Lieutenant Shadow Storm is a Royal Air Force flyer. After being sent on a simple messenger's mission, Storm is taken down by changeling reconnaissance flyers over Ponyville, crashing into the Everfree Forest. After being rescued by Twilight Sparkle and her friends, Storm heads to Canterlot to deliver the message, and make a rather odd request. As he begins to settle into a three month leave, Storm is cast into the spotlight, as he slowly uncovers a secret plot against Canterlot, the Crown, and Princess Celestia herself.

The story is rather dark, emotional, and features a lot of combat and military related content. The story focuses mostly on Shadow Storm, and his unstable emotional state and the power of true love.
