Prologue.
She ran as fast as she could. Two guards were hot on her tail and getting closer by the second. She tried to use a teleporting spell, but her magic still wasn’t working. ‘Oh curse it all!’ she thought. She took a quick look behind her and the guards were now dangerously close. She picked up her pace a bit and made a sharp turn into a long hallway. She knocked over random objects in the room to try and slow them down, but to no avail. Finally spotting a window, she took her only way out. She charged towards the big stain glass window and jumped out, shattering glass everywhere. She slammed to the ground and felt blood trickle down her forehead. She groaned in pain, but forced herself up. Upon standing, she hissed in pain. ‘I must have sprained my hoof, but I have to keep running, as long as I can move I’ll be fine.’ So she kept running. Pushing herself all the while. It didn’t take very long for the guards to catch up; especially at the pace she was going now, only this time they had rifles. ‘Great.’ She thought. ‘Just what I need right now.’ She tried to move faster, but on her hoof wasn’t exactly cooperating right now. Soon the guards began to shoot and she did her best to dodge them (or at least hide behind things that would block said bullet). One bullet managed to graze her cheek and she hissed in pain once more, but kept moving. ‘Got to keep going. Can’t stop now. Got to survive!’ The guards continued to shoot and were gaining on her. She quickly looked around for anywhere to hide. Finally she spotted what use to Sugar Cube Corner and she bolted for it. She banged through the boarded up door and directly for the hidden basement her old friend Pinkie pie installed for reasons she couldn’t quite think of at the moment. She shut the door and kept low. The guards burst in a few seconds later. They stomped about and turning the entire place over. She kept quiet, but saw something shine in the corner of her eye, she looked and there was a pistol. ‘Why did Pinkie put a pistol down here… for that matter where did she even GET a pistol? Either way I’m grateful.’ She used what little magic she could to pick it up and jumped out into the kitchen where two guards searched. She shot at them both, and got one guard in the leg, before zooming out into the open once more. She ran past several innocent ponies and hoped that the guards wouldn’t shoot at them. Luckily they didn’t and just ran after her. She took every sharp turn in sight, but she just couldn’t shake them and her hoof was really starting to get to her. She started to stumble a bit. The guards used this to their advantage. They ran up to both sides of her and started to push her back and forth. ‘Gah! Man I just can’t get a break!’ she thought and desperately tried to run straight. She was about to give up and suddenly she felt herself lift off the ground. “What the-!” She looked up and there was the changeling queen herself! “Chrysalis! Man, am I glad to see you!” she declared and Chrysalis only smiled. They continued on, but suddenly the guards began to shoot once more! “Ponyfeathers! I left my gun on the ground!” Chrysalis smirked. “No worries my dear.” The changeling gave a loud whistle and three other changelings came and attacked the guards. “I love you guys!” She exclaimed and Chrysalis only laughed. “And we thank you for that Miss Melody.” Melody laughed as well and they flew on wards. They landed in the waste lands of Equestria and sighed in relief. Melody gave a quick look around, just to make sure no guards found their way here. Satisfied by the security of the place, she marched on. “Why must you always do that? No pony ever comes out this way.” Chrysalis assured, but Melody only shrugged. “When you live in a world like ours, you can never be too careful. Right?” Chrysalis thought about this, but soon agreed. They trotted in silence and, after what seemed like hours, came to a hut. Chrysalis knocked on the door. A little slot slid open and Chrysalis said something in a language Melody didn’t know, but nevertheless the door opened and they walked in. ”How are our other occupants?” Chrysalis asked. The little changeling clicked and hissed. Chrysalis nodded and went to a door in the corner of the room and opened it. “Shall we tell everyone you’re alright? I’m sure they’re all worried.” She said and Melody gave a grunt in agreement before going downstairs. They walked down what seemed like a never ending flight of stairs and Melody groaned. “Geez, with all these stairs you’d think Sombra lived here!” and Chrysalis chuckled. “It’s only precaution miss Melody.” Melody sighed, but didn’t complain after that. They finally reached the bottom and were faced with two old looking doors. “I always get confused by these.” Melody stated. “As it should. If they confuse you then imagine is guards made it this far or Rowolf himself!” Chrysalis replied then opened the door to the left. They entered a dimly lit underground hallway and proceeded. ‘This hallway never ceases to freak me out.’ Melody thought with a shiver. They continued and came to an opening of a cave. Vines and other foliage decorated the walls and ceiling. A water fall flowed and the water lit the cave better than any fire could. Melody trots over to the water and smiled at her reflection. “How does the water light up like this? I forgot the first time you told me.” Chrysalis trotted to Melody’s side and smiled. “It is due to a special type of algae that can only be found underground. It grows in the water and due to a chemical in them; they glow, thus lighting up the water in the process.” Melody’s eyes grew big. “Awesome. I swear it’s just like magic, just the kind of magic not produced by Unicorns.” Chrysalis nodded and the walked away. They made their way to another section of the cave and came to another wooden door. As Melody opened it she said “Hey guys we’re back. I’m ok, but I have news on Ro-“Melody stopped at the sight in front of her. Her friends were all tied up and guards filled the room, guns at the ready. “Why hello Miss Written Melody. So wonderful to see you! What was that you were saying about me?” And just like that Rowolf appeared before them. ‘I’m so dead.’
