This fortress represents the proud of the kingdom, and it's a show of the power of the princesses' power, and because of that, it's the center of the entire realm. But it wasn't a normal night, and it all started when the moon turned into a black-purple colored sphere, instigating fear and worry over the land of the glorious Canterlot, hovering the Castle under a shadow of sorrow. Celestia, the majestic queen of the kingdom looked at it, through the window, and started to think about the reason of that never seen before phenomenon. "I must tell my Sister. She must know about this." And so, the alicorn alked down the stairs in order to find her sister. Soon, she reached her sister's chamber, and with a worried look, talked to her about that event. "... It's not anything we've faced before, Luna! I feel great power coming from that sphere, and i also feel dischord and disharmony coming from it... it is making me feel anxious." "Is that so? ... We can't leave anything like that fright the entire realm! Let's go, my sister, we should get rid of it as soon as we can." The Princesses left the castle and took a look around them. There was nothing but just a dark shadow covering the surface of Equestria's capital city. As soon as they looked at the sphere, it compressed itself and turned into a black, white shining eyed Alicorn, twice the size of Celestia, with a waving not-cloud like mane, but a disheveled one. The sisters came close to it, and, looking into its glowing eyes, asked it for what was it doing. "Who are you, -Asked Luna- And what do you want here?" "Or, better we say, what are you -Replied her sister.?" The giant dark figure looked at them for a while, and started to talk with a creepy voice, remembering a lot of mares and stallions talking at the same time, making the own land tremble. "I am... the dark messenger from the Nothingness, -Said the black one- and i came here to turn Void's desire in reality. You, miserable princesses of this kingdom, shall not interfere with the Void's will, or else, you'll be destroyed and turned into ashes." "And do you think we shall be scared of you? -Asked Luna- Are you even related to that Draconequus? "Oh, the losser. He doesn't even knows who was he working for, Ha ha ha ha... -Replied the dark one." "What is that "Void's desire"?-Said Celestia-" The black Alicorn smiled with perversion, and speaked something that both queens would never forget. "To destroy everything, to destroy everything you've made, because you've launched all the hate and disharmony to the Void, to the nothingness, but it now wants to get its revenge, and i am the one who will get rid... of your damned "love and friendship" kingdom." Celestia was shocked by that answer, and Luna raged after that. "-Who... who the hell are you? -Asked Luna." The darken psychopathically laughed, and looked with evil eyes to both princesses, and then, spoke the most terrible words it could have ever said. "I am Distortion! I belong to the void, it belongs to me, your kingdom and all you've created will be reduced to nothing, and will be turned in hate and fear!" The Sisters couldn't wait any longer, and laucnhes powerful energy beams from their horns. Almost hiting it, the dark one created a barrier with it own horn, and dispelled the beams. Then, it screamed furiously and made a block energy sphere from itself, hiting both Alicorns without giving them any chance to move. Distortion defeated them without any consideration Luna was the most affected, as she was hited and lost her frontal hooves and her left wing, falling to the ground and twisting of suffering. Celestia was wounded and started to bleed from her right side, with her right wing completely burned, and her left one halved. She both were inmediately reduced. "Go ahead and leave me. -Said Luna, spitting blood- and warn Twilight about this!" "But i can't leave you!" "Just the damned do it!" Distortion launches an energy beam from its horn, charring the dying Luna, who just screamed of pain and suffering. Celestia couldn't believe what was she viewing. her own sister was fried in front of her, and she could do nothing but just cry of sorrow... "Oh, Are you crying yet? -Asked Distortion- You shall not, soon you'll be with her, too!" Celestia used the her low strength to cast a teleport spell, and she went to her chamber. And soon as she did it, she started to write a letter to someone special: Twilight Sparkle. But even through she did it for the god of the kingdom, she wasn't able to hold back her tears, now that she lost her sister. "Twilight, I have no time for explications, You must be aware of this foe, he isn't anything that you can't fight alone, you'll need your friends, to seal this enemy, once and forever... You might not see me again, but you must know that you are my best student, my favorite one, and that wherever i am, i'll be supporting you." After cast the card-sending spell, Celestia faints under the darkness of her room. Meanwhile, Distortion was reducing Canterlot to ashes with its energy beams and charring energy spheres, and assimilating everypony who tried to stop it. "So she escaped... It doesn't matter now, this town will be the first to fall under the Void's will... Pray your plea!" Distortion laughed and laughed as a crazy one, it could not be any happier with the bloody mess it was doing, and so, its powers were strengthening. Soon as it finished to erradicate all the remains of Canterlot, the only building left was the ruin of the Royal Castle. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: The side of the Noble Friend //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: The side of the Noble Friend Five days before the arrive of Distortion. There is a hard-working farmer pony with a splendid and wavy orange mane in Ponyville, named after her profession and her ability: Golden Harvest Golden Harvest, Carrot top for her friends, is the carrot farmer of the little ville, and she is one of the most experts on her role: she is completely devoted to the productivity of her farm. Every morning, during the Harvest season, she wakes up early and gets ready for her duty as soon as the sun shows its rays. "Another day of hard work." She thinks "I thank the life for being so nice with me." As soon as she gets up, she walks through the corridor of her house and sees a room with the door opened. She slides slowly in order to enter the room. She sees a grey, blonde mare sleeping over the bed, and hugging a pale purple filly, who is sleeping too. "Hey, Derpy! You should wake up. Have you forgotten that it isn't sunday yet?" The grey pegasus slowly raises her head and watches the carrot-lover, with her special trait: the crossed eyes. She speaks some words, if well these are random, Golden is used to them: "What? Muffins? Where?". Golden looks at her and laughs a bit, then, she answers: "Not yet! you must bake them" Derpy Hooves, the mailmare, gets up and leaves the little filly sleep on her bed. She seems like any other pegasus except for her crossed eyes. "Hey, Crossy" Says Golden, "What will you do when you're back at home?". Derpy replies, "I guess i could help you with harvesting". Golden smiles, "That would be so nice from you. Thanks, my friend." As soon as she finished her sentence, the sound of a growl, a loudly one, crosses the room. "That must be Amethyst" Says the orange-mane, "Should you wake her up?". Derpy answers with calm, "Nah, i think i'm going to let her sleep, Anyway, it's saturday.", Golden replied, and ended the conversation. "Well, let your two daughter sleep, I'm going to cook the breakfast" Soon as she said it, she left the grey mare and went to te kitchen, searching for bowls and some cereals. "Derpy would love them! Mmmhh... Wait, where did i put the muffin-chocolate flavored one?". And so, the morning went on with Golden looking for the lost cereal box on her cupboards, wondering where she has putted it. Along with the search, she could remember when they became cohabitants. ____________________________________________________________________ 6 months ago Burning, that was how her house was. It was charred by the flames. What went wrong isn't known, but of course, no one can live on a house while it is blazing. But, why was Derpy Hooves living on a house over the land, and not on the sky? It's easy: She has adopted two unicorn, and as we all know, only Pegasi can live on the sky. How she adopted them is unknown, but they were a happy family, a rare one, but happy at the end. At least, it was before the disaster happened. "Fire!" screamed the ponies around the house. As soon as Golden heard the alarm, she ran there, just to see that the fire was already extinguished thanks to the unicorns, casting water-spells over the catatrophe. But there was something that just a powerful rebuild-spell would fix, and there was no one powerful enough to cast it, and because of that, in front of the ashes of her house, Derpy Hooves was sad, as everyone around, but they couldn't stop what were they doing, and so, everyone returned to their normal activities in that fateful moment. Golden looked at the poor pegasus, who was hugging her two daughters, trying to comfort them, but was unable to hold back her tears. This was unacceptable, and the carrot-lover couldn't sit on her hooves and watch this. And because of that, The orange-mane mare approached her friend. "You... you can stay at my home, if it helps you" The sound of those words changed the sad face of the mailmare, and turned it into a radiant, shining eyes one, who looked at her. "W-would you allow me to?". Golden replied, "Of course... we are friends, aren't we? and now that you need a home, i give you mine." The mailmare couldn't hold her happines, her pain tears turned into joy ones, and she felt how the friendship of Golden Harvest was more than just friendship, it was a blessing, a blessing which would allow her and her unicorn daughters to be happy again. Derpy Hooves was always a bit clumsy and carefree... well, very clumsy, and when she and her family moved that afternoon to Golden's house, she couldn't be any happier. Golden had a very big house, inherited from her family, and she used most of the rooms to store her tools. "You can use this. Just let me clean it" said Golden, but Derpy wasn't okay with it, "We clean it. I can't let you do it all alone! I want to be useful too." Golden smiled and answered with happyness, "Fine, fine, just don't mess with the..." Then, she could see that derpy was on the ground, surrounded of disordered hoes and carts. "... The tools..." "I just don't know what went wrong". "Nevermind, I'll take care of this, you... you go and take a walk". "Well, thanks but i'd preffer to..." "Take a walk, you need it to free all the stress". "Fine, you've won this time." Derpy left with her daughters and toured for the entire town, trying to avoid the place where her house was so she couldn't have any problem. Meanwhile, the carrot pony started to move the carts with tools to the storehouse, but she was wondering what would Derpy do in the next days, and anxiety started to fill her, "I hope she doesn't destroy the entire orchard..:" ________________________________________________________________________ "Yeah, that is a good memory... Amethyst wanted to sleep in her own room, so we left her on the opposited one, and Dinky wanted to be with her mother. As they did, the life was good once again, and soon, they forgot about the fire incident. I'd like to congratulate Derpy for her firmness, i'd really love to." Thought Golden Harvest. Then, the sounds of the fridge clossing called her atention, and her green eyes turned to it, just to get surprised by a hungry  mare eating the last of her food. Even through she was used to this, Golden didn't expect that too soon in the morning. "Oh no... don't tell me that..." Said Golden, worried. "I emptied your fridge" Replied Derpy Hooves. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: The side of the Devoted Mother //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: The side of the Devoted Mother Four days before the arrive of Distortion. If there is someone who Ponyille would never forget, is the clumsy, eye-crossed, and a bit disheveled mailmare Derpy Hooves, a hardworker, victim of Murphy, special in many senses, that can be called crazy, carefree, silly, but there is a concept in everypony's mind about this special gray mare: she was a selfless mother. Oh, the mailmare, such an example for many ponies. She wakes up every single morning to take care of her children, to make herself sure her daughters are fine. Yesterday, Golden Harvest, her friend and cohabitant, started the harvest season. As this day was Sunday, the gray mare didn't need to go to the work, so she stayed with her family, helping the green-eyes mare with the carrot harvest. "So, i put the shovel at the side of the row, then i push the tool in order to remove the carrots, i check they don't have spots or holes and i put them on the basket, and that is? Doesn't sounds complicated:" said Derpy while she was holding the shovel. "It isn't that easy if you look how many carrots we have to take! Believe me, you'll be tired, very tired." replied her friend, "But we can rest whenever you want, just don't take so much time and everything is going to be fine" "He he, yeah, i guess. As long as nothing disturb us, we shouldn't have any problem, so let's work! those carrots won't harvest by themselves!" finished Derpy. Then, the mailmare and her farmer friend started the work, while Amethyst and Dinky were playing on the fountain. "Just try it, hold the water with the magic spell and try to transform it into a pony-like form, It requires practice but i know you'll do it!" was what the lavender unicorn said. She used her horn to take some liters of the essencial liquid and ordered it as a earth pony. "I-i'll try... okay, here we go... one... two... three!" then, the filly tried to use her powers to raise the water from the fountain, and she almost got it, but she couldn't held the liquid and failed, causing it to splash loudly on the fountain. "Oh no, i've failed again!" "Just keep trying, i know you'll do it soon, don't give up, little sister." answered Amethyst, trying to cheer the filly up, hugging her so that she could feel her support. Derpy Hooves, looking at them and couldn't do anything but smile, thinking about them. "They've grown so much since i met them, i'm so proud of it." Golden Harvest, the orange mane, looked at her happily. "She seems to have overcame the difficulties, which is very wonderful. never change, Crossy, never change." Thought the pony, before continue with her work. The gray mare was working, but she was also thinking, thinking about the past, the situations, and more important: her family, her rare, but lovely family. She can remember when they joined to be forever together. _____________________________________________________________________________ 1 year and half ago "There is something that bothers me, Golden, are those two unicorns at the corner, trying to sell those souvenirs from... wherever these souvenirs are from. I've noticed that they don't look happy." commented Derpy Hooves, while she and Golden Harvest were drinking milkshake under the shadow of the table with parasol. The mailmare had a saddlebag, with her pay-packet in, after the effort done in  the month. "As did i, my friend, but i couldn't do anything for them" replied the green-eyed mare. "But i can, I'll be back." "Wait, what are you going to do?" "I've been lonely recently." "So... what? what will you do about it?" Derpy didn't answer, she left when Golden said the last words. Soon, she apprached to the 2 unicorn, one of them was a pretty and attractive pruple-colored mare, but with a worried look, and the other was a filly, a lavender one, with a sad look. When they saw the blonde pegasus approached, they smiled with joy. "Good afternoon, miss, would you like to check our store?" said the pruple one. "I think i'll ask who are you, salesponies. My name is Derpy Hooves, as you may have noticed." then, she rolled her eyes. "What about you?" "My name is Amethyst Star, and this is my little Sister, Dinky Doo" "A pleasure." continued Dinky. "The pleasure is mine, what sort of things do you sell?" asked Derpy. "Well, we sell souvenirs from Fillydelphia, Los Pegasus and other cities of the kingdom, What would you like to buy?" answered Dinky. Derpy hooves looked at them and smiled, "Mmmhh.. what about this: I give you 35 gold coins, and we take a walk, do you mind?" Amethyst showed a radiant shine in her eyes, and her worried face turned into a happy and beauty one, reflecting excitement, but she had to ask something before that, "But, miss, we must save our commodity before we can leave." "And where would you save it?" Asked Derpy. "In a rented Cottage, not so far of here." answered Amethyst. "Oh, i see. Well, here you have. ." Derpy said while tok the money from her saddlebag and gave it to them, "Just wait me there, i'll bring a friend" Soon as she went to Golden and told her about the walk, the happy unicorns saved their commodity and prepared to save it. I would not be a problem, it was even a very happy afternoon. Derpy and Golden, with the unicorns, walked through the entire town, looked for places, hd fun with the animals, and they even ate a cake, courtesy of the Cake family. At the end of the day, after the sunset, under the shadow of a hill, there were 4 mares resting. Derpy watched the two sisters together, inspiring happyness and calm. "Mmhh.. Girl, do you mind if i ask you something?" Amethyst replied, "No, we don't, go ahead." "Why aren't your parents with you?" Amethyst took her time to answer, looked like if answer it were something that she would be displeased to do, but at the end, she solved the mailmare's doubt. "We just don't have parents." "W-what happened to them." asked Golden Harvest before Derpy could. They both looked worried and shocked. "Well... let me explain this." said Amethyst Star. "We lost them 1 year ago. Some sort of monster, with several headsattacked our city: Fillydelphia. News after the disaster informed that is was a hydra, and was summoned by somepony, an student or so. With her, 24 ponies were victims of that monster. It wasn't until the guard could slay the monster, that the town could save from the destruction. But... our parents were already... and we had to find some way to survive, but nopony bought our commodity, so we traveled for all Equestria trying... but it was pretty hard to live so..." The tears were about to come out from the unicorns. Derpy asked, shocked, but asked before an almost broken down earth-pony could, "I see... Well, i would ask you to come with me. I wouldn't have any problem to care you both. Even more, i'd be pleased to." "W-what?... W-would you do it for us? Nopony have ever worried for us." Said Dinky. "Yes, i would love to care you both, i would love to be with you... I-i just can't sit on my hooves and watch you two everyday, trying to get money, living on a... rented house. Come with me, you'll feel better..." Amethyst and Dinky smiled, looking at the gray pegasus' eyes. Couldn't hold the tears, happyness tears, fill with joy and hope, hope of a new begin. As they did, that afternoon was one of the best of their life. ____________________________________________________________________________ "They're so cute! they're content and pleased, they're my girls, my daughters, and i love them, even if they are from a different family, now they're mine. And i'll be pleased to see them made ponies of good... I'm proud of you both" Thought Derpy. "I did it! Did you see? I-DID-IT!", Dinky couldn't be happier, she has learned to control the magic and she has succesfully formed the water-pony figure. "That's my sister! I'm impressed and glad. Oh Dinky, you've done it!" replied Star, hugging the little filly. In the distance, the happy crossed-eyes mare, while harvesting carrots, was calm and relaxed. "He-hey, Derpy, Is there something that bothers you?" Asked Golden Harvest. "N-nothing! I am happy, that's all." Derpy replied and smiled, looking at her daughters. "I am really happy." Late, on that sunset Dinky was talking to her mother, under a tree, while they were watching how the afternoon turned on night. "Mom... why are your eyes like that?" asked the curious filly. Derpy smiled and looked at her, "One is to see if the world is secure, and other, is to see you and your sister grow."
