Chapter 1
Load Full Story‘The blood red sky above Equestria shook as thunder roared through the sky and a frightening visage of a monstrous creature caused devastation over the lands. Its eyes, a glowing deep red as it smashed its massive clawed fist into the ground. It roared in annoyance as the twin sisters of day and night fought it back to no avail only increasing the creature’s unquenchable anger. It swatted the sisters away like flies as another fist came down upon the small village, far away watching as the village was destroyed three heroes nodded to each other in silent agreement, Block smasher the brave, the strongest of all earth ponies, carrying a sword that cut the very air, Then, White light, a powerful unicorn whose armor of enchanted mythril, her magic said to rival even the goddesses, Finally was the pegasus of no name carrying but a staff, his wings out stretched in a magnificent light as he thundered through the skies at speed pegasai had only dreamed about at the time, each hero took their place and by ancient rites sealed the terror away beneath the very land we stand upon today’ the book read as Celestia sighed, looking out the window at a small statue arrangement in the garden an earth pony , a unicorn, and a pegasus, all arranged in a triangle. As a tear slides down her cheek, she puts the book away walking out to tend to her royal business.
Galileo walked through the historical archives as he did every day, silent, reserved as the librarian nods to him, he takes a seat near a window, a telescope peering outside up to the stars as he pulls a book from his own shelf, his white mane billowed in the breeze of the night air, his red fur standing on end from the unusual cold of the night, he lets out a small breath, his chest falling slowly as he puts an eye to the ocular lens of the telescope. The night sky to him came to life as he watched each star Luna had meticulously placed, he noted how each night they were different and how different placements conveyed even mood to the young unicorn.
As he noted the position of Canis Major, and the proportions of Orion, he saw sadness, desperation, fear. Something was wrong, what could cause such fear to the immortal goddess. Galileo brought his head away from his telescope to write in his book ‘Luna, Scared, Must find out why’ was all he left as he put the book up and ran out of the archives, the sound of each hoof reverberated through the hall as he burst outside towards the castle to find out what was happening.
As he made his way up the steps and past the guards, he trotted up to the throne where the regal goddess of the day sat she looked upon him and smiled a small but kind smile she always bore “Hello my little pony” she said her voice like the dew on the morning grass, gentle and kind. Galileo bowed as he she spoke “Hello, Princess, I was hoping I may speak to Luna” he asked his breath a bit short from running to the castle. The princess shook her head slowly “I’m sorry but my sister …is not feeling well” she said confirming his suspicions as he looked up at her “What has her so scared” he asked bluntly staring at the princess waiting for a reaction as she sat quietly her face lament as she got up and slowly walked over to him “In her room, tell her I said you were okay” she said in his ear as he nodded walking towards the stairs up to the moon princesses room
Luna sat in the middle of her room going through page after page of her sister’s diary, pictures and ancient scrolls littered her walls as she mumbled to herself a hoof on her head, her horn glowing light blue around a few floating scrolls the same magic could be seen, her hooves turned the page she was looking at as she heard a knock on her bedroom door ‘Aww horse nuggets’ she thought as she quickly hid the diary “Just a minute” she called out as she straightened up her room, knowing how much her sister hated messiness.
Galileo waits by the door having heard the moon princesses voice, hearing the rustling of paper before she opens the door “Sorry about thy room sis…” she says seeing Galileo she looks around, “Thou are not thine sister, why has thou disturbed us?” she asks unsure why or who the stallion in front of her was or what he wanted. Galileo bowed as Luna opened the door “I am so sorry princess, but your sister said I was…okay?” he said still bowed as Luna looked down the hallways pulling Galileo into her room and shutting the door “What do you know?” she asked in a hushed tone
He looked at her and shrugged “I saw the way you placed your stars, you’re scared of something, I want to know” he said looking at her as she looked back sighing as she hung her head taking the diary out opening it to a page “Read only this page, nothing else” she says in an authoritative tone as she watches him. Galileo’s eyes look at the page darting to her as well reading “In the early days before our rule there lived a race of creatures known as Sorelians, they possessed many powers, the ability to change size like dragons and use magic without a horn, their most feared trait though was their ability to absorb magical and nonmagical energy and use it for sustenance, Because of this many ponies feared they could absorb lifeforces to, as the tribes came together under truce of war to exterminate those they did not fully understand, only a single child survived, as an outcast and the last of his kind her grew a hatred for ponies the likes of which is still unseen by any of equestria’s foes, his hatred mutated his power and warped his mind, he absorb thing, physical objects, pain, energy. He made himself stronger through this, stronger then Luna and I, he was defeated by three chosen ponies, each gave their life to ensure the rite of imprisonment would chain him beneath the lands” the entry read dated at least two to three thousand years before nightmare moon .He looked up at Princess Luna “What does this mean?” he asked
“The ancient rite is weakening I fear” she says fear in her tone as she looked at the night sky sighing. He levitated the book back over to her “What will happen if it is?” he asks his mind racing with question. Luna grimaced with a face of pure fear something that worried Galileo even more so than before. “What about the elements of harmony?” he asked quickly hoping they could help, twilight had to be strong enough to revitalize the magical rite. Luna sighed and shook her head “No, I’m afraid even the element won’t be enough” she said sadly levitating another old book from her bed “I’m afraid the only thing to possibly allow the rite to continue is the three instruments the original three imbued with their spirits” she explained.
Galileo sighed as he frowned “Could…somepony try and find them?” he asked knowing this might be the chance for him to not only expand his knowledge but even help all of equestria. Luna sighed looking out the open window as a gentle breeze made her mane flutter “Aye, that…would be possible…But dangerous for just one” she says sadness in her tone as she walked over to a pile of tattered scrolls “I have found to descendants of two of the old warriors, you should ask them to aid you in your search” he says as she opens the scroll that while tattered was fairly new showing two pictures of an earth stallion and a pegasai stallion. Galileo took the scroll “So I find these two, then the artifacts, and red the scribe?” he asks to which Luna nods. Galileo smiled as he nodded “Then I’m off, I’ll be back princess” he says
As he rushed out of the castle Luna watched him from her silent perch upon the towers as Celestia walks into the room “Does he know?” She asked her sister as Luna slowly shook her head he mane coiling around her head as she did “Not all my sister” she says her voice grim as she looked at her sister “Is there any other way?” she asked knowing the answer as she walked back to the scrolls and books around her room her sister watching her as she trotted towards her nuzzling her in a sisterly way “I am afraid not dear sister, I’m…afraid not” she says with a twinge of regret as she looked out the window “ Come, Let us eat” she says walking out of the door as Luna with one last look back as she sighed heavily as she trotted after her sister
Galileo walked toward the ticket counter of the train station ordering a ticket for New Pegasus where the Pegasus was said to be DJ’ing as he boarded the train excitedly the whole of equestria may be in danger but he felt needed now he was going to find the ponies to stop the danger but not only that he was going to get to explore and travel around the land he was going to save. He smiled to himself as he pulled out the scroll reading out loud to himself as he often did “Moontune, Profession: DJ, Residence: New Pegasus, Possible new wielder of the Staff of wills, not much is known about him” he smiles as he thinks about what New Pegasus might be like all he had to go on was pictures and movies that all made the place seem both exciting and horrifying place to be. It was said to have to worst crime rates in Equestria but also was the most exciting place to be with all the casinos and hotels it was a tourist sight of all of equestria.
Galileo watched as the land flew past him at breakneck speed smiles at the thought of the adventure laid out before him smiling as he soon fell asleep. In his dream he was above equestria above even the world as he watched it turn slowly the figure of Princess Luna could be seen far off eyes a glow as she began to talk “Be careful on your way young pony, not all friends are what they seem, and even the greatest enemy can be a friend” She says
