Dust: Walking in Beauty to Her Midnight Throne.
The snow gently drifted through the clear winter evening and all was quiet every pony was bundled safe and worm inside their homes, all except for the Doctor Whooves he was rushing through the empty streets of ponyville and making his way to the far edge of the town where a little cottage, the home of the dust family, was in great need of his skills.
“Where is that raggedy Doctor? “Said a worried father to be as he looked out into the night where the snow had begun to slow and the clouds allowing the twinkle of the evening stars the shine through. He stepped from the frosted window and turned toward the expectant mother who was in obvious pain.
“Hold on my love” he said as he nuzzled her. “He will be here soon”
“I am but I don’t think the little one can much longer” she answered in a painful tone.
His hoofs clacked heavy as he approached there home alerting the parents to be to his presence and there front door quickly opening “How is she?” he asked in an exasperated voice.
“Amethyst is in a lot of pain, so much so that she cannot move” the father’s voice filled with worries. “Please help her”
“Stone” a week pain filled voice interrupted “I am here my love and so is the doctor”
Doctor Whooves moved close to Amethyst and began to examine her swollen belly his hoof sliding a stethoscope gently, his ears twitching at the sounds of the new life inside her. “I am sorry, so very sorry but this is going to be a painful birth, I am going to need you to take it slow and steady” the doctor spoke as he handed a leather wrapped bit to stone “get her to bite down on this, it will help”
“The foal is larger than the average earth pony foal should be” Doctor Whooves stated as he slipped on medical gloves “it seems healthy and eager to join ponyville, just hope I can convince the little one to slow down so its mother can catch her breath”
The expectant parents chuckled as the long night began, Stone stayed close to his mate and helped as best he could to bare some of the pain Amethyst was experiencing, the doctor barley spoke, he just stud there watching with a smile on his muzzle as if he knew something, he looked at the clock nearly midnight “it’s time” he said and moved to help bring the foal into the world “now push Amethyst, push hard”
With a loud sudden scream followed by the cries of a new born, a new life had joined equestria, “congratulations it’s a girl” the doctor smiled “a strong healthy Pegasus pony” he exclaimed.
“Wait” stone blinked “what? How? That’s not possible is it?” he looked to his mate who had just as a confused look on her muzzle as he did.
The doctor proceeded to clean up the little Pegasus “it is indeed rare but it has happened before over two thousand years ago, Iron wing, was her name if I remember correctly; she too had earth pony parents.” The doctor nodded “Fine filly iron wing, she was the one who defeated Discords dragon guards, allowing Princess Celestia and Princess Luna to freely use the elements of harmony locking Discord in stone”
As Doctor Whooves continued to ramble on as though he was there, the new parents nuzzled and welcomed their daughter not caring how or why “what should we name her?” amethyst asked her mate.
Stone looked closer getting to know his foal better, the little ones mane was silver and long, the pattern of her fur made her look like she wore a tux, her larger than normal wings tipped with white and the edge of her wings were strange, covered in a down almost like a cloud covered it. That is when stone saw it.
“Doctor?” stone questioned.
“Fabulous ponies the Sisters of plenitude, they know more ways to cure deadly diseases than any pony” the Doctor rambled.
“Doctor?” stone razed his voice.
“I dated one briefly, couldn’t get use to the nun outfit” he continued to ramble. “Felt like I should be confessing my sins”
“DOCTOR SHE HAS A CUTIE MARK!” stone shouted making Doctor Whooves turn in surprise “what?” he asked with a surprised tone.
“Look here” stone lifted the foal’s wing gently exposing a star like mark on her flank. The doctor took a long look at the marking “I am not one hundred present sure but I don’t think it is but it gives a good idea for a name, and if you will look here” quickly moving to the window and pulling back the drapes “there just left of the moon, the evening star, the star that guides every one home when there lost, good little star, first star, last star always there in the darkness shining so bright”
Amethyst spoke “The evening star” looking down at her now sleeping foal.
“Evening Star Dust has a nice ring to it” The doctor smiled as he gathered his things and walked slowly to the door. “Take care of that little star I expect wonderful things from her”
“Thank you Doctor for all your help” stone sighed with relief now that the ordeal was over “what do I owe you?”
“Your thanks is enough, helping to start a new life is always on the house” he said as he shut the door and then poked his head back in ‘actually there is one thing”
The snow gently drifted through the clear winter morning as The Doctor made his way home slowly munching a hot apple muffin till he reached his front door, a blue door that every pony in ponyville knew, reaching out and gently caressing the wooden frame “this time the nightmare filly will have her star to guide her home and to protect her” he stepped inside “come on old girl let’s get you fixed up”
They always grow up so fast and in the case of Evening Star Dust the bumps and bruises of foal hood were more evident, with both her parents being earth ponies learning to fly was not easy, the other Pegasus ponies in ponyville always seemed too busy to help the little star or made her painfully aware how different she was.
The rain gently pated against Stars umbrella as she walked alone towards the earth pony school her wings tucked close to her body to keep them dry until suddenly she felt the cold water splash against her flank followed by the sound of foal laughter. Looking over her shoulder she saw the familiar faces of two foals , Splish and Splash tended to live up to their names, before she could say anything the pare ran past her laughing.
Star sighed and shook her heavy wings, there weight reminding her of the taunts of the much less kind ponies, Star frowned and let her wings hang down dragging in the mud her head lowered as she slowly walked. The tears in her eyes hidden by the rain that had now become heaver as to respond to the sadness in her heart, looking up Star saw the school and sighed, another day of not knowing how to fly.
She stepped inside the worm school room and took her place at the back of the class room from her right side came a nudge, another filly who was new to ponyville held out a towel “Hi my names Cosmic Dancer, what’s yours?” Star looked over to the Light gray filly and took the worm towel and started to dry herself “My name is…”
“Grounder” interrupted another colt as the class sparked into laughter, Star lowered her ears and looked down at the now wet towel and her muzzle filled with a painful look.
Cosmic gave the dark brown colt an angry look before turning back to Star but before she could say anything the teacher had started speaking getting the class in order and beginning the mornings lessons.
As the lunch bell rang Star got up from her desk and went outside looking up at the still black rain clouds, yet still a rainbow was in the sky, one that kept making strange zigs and zags even a loop de loop it must be a Pegasus pony she thought maybe even one of the wonderbolts “lovely” she whispered to herself sadly she was snapped out of her trance by a shove.
“You will never be like Rainbow Dash, she’s awesome” the brown colt from before scolded “you, your just a earth pony who thinks she’s a Pegasus” the colt laughed.
Star didn’t respond she just looked down at the ground as she walked slowly to a quiet spot on the playground to eat her lunch that her mother had packed for her that morning. Cosmic Dancer looked over at her from across the playground and was about to walk over to Star when she was stopped by the colt “don’t bother with that pony she’s broken.”
Cosmic took an aggressive stance “why do you have to be so mean, what did she ever do to you to deserve it?” she scoffed at him and trotted away before he could respond, approaching the quietly eating Star “you still haven’t given me your name?” she asked gently.
“Evening Star Dust” she softly responded faintly “every pony just calls me star though”
“Nice to meet you star, can I eat with you?” Cosmic said cheerfully, star just nodded as she took a bite.
Cosmic smiled and found a dry spot under the tree and began to eat as well, between bites she asked a lot of questions mostly about ponyville but finally as always she came to the obvious questions about her wings, and could see the depressed look on Stars muzzle, as Cosmic was about to say she didn’t need to answer, Star responded explaining sorrowfully about how here parents were earth ponies and that her wings were too large and heavy for her small body making it imposable to fly.
“Well then it’s only a matter of time, were still young fillies” Cosmic blurted “when you grow up I bet you will be one of the best flyers in all of equestria” she stood and pointed dramatically then suddenly a wall of water splashed against her.
“You two are to serous” splash giggled “stop being so gloomy and sad and stuff and have some fun” without warning she too was suddenly soaked head to hoof “yea, your only young once” Splish smiled. Splash not to be out dun pounced on Splish and wrestled with her in a puddle both of them getting mud all over.
“I am sure there were dryer ways of getting my point across” Cosmic said grumpily as water dripped from her fur.
The drenched duo stopped and looked at her “nope water washes the tears away” said Splish, Splash who was pinned underneath nodded with a wide smile on her muzzle. Star giggled as she watched, she needed this today, but she noticed what the others didn’t, Splash also had a hint of blush in her cheeks. Their eyes met briefly and Splash looked away awkwardly, star could only look on with a confused look on her muzzle.
“Every Pony time for class” the teacher broke the laughter, the day had gotten better for Star, and three new friends though two had a strange wet way of showing their friendship.
Star Dusts strength grew as did the bonds of friendship she shared with her friends, the four of them walking to and from school together and on their days off they could be found laughing and sharing the joys of foal hood. This summer’s day was much like those care free days and as day slipped into night the four now young teenage friends looked up into the starlit sky.
Cosmic pointed up at a bright star “There’s your name sake” Star smiled and looked up “It looks like your cutie mark”
“If that is my cutie mark” star sighed “I mean what kind of special skill is that, look at yours at least you know for sure , no one can dance as good as you can, me I still can’t fly”
Splish suddenly pounced Star Dust, “o no not this again” as always Splish over did things pushing star over the edge of a steep hill with her in tow “dam it Splish how many times do I have to tell you watch were your pouncing” star shouted as they rolled together down the hill. There friends looked at each other and laughed “we will wait here for you two” Splash shouted at them as the tumbling pair disappeared into the brush.
“Owe” star moaned as the pair finally came to a stop in the bushes “why do you always seem to end up under me when you’re the one pouncing on me” she grumbled as she stretched out her wings shaking the twigs from them, looking down at Splish “and that embraced look again” Splish could only blush.
Star sighed “come on let’s get going” as Star slowly stud both of them let out a low gasp, the vines that grew in the bushes had wrapped around them in such a way that combined with the tumble put them in a rather compromising position. Splish squirmed not sure what to make of the new feeling, whatever it was it was good, “stop…stop moving” star panted the same feeling rushing through the young filly.
Both fillies panted, there muzzles close and could feel each other’s hot breath “Star, I’m scared, what was that?” Splish quivered.
“I…I don’t know” Star moved slowly to try and free them of their predicament, Splish looked up “can you…umm do that again?”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea Splish” Star voice muffled by a vine that she was trying to chew through, Splish started pouting and looking up with big pleading eyes “no stop that…that won’t work this time” Star said sharply as the filly’s eyes began to water.
Star Dust dropped the vine and sighed “fine” she spit out the vine “one more time, and only one more time” the redness in Star dusts cheeks very bright red. Before Splish could respond Star had moved her hips again making both of them gasp sharply and as much as Stars mind said only one more time, that one more time became one after the other. After a few thrusts both could not take any more this new found pleasure overwhelming them and granting both release, both filly’s shaking and shivering against each other, and there hind legs soaked.
Star gently moved to look down into Splishes eyes, there muzzles brushing against each other “Star...” Splish panted out “I…I..” before she could say anything the other two friends who had become impatient and come looking for them finally broke there long silence.
“That…that…”splash stammered “was awesome” Cosmic chimed in “how do you two feel? Are you two ok? ”
Star didn’t answer, quickly she freed herself from the vines and backed away from Splish, her bangs covering her eyes and a confused look on her muzzle, her large wings held down.
“Star?” Splish said in a questioning tone, yet the Pegasus pony said nothing. “You’re scaring me, star?”
Stepping slowly backward from her still quivering and panting friend Star’s mind filled with the event that had just transpired, what did she just do and just as she was about to run Splish pounced her and pined her down “I am ok, look see I am ok” Star struggled but soon calmed under her friends worm embrace, “shhh see its ok, I am ok, you did nothing wrong” the sincerity in Splishes voice filling the young filly’s ears.
Cosmic moved over to the hugging pare and looked at them “I am sorry I think that was my fault, I ask too many questions sometimes” Star whose confusion had slowly began to ware off finally spoke “I am sorry Splish I….I.. Don’t know what came over me”
“It’s ok Star, it was scary at first then…” Splishes eyes glazed over some “it was wonderful, I have never felt anything so good ever, thank you Star” she nuzzled against her still pined friend, meanwhile splash who stayed wide-eyed repeating herself like a broken record until Cosmic gave her a shove.
“You ok splash?” asked Cosmic worriedly. “Starting to sound like one of mom’s old records”
Splash shook her head to clear the confusion then her cheeks went bright red “Star, can ummm, can you do that to me too?”
Star Dust blushed hard and looked away “sorry” she said snakingly “I need to figure things out before I do that again” Splash nodded as she watched Star and Splish stand up.
The four friends made their way out of the bushes still discussing the event; Star remained quiet and trailed behind her friends, lost in thought and before long each of them returning to their homes, sleep for star was going to be next to imposable.
Her mind was a jumble as she went into the kitchen, there pouring herself a glass of milk to help her fall asleep from behind her came her mother’s voice “Can’t sleep my little star?”
Star nodded her head “yea” she looked down at her glass.
“Something on your mind?” Amethyst asked as she poured herself a glass of milk as well.
Star blushed remembering the events of the day and looked away from her mother “O I see colt troubles?” her mother smiled. Her mother’s words making her blush even harder and shake her head “Come now my little Star, tell your mother”
Star sighed and began to explain what had happened with Splish, how good it felt and the confusion that the act had caused, her mother sat quietly letting her daughter describe her first time, redness slowly forming on her own cheeks.
“So that’s what happened, I am so confused” Star sighed and laid her head on the table “I don’t know what to do or how I should be feeling”
Amethyst cleared her thought and placed her hoof on her daughters shoulder and started explaining gently the birds and the bees how a male and female pony come together to make foals, and to show each other how much they love one another.
“What you did with Splish was not wrong my little star” Amethyst smiled “I have known that she didn’t take to colts, I have seen how she looks at you and your other friends” she got up and placed her now empty glass in the sink “What happened will hopefully help her understand what she wants in life.”
“What about me, I care for my friends but…” Star looked to her mother who was adjusting some dishes her tail held up and to the side exposing herself, Star went wide eyed “You my dear star I think you want the best of both worlds”
“Mom?” Star’s eyes exploring her mother. “I love you my little star, and I am sorry I didn’t explain all of this sooner, now before I do something I will regret I am going to go remind your father I love him” her words making Star, who now understood what that meant almost blush from head to hoof. Amethyst kissed her daughters cheek “go get some rest my little star”
Star nodded and put her empty glass in the sink and turned to follow her mother down the hall, her eyes watching the movement of her hips and her nostrils filling with a familiar sent, her mind flashed back to earlier in the day, the sent was similar to that of Splish after their moment together. Amethysts tail was still held up giving Star a good long look at her fillyhood.
Amethyst looked over her shoulder seeing her daughter’s interest then stopped and shook her head this inadvertently caused Stars nose to bump into and against her mother’s already wet mound, making her jump and shiver then run to her bedroom and stammering “good night my little star, see you in the morning”
Star just blinked her heart racing as she noticed the wetness on her nose; she stood there in the hall way looking at her parent’s door then to her own room door and went inside, shutting the door behind her. Star went to her mirror looking at her nose, each time inhaling and getting the scent of her mother, she turned and looked over her shoulder lifting her tail and looking at her own mound, then she walked forward mimicking her mother’s walk she was surprised at how good that movement looked, her ear twitched as she could faintly hear the sounds of her parents love making, she dived into her bed embarrassed but surprisingly enough her exhaustion cot up with her letting her slip into a peaceful sleep.
Sometimes the world is your teacher; the next day was one of the hottest days of summer, Star from her favorite place, a large oak tree that over looked her father’s stone quarry, though se couldn’t fly she still liked high places much to the dismay of her friends but this tree supplied much needed shade for them.
Watching her mother go about her task of finding gems that lay in the walls of the quarry, her mother’s skill at finding gems without magic always astounded unicorn ponies and made many of them jealous, often leading to looks of scorn whenever star and her mother went shopping.
This particular hot day Star was lost in thought thinking about the mark on her flank, was it a cutie mark or not, if she would learn to fly and get into the academy, the events of the previous day and something Doctor Whooves had said to her in passing kept repeating in her mind.
“As an old friend once said” the Doctor handing her a fresh red apple “It’s a dangerous business, Whooves, going out of your front door. You step into the road and if you don’t keep your hoofs, there is no knowing where you might be swept off to” he walked with her a bit before the Doctor then turned to her with a sorrowful look in his eyes “and I am sorry so very sorry” she asked why he said that but he never answered, he just kept walking with her.
The young filly looked up into the sky watching some Pegasus ponies corralling and coaxing some puffy clouds to settle over the town to elevate the heat, Stars white tipped ears twitched at the sound of falling stones a common sound in the quarry but this sound louder more sinister, she looked franticly over the cliff side and found a large bolder threatening to break free, smaller stones that held back the beast were beginning to fail. Star looked down from the bolder to the quarry floor, there going about her work was her mother Star Dust shouted as loud as she could to get her mother’s attention, but her cries went unheard and too late.
Without thinking Star leaped from the branch she was resting on snapping it off and sending it crashing to the ground near her resting friends, as far from the edge of the cliff side as she could as the three young fillies jumped up in fright, Star stretched her large wings out as far as she could then tucking them in dived hard racing to save her mother.
It seemed all a blur no pony could tell what was going on; Star herself acted on pure instinct her wings that for the longest time felt so heavy and unresponsive now a part of her pushing her faster and faster with urgency. With each full spread of her wings she grew closer and closer but so did the bolder.
From atop the cliff her friends were cheering, go star go, fly like you were meant to, they shouted even her mother who was still unaware of the bolder looked over at her rapidly approaching daughter and rejoiced at Star Dusts first flight and the last she would ever see.
The bolder had hit its mark, Star dust screeched to a stop near her mother’s broken body “mom?” Stars voice filled with worry and tears streaming down her cheeks, her hoof stepping in the crimson of her mother’s blood.
“Mom?” Star’s voice filled with sorrow and pain “Please mom say something” her tears dripping on to her mother’s muzzle, “please don’t go, MOM!” her painful cry echoing in the quarry.
Stone approached silently his eyes wide with disbelief, tears welling in them “Amethyst?” he choked “please wake up” Stone prided himself on a safe quarry, there had never been an accident before now “Love, please open your eyes.” He pleaded and looked down as the pool of blood grew.
“What’s going on down there?” Splish asked as she looked down.
“Some pony is hurt and it looks bad” splash responded “can you tell who?
“No...” Cosmic whispered “come on ponies we have to get down there” and she started running making her way into the quarry, closely followed by the others.
“Wait Cosmic slowdown, who is it? Who’s hurt?” Splash huffed as she ran.
“It’s Star’s mom!” she shouted back at them, the following pair just looked at each other and increased their speed to match Cosmic’s stride.
There is sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than then thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief and unspeakable love. When we lose one we love, our bitterest tears are called forth by the memory of hours when we loved not enough.
The days that followed were filled with tears, broken by moments spent with her friends in the grassy meadow little words were exchanged between them though hugs and shared tears plentiful. Stone never blamed his daughter for not saving Amethyst, not even once, after the funeral the two remaining of the Dust family finally spoke to each other
Star trailed behind her father as they walked home “Dad…I…I...” her father turned and spoke angrily “don’t, don’t dare apologies it is not your fault, you did your best to get to your mother” tears now filling his eyes as he grabbed Star and pulled her into a tight hug “and she got to see you fly sweetheart.” The filly’s tears streamed down her cheeks as she cried harder than she had ever before “Let it out my little star” Stone said gently as his tears joined with hers.
As the dawn’s first rays of sunlight, Star lay in her bed looking out the window she suddenly remembered what The Doctor said, she dwelled on the words, I am sorry so very sorry, she remembered the tone of his voice and how he said what he did, he knew, somehow he knew and the rage and quest for answers filled her.
She dashed out her front door past her still wakening father and leapt into the air stretching out her wings that once again did as they were told lifting her aloft into the blue morning sky, ponyville looked so small from up in the air and it didn’t take her long to get to the blue door that every pony knew. Star Dust swooped down and landed hard and angrily at the front of that blue door and immediately started banging on it “WAKE UP DOCTOR!” she shouted “you knew didn’t you, somehow you knew” her hoofs banging against the blue door when suddenly it swung open, without thinking she ran inside and confronted him.
“Good morning Evening Star Dust” the doctor sat at his breakfast table where two plates were set and filled with food “come have breakfast”
“Don’t good morning me, you knew, tell me how you knew” Star angrily growled and slammed her hoof down.
The Doctor bit into a piece of toast “My dear guiding Star I haven’t the foggiest idea what you’re talking about”
“MY MOTHER!” she exclaimed making the Doctor jump and drop his toast.
“Blast butter side down, must be a universal constant or something” he grumbled, obviously trying to avoid answering questions.
Her rage grew and she reared up on her hind legs spreading her wings out and bearing her teeth her front hoofs coming crashing down on the table sending plates and food in all directions “IN MY MOTHERS NAME I DEMAND YOU ANSWER ME!” she shouted.
The doctor had backed off some and sighed “I can’t”
“HA you did know, you did this didn’t you you’re the one to blame for my mom being taken away” her words harsh and her tone hurtful. “But why?” her voice slipping to fill with sadness “what did she do to you for you to…to...” her voice suddenly rose with anger “murder her”
“I didn’t kill her, I wasn’t even there” The doctor finally coming to his defense ”Amethyst was one of my best friends, I could never hurt her” he stud up and took picked up a cup of tea from the now back to normal table.
Star blinked and quickly looked around the now clean room “wait, didn’t I just smash that table?” Her anger switching quickly to confusion “and the mess, it’s not here”
Nervously the doctor responded “you must be mistaken, the grief and all” taking another sip of tea.
Star pondered and looked around more noticing outlandish machinery and consoles “where, where did all this come from” she franticly looked around noticing a console with a picture of herself and information on it, as she approached The doctor jumped in the way blocking her view and turning the power off.
“Explain, now” Star growled and slammed a hoof down.
“Guess I have no choice now” he sighed “I am a Time Lord, and ancient race who has learned how to travel in time using a ship called a T.A.R.D.I.S, time and relative dimension in space, the ship your now inside”
Star sat at the table taking in what the doctor had just said “then... then we can go back and save her, we can change what happened” her eyes going wide with excitement but soon fade as she saw the look on his muzzle.
“I’m sorry, I have already tried that once, nearly destroyed all of equestria” he sipped his tea again.
“How could saving my mom destroy equestria?” she asked
“Are you sure you want to know?” he put the tea cup down “I can tell you, well some of it anyway, I owe you that much” Star looked down at the food and nodded.
“If I change things so she lives, it’s you that ends up under that bolder and before you go off all heroic like and say it would be better that way you’re wrong, something is coming and that something will destroy all of creation, every pony will cease to exist, time itself will unravel and that’s not the worst of it” he started to ramble.
“But…but why am I so important” Star looked up tears in her eyes, “and why won’t you try and save us both”
“You just are, believe me you are” he moved close his muzzle close to hers “and I tried, accidently blew up the sun, Princess Celestia was right cross with me”
“Fine” Star huffed “if you won’t help me then I’ll find another Time Lord who will” she got up from the table and started to leave “If there’s one of you there’s bound to be more here if I am so important.
“You can’t” he said
“Why not?” she scoffed “if you are here theirs probably another here somewhere in equestria”
“I'm not just a Time Lord; I'm the last of the Time Lords” The doctor sighed, causing Star to stop and look back at him “and why should I believe that?”
“There was a war. A Time War. The Last Great Time War. My people fought a race called the Daleks, for the sake of all creation And they lost. We lost. Every pony lost. They're all gone now. My family. My friends.” The doctor stared off blankly as if remembering long lost loves. “Just me now, me and my Tardis”
Star looked down with a sad expression on her muzzle, tears dripping onto the Tardis floor “can…can I see her, can we go back and see her when she was alive?”
The doctor didn’t answer he just walked to the Tardis controls “just one rule, no interfering, agreed?”
Star’s muzzle light up as she nodded “yes, yes, I agree” and with that he flipped a few switches and turned a few nobs, the Tardis came to life and she could feel it moving, a sort of wheezing, groaning noise and then stopped “then look outside” he said with a big smile.
Star ran to the door and opened it, looking out she instantly recognized where she was, the hill overlooking the Ponyville Park. The sweet smell of apples and the sound of laughter in the air “it’s the apple festival” she said shocked “that was over a month ago” she looked at the Doctor with a confused look on her muzzle “it really is a time ship, you’re telling the truth”
“Ponies assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, it’s more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey…stuff” he rambled then turned to the now phone booth looking blue box “and with this old girl I can travel that ball of stuff, anywhere, anytime, anyplace”
“You can go anywhere yet you can’t change time?” she looked puzzled “What kind of lord of time are you?”
“One who has seen too much and there are rules” he then pointed down the hill “but enough questions you’re here to see her, remember look don’t touch”
Star Dust looked down the hill to see a familiar pony, her mother laughing and being with her family, “Remember the good times Star Dust, she loved you with everything she had, she didn’t care you had wings, she didn’t care you couldn’t fly, she only cared about the one thing she had”
With tear filled eyes “and what is that?” she asked. He placed his hoof on her shoulder “you” Star took another long look before turning back to the doctor “take me home.”
Star Dust stepped outside the Tardis back into her own time “I am sorry doctor I was angry, and thank you for letting me see her again”
“You’re welcome little Star, and its ok Death dose that” he smiled “you showed a lot of restraint there, most other ponies would have tried to change things despite my warnings” Star looked back at Whooves as she walked out the door “I wanted to Doctor, but if a Lord of time couldn’t save her what could I do?” Star looked up into the sky “besides mom is still watching me” she smiled and wiped away the tears in her eyes.
Her walk home Star tried to recall every happy moment she and her mother spent together, she whipped away the tears and pushed off from the ground and sored into the sky and thought to herself “I know you’re watching me mom, from where ever you are now, I miss you so much but I won’t cry anymore because you can see me fly” she spent the day just in the air over ponyville until she saw her earth bound friends, swooping down to them “Hay Star, you’re looking better.” Cosmic said with a chipper tone.
“I am” Star smiled “I have decided to remember the good times and not dwell on that mom is gown, and to focus on those ponies that are here, keep them safe and keep them close, my friends and my family.”
Her friends all smiled and together joined into a joyful group hug, it was then Star knew what she had to do, she would become stronger and faster to protect any pony in need, to fight for and with them she was then pulled from her thought as her friends gasped the area flashing with light as Star’s flank started to glow brightly revealing a sword behind a shield and the star that was always with her adorned the shield as a crest.
Her friends cheered and inspected her new cutie mark, all of them showing their happiness “To Sugar cube corner!” Cosmic exclaimed and the others cheered there agreement and the four friends made their way to celebrate.
The four friends sat around the table enjoying each other’s company as well as the sweet treats there conversation turning to the upcoming school year.
“Now that you can fly I guess you’re going to want to fly to and from school” Cosmic sighed as she sipped her milk shake.
Star looked down at her own “I…” she sighed “I will be going to the flyers academy in Cloudsdale”
“Hay don’t be sad” splash smiled “we still have time before school starts and Cloudsdale isn’t that far away we will still see each other on the weekends”
“That’s true” Star smiled “and I will be home for holidays”
“Ya!” Splish exclaimed “You’re getting your dream Star, and we wouldn’t be good friends if we kept you here” Splish then hugged Star tightly and whispered in her ear “I need to talk with you in private, later tonight” Star was about to respond but her other friends joined in making it a group hug, the rest of the afternoon flew by as the friends continued to celebrate and just be with each other.
As the sun slowly dipped below the horizon the group of friends all headed home, all except for Star and Splish, they found themselves alone in an awkward silence just facing each other both not sure what to say, Star opened her muzzle to at least star something, that something came very un-expectantly. Splish had moved in quickly to kiss her deeply Splishes hoofs pulling her closer into the embrace.
The moments seem to last a life time as they kissed but sadly that moment was not meant to last, there kiss broke as their eyes still looked deeply into each other’s, Splish the first to speak “I…I wanted to thank you, I just didn’t know how”
“For what?” Star asked bewildered her head spinning some form the kiss.
“Helping me.” Splish moved close brushing her muzzle against Stars “After that first time together I took a long time to think about what I wanted, and …who I wanted” Splish slid her side against Stars slipping under her wing.
“I…” star began but stopped by Splish “I care for you deeply, you and Cosmic are my best friends” she kept walking her back now to Star “I am in love with” she paused to take a breath while Star looked over her shoulder back at her “I love splash, I always have I just never realized it, you showed me that two mares can be together, but she has been there for me, the good, the bad all of it.” Splash turned to see Star’s back still turned to her. “Your upset that it’s not you aren’t you”
“A part of me wanted you to say it was me” she turned to look her friend in the eye “but I am not upset, I am happy you finally know what you want and who you want to be with. I just hope she feels the same way”
Splish sat and smiled a little “I have already talked to her”
“How did that go?” Star asked as she tilted her head questioningly.
“Much the same way our talk did” she giggled “except it was her kissing me”
Star smiled and moved to embrace her friend “I am glad, I just hope she’s not mad at me for umm you know” Splish shook her head “she’s not, she still wants a turn” both friends giggled. “We should get going it’s getting late” Splish said as she nuzzled, then both friends turning towards their respective homes.
The darkness never bothered Star Dust; she seemed at home in it now more so that she was airborne, in the air it was so much quieter only the rustle of her feathers and the occasional flap of her large wings broke the stillness of the night. Her eyes never failed her in the darkness allowing her to admire the stars above her and the lush green of the forest below; lost in thought she glided aimlessly not realizing she had flown over the Everfree forest and what was worse a storm as brewing.
A sudden prickle of cold rain hit against Stars nose breaking her from her trance making her look around and become panicked, she looked to the sky at the black clouds “This is not good” she said out loud her words followed by a loud crack of thunder and a streak of lightning flashing before her knocking her back and sending her plummeting to the ground.
Star Dust lay in mud as the storm continued to rage above her, her eyes barley open and her breath slow and ragged “Guess I don’t have to wait to see you again mom” she thought to herself as she felt the world slip away from her.
The morning sunlight was so worm and the air filled with the scent of morning breakfast and a tender song filled the air, a song only her mother would sing to gently wake her love ones from there slumber. Star shielded her blurry eyes from the morning light “Mom?” she looked to her bedroom door and standing there with a bright smile on her muzzle was Amethyst “wake up my little Star” she chirped.
“Mom?” Star’s voice trembled as her eyes filled with tears, pulling the covers form her and rushing to hug and hold her mother “Mom your alive, It must have been a dream, I had this horrible nightmare that you were killed by a bolder in the quarry” star stammered as she held tightly onto her mother who stayed quiet “mom?” star looked into amethysts face that now dawned a sad look “I am sorry my little Star, I love you and miss you so much” amethysts voice shook “but you have to wake up” the world around them slowly going black and her mother slowly slipping away “MOM!” star cried over and over, just before her mother vanished Star heard her shout back. “I love you my little star, tell your father the same and that I miss him the next time you see him”
The forest slowly began to wake with the first rays of sunlight, the small woodland creatures starting to begin there hunt for food as well as something else. Star slowly opened her eyes, the morning sun as harsh as the flash of lightning from the night before her mind still unfocused and somewhat lost in dream and unable to get her body to move but still her hearing remained sharp she could hear the hoof steps of some pony nearby and the clank of metal.
Through blurred eyes Star looked in the direction the noise was coming from but all she could see was the dark outline of three ponies. The smallest of the three moved in closer to get a better look at the mud covered pony “Sir, this pony is still alive” she spoke with surprise in her voice “She is in once peace, no major injuries wait what’s this?” the unknown mare wiped the mud from Stars wing and in shock jumped back.
“Private Amberfiend report!” the larger spoke with a commanding tone.
“Sir…” her voice shuttered and turned to face her commander “This pony has wings!” It was then that Star began to regain her senses and strength “That will teach me to fly in a storm” she said groggily as she tried to stand but her body still too weak “ok scratch that idea ill just lay here” she turned her attention to the three unfamiliar ponies giving them a quick look over, each donning a strange armor nothing like the armor that the royal guard of equestria wore. “O hello, thanks for coming to my rescue, hope I didn’t cause to much of a fuss”
The larger colt stepped forward “I am sorry but no one sent us my lady” he turned to the colt at his left and softly spoke “get some medics and keep it quiet”
“Is something wrong sir?” Star looked at him puzzled “why would he need to keep it quiet?”
He looked back to Star who was covered and mud from her mane to her hoofs “You’re a mess my lady, wouldn’t you rather clean up before we help you home?”
Star squinted her eyes sensing the deception in his words “ok now I know something is wrong” she gathered her strength and stud spreading her large wings out shaking the mud from them and her fur, the colt going wide eyed at seeing her wingspan, the blackness of her fur, the tips of white that adorned her and the mark on her flank. Private Amberfiend watched in astonishment then dropped to her knees and bowing her head, shortly followed by the colt.
The bewildered star looked at the two of them and was about to speak when the colt said “Forgive us, majesty”
“Majesty?” she blinked “why are you calling me that?” The colt looked up at her “you’re not related to the Queen, are you not of the angelus?”
Star laughed “I am so not related to Princess Celestia, what would ever give you that idea?” she flicked mud from her wings “I have never heard of the angelus not even in mythology class”
“Pardon me my lady but who is Princess Celestia?” the colt standing and retaking his commanding stance. “You are a Pegasus pony, are you not?”
Star had started pulling clumps of remaining mud from her fur “yes I am but it’s not like I am the only one in Equestria” she chuckled “ugh, I so need a hot bath”
He looked at her with a confused look “My lady this is not Equestria, I do not know where that is, you are in the Empire of Grimoires” he looked over his shoulder to the approaching medics and turned and spoke quickly “I do not have much time to explain” he moved close so he could lower his voice “You have arrived in the middle of a civil war, The current Queen has gown mad, we were led by her daughter Princess Sapphire but the Queen captured her and had her put to death” he looked back checking his time “Please my lady until we can figure this out, play the part, I beg you, play the part of Angelus.” He knelt as he pleaded with her.
Star looked off into the distance clearly able to see smoke and remembered her pledge to her friends and to herself “Alright, I still want to find out where home is to at least tell my family I am safe, but for now I will be your Queen, your Angelus”
“Thank the Evening Star” he sighed and looked at her when she giggled “My lady?”
“You’re welcome” she responded still seeing the confusion on his muzzle “Maybe I should introduce myself, my name is Evening Star Dust, but I guess you can call me Queen Star Dust, though Empress sounds better” she saw the bewilderment fill his eyes before he bowed and said in a humble tone “I, Lance Riverrage, Knight of Grimoires swear my life to you Empress Evening Star Dust” he reached out and took her hoof in his and kissed it causing Star to blush.
The medic ponies approached and bowed “Majesty” the three ponies said at the same time “I am chief medical officer Targus” another pony stepped forward and bowed “Majesty are you hurt?”
Star bowed in return “nothing a hot bath can’t fix” she smiled brightly “Thank you for your concern Targus”
“Thin.. Think nothing of it majesty” he bowed low, Star watching his mannerisms and turned to Sir Lance “Let me guess; the Queen is rude and unkind”
Lance nodded “that and, if I may be so bold, far more lovely despite the mud” he bowed to her “Tha…..that’s the first time any pony has said that to me” Star blushed brightly and leaned down and kissed him on the forehead “Thank you Lance”
The other ponies around them gasped and whispered amongst each other and stopped as Star looked at them “what?” they didn’t answer “come now no pony kisses another pony in thanks?
“It’s not that majesty” private Amberfiend quivered “the queen is always angry and…”
“A royal pain in the flank from the sounds of things” Star jumped in “Your new Empress will not be”
“Majesty we should get moving” Targus broke the awkwardness and spoke with care in his voice “I do not want the Empress to catch ill”
“Once again your concern is touching” Star smiled “then let us be on our way” she turned back to lance who was still bowed and whispered to him “come on time to lead your Empress home”
The group had walked most of the day keeping to hidden trails and seldom used paths, Star could see as one path came close to a village, half burnt, the bodies of ponies lying in ash. Star stopped and watched as a young filly cried over her mother’s body, remembering the same feeling “Who could do such a thing?” she asked aloud “That is what she does when a village tries to defy her” Targus said as he approached her “and this is not the half of it she…” his words cut off when the young filly’s screams filled the air followed by the voices of soldiers.
“No let me go” the filly cried “stop squirming runt this won’t hurt, much” growled a large soldier who had grabbed her by the arm.
“What is he doing?” Star questioned and took a few steps closer to the edge of the forest. “Please majesty we must stay out of sight” Lance pleaded with her.
“Please don’t take my daughter” the voice of an older colt shouted “she’s all I…gaaah”
“Shut your muzzle” another soldier growled and kicked the old pony down “Daddy” the filly cried out “Come on, let’s have some fun, and this time I get to go first you had the last one”
Lance stepped in front of Star “We must go majesty, there’s nothing we can do” Star stepped back and gave him a stern look and stretched out her wings lifting them up “There is always something we can do, now are you a Knight or are you a mouse?” she slammed her hoof down.
Lance looked at her his mind searching for an answer “While you figure that out ponies are dying, suffering, and I will not stand for it” Star jumped high into the air and sored toward the village.
“What do we do?” one of the medics questioned as the group looked toward Lance who had finally come to his senses “We fight, we protect our empress and we protect our fellow ponies” he turned watching star glide silently and majestically then started galloping “CHARGE” he shouted catching the soldiers attention.
“It’s the rebels” one shouted causing the other to drop his prize and turn to face the charging group “to arms” he shouted “to arms” causing hidden soldiers to come to his side along with their leader “Ha, it’s that coward Lance, looks like I get to end his little rebellion”
Above star watched and spotted her target “Forgive me Celestia, for what I must do” she whispered and then she dived tucking her wings in gaining speed the wind rushing past her, Stars eyes never lousing track of the soldier who had grabbed the filly.
“Sir, he doesn’t look so cowardly” one said to the leader “desperate ponies doing desperate things” there leader laughed aloud.
“FOR THE EMPRESS!” Lance shouted his voice filled with fire and renewed vigor.
“Empress?” the leader raised an eyebrow. “What madness is he up to this time?”
Star Dusts aim was true and direct with a loud crash she slammed down upon her target, her hoofs crushing the bewildered soldier’s spine and sending the others that were near to the ground as well. The confusion caused the soldiers to scatter and there leader to turn to see star standing proudly over her pray with wings held high, a sight he could not admire long for Lance slammed into him knocking him to the ground and reared up lifting his hoofs high before coming down hard crushing his skull.
The remaining soldiers were overwhelmed by Stars presence and the sudden loss of their commander and surrendered quickly.
“So a Knight after all” Star smiled proudly at Lance “but next time…” a grunt coming from the soldier she had crushed, looking at him for a moment the stomping hard with her hoof finishing him off “as I was saying, next time Sir Lance, do not hesitate when lives are at stake”
Star stepped off of the broken mess and walked over to him and looked down at the commander Lance had slain then back to the soldier’s “All of you are a disgrace to the Empire” she growled “the lot of you should be executed, but I won’t, enough have died” she looked around at the growing crowd of villagers “now go, go back to your pathetic queen and give her a message, tell her that the Angelus of the Evening Star is here.” The soldiers said nothing they just panicked and took off leaving the village.
Star turned back to Lance and spoke calmly “Are you alright?”
“Majesty?” lance questioned.
She looked down at the blood covering his hoofs “He was more than the commander of them wasn’t he” Lances muzzle filling with a sorrow “when you’re ready I will listen” her voice filled with a comforting tone.
The young filly that the soldier’s tried to take approached and nervously spoke “Thank you” Star turned and looked down at the filly “you are most welcome little one” and then gently nuzzled “and I am sorry I was not here sooner” Star looked over at what remained of her filly’s mother.
Star turned to Lance “Thank you my lady” the filly’s father said as he embraced his daughter “you are not like the queen, she is evil, and she is not a true angelus like you are” Star turned back to the crowd that had now formed around the area.
“She is not worthy of those names” Star said plainly “nor is she worthy of the name pony, her kind of evil would disgust even Princess Luna” Star’s muzzle began to fill with anger “what kind of pony could do such a thing”
“Princess Luna?” asked the filly
Star sighed “sorry I forgot this isn’t equestria and we are no ware near Canterlot”
The crowd of pony’s whispered amongst themselves as Lance spoke “wait Canterlot, your from Canterlot?” his voice filled with awe and excitement.
“No I am from ponyville; it’s about a day’s journey from Canterlot” Star corrected him. Lance was lost for words his mind going back to the story’s that inspired him to become a knight, tails of honesty and kindness, songs of laughter and generosity, deeds of loyalty and magic.
“Canterlot is only a myth” said one of the villagers “story’s only meant to help little colts and filly’s go to sleep at night”
“I assure you, Canterlot is quite real, I have been there when I was a young filly, and I have seen its white towers glimmering in the sun light, the banners caught high in the morning breeze” Star looked up as pride filled her “I have herd the clear ringing of silver trumpets that herald the princesses arrival” a longing look on her muzzle as if remembering a happier time.
“What of the Knights” Lance’s voice quivered.
“The royal knights of Canterlot to this day uphold their oaths” star smiled “but since the princesses began there rule, equestria has enjoyed peace, allowing the knights to enjoy family life and serve the princesses in other ways”
The crowd that had been listening intently to her words had grown, and the dark feelings that had griped the village began to lift as hope crept back into their hearts. “Someday I will return to equestria but not until I rid Grimoires of the evil that plague it” Star said with a steely look on her muzzle as the crowd cheered.
The day had gotten late and the time had arrived that they must continue their way to where Lance and his army were camped, many of the villagers thanked star before she left and a few of the healthier pony’s stepped up and joined the cause. The older pony and his daughter among them, turned out he was a blacksmith now ready to use his craft once again.
Lance trotted a few feet behind Star lost in thought as to the events of the day it hadn’t felt so alive in a long time, the adrenalin of the battle still flowing through his veins and mixing with the pride he once again felt, the pride of being a knight. His gaze sometimes looking up from the ground to the rump that wiggled in front of him, he knew he shouldn’t look but his hormones getting the better of him. Star looked back just in time to catch him looking making her smile and giggle to herself then remembered how her mother’s hips moved and started doing the same, her tail flicking ever so slightly to the side granting Lance a view he would never forget.
Sunlight started to fade as they reached the camp that was nestled at the base of a mountain, ragged tents and barley light fires doted the camp grounds, star looked around as lance began to rally the soldiers, she could see they were cold, tired, broken she knew what she had to do.
Before Lance could say anything she jumped into the air and sored around the camp extending her wings as far as they could go before flapping them hard and loud getting every ponies attention pulling them from their weary daze, awe struck they all looked up watching her, Star made a few laps around the camp before perching at the center atop of a flag pole her wings extend out and up and with a clear loud voice she spoke ”The picture drawn has a dark sky but I see a glimpse of light, clear starlight” directly behind her as the sun set, her name sake shone brightly “I am Evening Star Dust, angelus of the evening star, and I come to you now at the turn of the tide”
She then dropped down to the ground making a loud thump, keeping her wings held high she walked among the bewildered soldiers, she noticed that mare’s too were among them clad in armor, she approached one causing the armored mare to kneel “every pony has given so much but I must ask you to give more, for the sake of the foals to come, for their freedom, for an empire where no pony has fear in their hearts” she reached down and pulled the mare to her hoofs “where all ponies are treated fairly and with respect”
The army around her remained quiet only the flapping of flags and the wind through Stars wings filled the air, she then turned and shouted “fight with me, regain your empire, bring hope back to its frightened heart” the soldiers looked at each other unsure what to say.
“What say you” star shouted and turned about looking them in the eyes “what say you?”
With a tremendous cheer they finally responded, the air that had been saturated with dismay now filled with cheers of hope and renewed life, Lance quickly took advantage of this new energy getting every pony to rebuild their camp, tend to wounded, and make a place for star.
The tent that was set for her was not the grandest but she thanked the ponies, who built it none the less, inside a wash basin and hot water awaited her both items a welcome sight as the mud had become dry and stiff. The tent kept most of the cold night air out as she washed the mud from her fur, not the bath she wanted but it would have to do, she took her time cleaning her wings and fur, the hot water soothing the pain she felt in her body her fall to earth had caused more hurts than damage. Suddenly she gasped her hoof brushing over her mound “if I went so tired I would continue that” she whispered to herself “but I must clean it” Lance approached the tent where star was cleaning herself and stud just outside, he had arrived just in time to hear her whisper to herself.
Were as most other ponies would have walked away he could only stand there his chipped ear twitching every time star moaned, his hot breath fogging in the cool night air as he shifted his weight from one hoof to the other.
“Where is Splish when you need her” Star said out loud then went quiet dropping the washcloth in the basin and began to sob the realization of all that had happened finally hitting her, no idea where she was, thrust into leadership of an country she had no idea existed and asked to fight a pony who’s evils were beyond anything she knew of all in the span of a day, she closed her eyes as tears streaked her cheeks.
“Please don’t cry” came lances voice from outside the tent “I know it’s my fault, I am sorry I have placed all this responsibility on you, all the hopes of every pony in Grimoires” his paused and moved inside the tent “a burden no pony should have to carry, not alone” he knelt and bowed his head “and as your Knight it is my duty to be by your side, to help carry that burden”
Star wiped the tears from her eyes “thank you Lance” she turned her head to look back at him watching him stand and turn towards the tent entrance catching a glimpse of his swollen sheath and the flared tip of his manhood making her blush and realize he must have herd her moans.
“You don’t have to go” she said facing him “I rather not be alone tonight.” She started to blush “and I could use the help getting this mud out”
Lance froze in his tracks “I should get one of the mares to help you with that” he stammered.
“I would rather you” she moved closer to him standing at his flank gently brushing against him until he could feel her hot breath on his neck as she nuzzled against him. Lance turned to her “I shouldn’t, I mean you’re an angelus and I am an earth pony” star looked him right in the eyes with a flirtatious look on her muzzle “you’re a stallion and I am a mare, it is as simple as that” she flicked her tail.
Lance’s heart raced as did his mind, Grimoires new empress wanted him, an angelus wanted him, no, he thought hard not those she is Evening Star Dust a gorgeous mare of exceptional exquisiteness needed him this night. Lance turned and walked towards her with a stern look on his muzzle making her step backward slowly making him stop and tilt his head.
Star could see slight confusion in his eyes “sorry it’s my first time with a stallion” she stopped moving back letting him come closer. He smiled gently as he picked up the wet cloth from the basin “I will try and be gentle” he said gently as he ringed out the cloth “where is the mud you cannot get at?” Star turned presenting her rump to him, her tail lifting up and out of the way “It’s a little embarrassing but down there” her cheeks flushing red.
Lance admired the lovely rump of the mare before him before moving the cloth to it starting at the top near the ring of her anus and slowly moving the cloth around it, shivers course down stars spine that made her gasp. His movements remained gentle as he cleaned the mud from around her most sensitive parts, his movements gentler than her own when she had tried.
Star’s breath shivered as he worked on cleaning the flesh around her slit his movements skillful as he teased her bringing the cloth to brush ever so gently against her virgin folds. Lowering her head she looked under herself and could clearly see that this was having a profound effect on him as well.
Star studied the shaft that hung down, her eyes going wide as she watched it stiffen and grow in length and girth; this was the first time she had seen a male pony this close and she had hoped it would not be the last. Stars thoughts were interrupted as lance had dropped the cloth to the floor and had begun to slide his hot wet thong over her folds making her let out a audible moan and her body to respond in kind spreading her hind legs apart and flicking her tail completely out of the way, lance moved his hoofs up placing them on her firm rump.
Lance gave a few hard licks before pulling himself up onto her back and bucking his hips a few times before the flared tip of his pony hood was engulfed by Stars hot tight pussy making him grit his teeth. Star bit her lip as she felt him force his way into her, and whimpered as she continued to watch below her seeing a streak of blood go down her inner leg, this combined with a sharp pain let her know that she had been deflowered.
Lance tried to be genital but his need and her tightness made him thrust hard and long, his head lay over her shoulder as he grunted stars moans mixing with them and with each thrust she shook in pleasure. Star once again opened her eyes as she looked under herself and let out a long moan seeing that his entire length slipped back and forth into her and his baseball size ball sack swing back and forth hitting against her, a glint cot her eye there peeking into the tent door were the two who were assigned to guard her, she smirked some knowing there love making would not stay secret.
Despite Lance’s eager thrusts and her tightness there embrace went on for hours but finally he could no longer hold back, moving his head up and getting a tighter grip on her he thrust hard one last time as he bit down on the back of her neck making her yelp then shiver hard as she felt the heat of his thick seed fill her to capacity and then run down her legs, she joined him in bliss as she came her large wings extending out and twitching as wave after wave of pleasure shot down her spine.
Lance lay over her with his length still deep inside “sorry majesty” he panted “I couldn’t help myself”
Star’s legs shook from exhaustion and pleasure “don’t apologize” she shivered some and her front legs gave out making her kneel down, lance took the queue and slid out of her making her moan as well as all the seed that was trapped inside her start to pore out and down her legs, Star then staggered to the bed that was made for her and flopped down into it her eyes fluttering from the pleasure and exhaustion.
“Rest now my empress” Lance whispered to her as he pulled the blankets over her then turned to leave.
“Thank you lance, don’t make this the last time that happens ok” she tiredly spoke; he simply nodded with a content smile on his muzzle and left the tent.
The two guards quickly went back to attention but one bravely said “lucky stallion” Lance looked to him causing him to snap back to attention
