Scribbles Undecided

Anypony who saw what Rainbow Dash was scribbling down might've been shocked, amused, or worried. For some: all three. It actually happens sometimes. One must remember that there are indeed emotionally challenged ponies in this world. That, and nutty ones, too.

This is the precise reason she did as much as she could to isolate herself from the rest of Equestria for the moment.

The way she did this is easier said than done. Actually, for her, it was about as easy to do as it was to say.

She had said it about twenty minutes ago, really.

"I'll just fly up super high when nopony's suspecting anything and snag a cloud to go with me so no one can see me," she whispered to a pony she almost trusted with her life as she was prepping to take off. "I... just... need you to not tell anypony at all..."

"Sure thing, Dashie!" the almost completely trusted pony said, stopping her current bouncing. She then saluted her winged friend. "No problem-eemo!"

Finally feeling relieved, Rainbow Dash quickly gave Pinkie Pie a fast hug. This hug said Thanks for being a trusty friend and not much else, really. "Thanks, Pinkie," she said a little louder than before. She then let go of Pinkie and unknowingly let her fall to ground.

"Yoooouuu'rrre welcome!!" Pinkie said in sing-song tone as she shot up from the ground to her hooves.

Rainbow gave her a wave before parting from the ground, initiating her plan.

Here she was, lying on a cloud, writing down something which she knew little about. Therefore, it was going very, very slow.

"Ugh..." she groaned and put her head in her hooves. "Why is this taking so long?" She brought her head back up. "I'm supposed to be fast at this! I'm fast at everything!" She was already getting bored with the letter and hadn't even written two sentences yet. "Well, maybe not everything..." she admitted to no one, "...and... not this, but..." she tried to convince herself that she was fast at more than just flying.

After about 8 good seconds, she gave up and pouted. Then she looked straight ahead and slapped herself across the face, coming to realize that she came to a realization quite quickly.

"I think fast!" she exclaimed. Then, realizing how loud she was, she began to look around for any visitors or passersby.

She sighed in relief at the sight of nopony in the sky right then. She then decided to return to her task of writing a love letter.

This letter confused her much. She was not confused as to who, what, when, where, why, and how.

She was confused as to why Princess Celestia herself asked her to write it.

She asked, of course. However, she had only received a response of "Destiny will tell you, but that all depends on who it is, Rainbow Dash." The Alicorn had given the assignment, and the Pegasus had left Canterlot a moment after. However, the Princess had not told her who she was to write to, so the only thought she had while she flew back to Ponyville was:

"I need somepony's help."

After some advice from Pinkie Pie, she found herself laying on a cloud with a quill in her mouth and some paper in front of her. This truly was taking forever. She looked at clouds for ideas. She looked down towards Ponyville for ideas. She looked at her hooves for ideas. She looked at the cloud she was on for ideas. She looked at the quill for ideas. She looked at her tail for ideas. She looked at her flank for ideas!

She was now what we would call desperate. She then laid herself down and looked at the back of her eyelids. For ideas, yes, but not for inspiration. This was to help her think.

And help it did. As she pondered, she came across a thought that was unexpected.

"Do I really need more help...?"

She looked around at the clouds again. There was nothing even slightly romantic about them.

"I do. Definitely."

Flying back to her cloud home to get saddlebags while holding the quill and paper with one hoof against her chest, Rainbow Dash pondered on who she should ask for help. She came to a halt in her flight pattern as Pinkie Pie entered her mind. She could hear the endless chatter about great how it was to be in somepony's mind.

"AAHHHHH!!" screamed Rainbow. "Pinkie Pie! Get out! Get out of my head!"

"Awww..." Pinkie pouted. "But it's so super-ly-duper-ly amazingly fun fun fun!"

"I don't care, just--"

There was a very pink poof inside of Rainbow's head.

"...get out...?"

She figured she must have scared the pinkment of imagination off. She was left with a blank expression. She knew Pinkie had Pinkie powers, but that was clearly weird.

Or was it? Did Pinkie actually enter her mind, or was it simply her own imagination?

"Whatever," she said to herself. She didn't know and didn't have time to think about it, either.

She then continued with the task at hoof by dashing towards her house.

After landing on her porch she folded her wings, tucked the quill and paper neatly behind them, and walked swiftly inside the house. Around this corner, around that table, down that hall, and a few other ways to get to her room, she finally reached it. She then proceeded to check around for her saddlebags, under the bed, by the nightstand, next to the bookshelf, on the windowsill, and by the door. Having not seen it in any of these places, she began to retrace her hoofsteps from the night before. Following her hooves, she wound up in the living room. As she stood in the center of the room, she looked around. Quickly, something colorful catching her eye. What could she say? Besides the rainbow stream outside on her porch, there wasn't really that much color around here.

"Oh," she said, "there we go." She picked up the bags from the couch, swung them around onto her back, and put the writing tools she was carrying inside them.

As she began to trot out the front door, something else caught her attention, causing her to stagger back inside.

A picture on the kitchen counter. Herself and Fluttershy, as fillies, were in it. It made her laugh a little. In the picture, they were at flight school. Rainbow had just won her very first race and they were standing at the finish line. Fluttershy was rewarding her victory with a deathly tight hug, snuggling deeply against her. The look on filly Rainbow's face was that of shocked and embarrassed. Very embarrassed indeed.

After Rainbow stopped chuckling softly, she looked at the picture again, only to find something she never noticed until now. She hoped her eyes were lying to her. She walked over into the kitchen and right up to the counter to make sure it wasn't real.

It was real alright.

Fluttershy was licking her.

Her mane, to be exact. That may have been why she hadn't felt it when it happened. She was so covered in sweat that she couldn't feel the touch of her best friend's tongue. Which was rather gross, actually. Who would want to lick somepony who was covered in sweat?

Rainbow made a disgusted noise as she came across the thought.

Looking back at the picture again, she couldn't help but wonder why Fluttershy do such a thing... Seriously, the mare was all sappy even as a filly! And showing that kind of affection in publi--

The words struck her: sappy and affectionate.

Was Fluttershy being... romantic?

Rainbow thought about it for quite some time. Maybe it was gross at that time, but now, that could be different.

"You might be just what I need, Fluttershy..." She then raised an eyebrow, looked around, and said, sarcastically, "Whoa... That didn't sound weird..."
