Old Sparky, an accomplished journalist from Meire, loses his job when the newspaper he works for shuts down. He is forced to leave to a small town across Equestria, a well known place called Ponyville. On arrival, Sparky is homeless and jobless, and has no ways to earn bits. Eventually, he is offered a place to stay by a young mare; Lyra Heartstrings. Sparky uses this opportunity to get back on his feet and start working for the Ponyville Gazette, and it is from his reporting for them that takes Old Sparky on what possibly could be the ride of his life!
