After Twilight received a letter, from a unicorn from a village in the north of Equestria, she and her friends are sent there by Princess Celestia to investiage. Strange things are happening there in the North: Forests are dying and ponies mysteriously disappear. When Pinkie Pie and the pegasus mare Sunsplit suddenly disappear without a trace everypony assumes the worse, but quickly they realise what exactly they have gotten themselves into…
