One thousand years.
One thousand years encased within my beautiful moon, unable to control my glorious night or even hear myself think.
It was maddening, being alone; but I had learned my lesson.
I was ready to return and repent.
I expected at least one pony to welcome me back with open hooves, but hoped that all would.
What I didn't expect, however, was that nopony would be there to welcome me home after all this time…
Because there was nopony able to do so.

On a spur-of-the-moment decision while writing, I decided to rewrite the plot completely. However, I'm also going to write the original plot. The story will break off into two separate universes (you will be warned of this at the end of the chapter), but to make it simpler to read, the chapters will be posted as so:
