” He asked gruffly.
“Yuppidy yup yup! It’s a welcome party just for you!” Her words oozed with glee and excitement as she spoke. Scar felt sick. He had never been to a party before, let alone a party for him.
“Howdy there partner! How’ve ya been?” Applejack walked up to scar, stopped, and crossed her legs as she stood there in front of him. Scar was somewhat glad to see her. At least she was normal, maybe.
“I’ve seen better days.” He said.
“Well this party here should brighten your spirits right up there sugarcube. Pinkie Pie throws the best parties this side of Equestria.” Applejack flipped her hair as she trotted off to the refreshment table. Scar watched her walk away when he heard Pinkie Pie’s voice calling to him again. Ishvala have mercy. What does she want now? He looked over to where her voice was coming from to see her with two unfamiliar ponies.
Scar slowly walked over to Pinkie Pie and glared at her. “What is it now?” he asked impatiently.
“I just wanted you to meet some more of my friends.” Pinkie Pie gestured to the two ponies standing beside her. One of them sized him up as she addressed him. Her long curly mane bounced as she moved her head to look at him at eye level.
“Hello there, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. My name is Rarity. How do you do?” She lifted her hoof slightly and held it there, as if she expected him to do something with it.
Scar looked at her hoof and then at her with serious, yet slightly confused eyes. Her coat was pure white except for three diamond shaped marks on her hind quarters. Scar began to recognize a pattern. It seemed like every single one of these ponies had a strange mark on his or her backside. He, unfortunately, was no exception. “I’m fine. And you?”
Rarity lowered her hoof with a look of distaste that soon evaporated into a look of pleasure. “I’m just fabulous. I love attending Pinkie Pie’s soirées, they’re just simply dashing.”
Scar’s gaze fell from Rarity to something, or someone hiding behind her. He looked around Rarity to find a small yellow pony with smaller wings and long, flowing pink hair that rose and fell covering half of her face. She appeared to be hiding from him. After a moment of looking at her, she slightly raised her head and met his gaze. Her eyes went wide and she ducked even further behind Rarity with a small squeak and folded her ears back.
“Oh Fluttershy, you mustn’t be rude to our guest of honor. Come and say hello.” Rarity prompted the shy little pony out from behind her to meet him.
Fluttershy slowly walked up to Scar never taking her gaze off the floor. “Um… hello.” She said in a small quiet voice. Scar almost couldn’t hear her over the sound of the rest of the party.
“Hello.” Scar replied in a low monotone. “You are Fluttershy, correct?”
Fluttershy looked up at him with sheepish eyes. “Y-Yes.” She stuttered.
“I am Scar. It is… nice to meet you.” Scar hesitated to say. This new pony seemed rather sensitive, so he proceeded with caution. He noticed her staring at his face, but not into his eyes. He turned away and said, “You’re wondering how I got this scar, aren’t you?”
Fluttershy nodded slowly and said, “But if you don’t want to tell me, that’s ok with me.”
“It’s a long story; let’s just say that this scar was no accident.”
Scar walked off and stood in a corner and watched the other’s interact with each other. He thought of a time when he and his friends would get together like this before everything went wrong. He sat on the floor and closed his eyes, only to be disturbed by you-know-who.
“Hey there you silly filly. What are you doing sitting in the corner? Come and have some fun.” Pinkie Pie prodded him.
Scar didn’t say a word.
“Oh come on! Don’t be such a stick in the mud.” Pinkie Pie said. She trotted around him until she was behind him and she tried to push him out onto the floor. Scar didn’t budge.
“Wow. You’re strong.” Said Pinkie Pie. This time she came around in front and tried pulling him, but Scar sat as if he were submerged in hardened cement.
Pinkie Pie started to get frustrated. She puffed out her cheeks and tried pushing again. After a few minutes of grunting and pushing, she finally was able to get Scar to move three inches.
“Alright! What’s it gonna take for you to have some fun? I set this all up just for you so you could cheer up a bit. You’ve been nothing but serious all day. Time for you to loosen up a bit.”
Scar could clearly see she wasn’t going to give up until he did something. He decided he would cooperate for a while and then leave. “Alright.” He said. “What do you have planned for me?”
Pinkie Pie’s face lit up. “Oh, we’ve got lots of games and treats to try out. We’ve got pin the tail on the pony, musical chairs, bobbing for apples, and BINGO!”
“Alright then. I don’t know what any of those are, so you choose for me.” Scar suggested.
“Okie dokie lokie. Be right back.” And in a huff, she was gone.
A few moments later she returned with a piece of cloth in her mouth. She tied it around Scars eyes and spun him around. Scar was beginning to think he had made a mistake. All of a sudden Pinkie Pie stopped him and put a pin in his mouth with something dangling from it. He couldn’t tell what. He suddenly started moving, as if something was pushing him.
At last he heard Pinkie Pie’s voice. “Alright. All you have to do is walk straight forward and put the pin into the pony’s flank.” She explained. Scar obeyed and slowly staggered forward.
He continued to walk until he could sense something in front of him. He assumed it was his target and he stuck the pin in it as hard as he could.
“Ouch!” Came a voice.
Dread filled Scar as he lifted the blindfold over one eye. Rainbow Dash stood before him with the needle in her backside and her face right up against his. “What’d you go and do that for?” She demanded.
“Forgive me. I didn’t know it was you.” He tried to explain.
“You wanna fight? Is that it? Huh? What this room aint big enough for the both of us?” She continued.
Applejack came to Scar’s rescue. “Simmer down their little filly. It was just an accident.”
“But this guy just stuck a pin into me! I won’t be able to sit for a week!” Rainbow Dash exclaimed.
“I know. I was standing right here. He was blindfolded and dizzy. What did you expect?” Applejack retorted.
“I guess you’re right. But it still hurt.” Rainbow Dash muttered as she walked away.
“Don’t you give no never mind about Rainbow Dash there. She’s always like that. High spirited as well as high strung.” Applejack reassured Scar.
“You have my thanks.” He responded.
As the night went on, Scar continued to participate in random activities. He came to know his new friends better as they talked into the night. As events unfolded, Scar felt a little peculiar. He slowly began to relax and enjoy himself. His face softened and he began to “play” with more energy. He had almost forgotten what it was he set out to do earlier that day. That is, until Twilight walked in.
“Good evening everyone. I made it!” She announced. Everyone ran up to greet Twilight, asking her where she had been all night.
“I was in Canterlot trying to find this book for Scar.” She said as she pulled an old, dusty looking tome out of her satchel. “Oh, and I brought a guest with me as well.” As she said that, a white pony with both a horn and wings entered the room. She towered over everyone else. Her face was kind and soft. As she entered, everyone stopped and bowed to her. She looked at everyone in turn and spoke. “Hello everyone. It’s good to see you all again.” She said in a sweet, soothing voice.
“Princess Celestia, what brings you here?” Asked Applejack.
“I ran into her while I was in Canterlot.” Twilight explained. “She wanted to know why I was there and not with you guys and I told her of our new friend. “
“I wanted to meet this strange new pony. Now tell me, where is he?” Princess Celestia said as she glanced around the room. Eventually her gaze fell upon Scar who met hers with a solid stare.
Pinkie Pie rushed to Scar’s side. “This is Scar. I found him napping on the edge of the Everfree Forest.” She explained.
“I see. I don’ think I’ve ever seen you in Ponyville. Where are you from?” Princess Celestia asked.
“I come from a country called Ammestris.” Scar replied.
“I don’t think I’ve ever heard of Ammestris before. Where is it exactly?” She asked.
“You’ve never heard of it because it doesn’t exist here.” Said Scar.
“What do you mean? Who are you exactly?” She inquired
Everyone fell silent as Scar told his story. “I am Ishvalan. My homeland is called Ishval, just east of Ammestris. My People were peaceful, never conflicting with our neighbors. We lived together in peace and harmony, always serving each other and worshiping our god Ishvala. One day, an Ammestrian soldier shot and killed an Ishvalan child, and a riot started. Our once peaceful people became enraged and vengeful. All out war had started and our rebellion had cause such an uproar the Ammestirans decided enough was enough. They sent in a special group of soldiers called State Alchemists to wipe out my people. These State Alchemists wielded such devastating power they ended the war within days of their arrival. In fact, it was a State Alchemist that gave me this, my namesake.” Scar gestured to his face. “My entire civilization was wiped from the face of the earth in a matter of days. Now the survivors are forced to wander the land in search of refuge. I am one of those survivors, and I have sworn vengeance, in the name of Ishvala, upon the State Alchemists who murdered my people. I was fighting one before I came here. As we fought, a strange alchemic reaction occurred and a portal was opened and I was forced through. When I awoke I was looking into the eyes of Pinkie Pie.”
As he finished everyone stared at him with a look of shock and awe. He could hear Pinkie Pie sobbing in the background. “Th-That’s *SOB* j-just so sad!” She sobbed. She grabbed a corner of a table cloth and blew her nose into it. “How *cry* could anyone *whimper* do such a thing?”
Everyone else in the room just stared at Scar. An awkward silence fell upon the room except for Pinkie Pie’s relentless weeping. Princess Celestia finally broke the silence. “Well, that is certainly an interesting story. Is that why you sent my student to fetch this book?”
“Aye. I have a work I need to complete.” Scar responded.
“Very well. Would you like to do the honors Twilight?” Said Princes Celestia.
“Yes your majesty.” Twilight said. She opened the tome and started to read. After a few moments she closed the book and looked at Scar. “Are you ready?”
Scar nodded, and Twilight activated her magic. Her horn began to glow a faint purplish hue. In front of her appeared a swirl of light that grew to the size of a pony’s body. Inside the swirling light lay an image of the room Scar was in before. Scar walked up to the portal and stopped. He turned around and spoke to his new friends. “Thank you… everyone. It was nice meeting all of you.”
“Y’all come back now, ye hear?” Applejack exclaimed.
“It was good to see a new face around here. Please be sure to come back and visit.” Said Rarity.
Fluttershy nodded in agreement.
“I’m not sure if that’s possible, but we shall see.” Scar replied. He turned to Pinkie Pie and spoke to her directly. “I apologize if I came across as bitter to you. You showed me kindness and despite my appearance and tried to help me though you did not know me. You’ve made me happy.”
Pinkie Pie ran up to him and pecked him on the cheek. “You silly filly. Come back soon so we can party some more.” She said playfully.
Scar grunted and turned to look at everyone. “Farewell my friends. We may or may not meet again.” As he finished, he stepped through the portal and blacked out again.
When he awoke, he was once again in the room where he fought Edward. He put his hand up to his forehead and moved it down his face. His head hurt. He slowly got up and looked to the other side of the room. There he could see Edward Elric trying to regain his footing as well as his younger brother Alphonse.
“Brother! That was reckless! You need to be more careful!” Yelled Alphonse.
“Shut up! I’m doing the best I can. Why don’t you try fighting him for a bit? See how you like it!” Edward retorted.
Alphonse saw Scar get to his feet and shouted, “Watch out behind you!” Edward whirled around and stood in a ready stance, prepared for whatever Scar would throw at him.
Once Scar found his balance, he looked up at the two brothers. He stood there for a moment, studying them, then turned around and started to walk away. Confusion enveloped Edward’s face. “Hey, where do you think you’re going? We’re not done here!” He called after him.
Scar walked on. “Ishvala has proven to be a merciful god. He has allowed you to live another day. You shouldn’t reject his gracious gift.” He said without looking back. He was lying of coarse in order to hide his true reasons for why he didn’t continue to fight them. All he could think of in that moment was a certain pink pony who restored happiness in him… for the time being.
