Rainbow's Day Off

Rainbow Dashs day started out like any other day that she’d had; except for today was her day off. She was very excited because she didn’t have a day off for a very long time because she always had a lot of work to do when she worked on the weather patrol because she was the best weather pony they had, and thusly was called in frequently to fix any mistakes or problems that happened to crop up. She was looking forward to her first day off in over two months (She often had to work overtime and on the weekends to help out) and was excitedly flying around Ponyville looking for something to do.

She looks around before finally noticing that everypony is still busy working today; today is Wednesday, and as such is a work day for most ponies. Flying slowly; she realized that she had nobody to hang out with that day. If she could just go check up on her friends, maybe somepony would be able to chill out with her and have fun. Thinking quickly, she decided that she is going to go check on Twilight first since she is already closest to the libary.

She knocked on the door with her hand as she opened the door. “Hey Rainbow Dash! What’s up?” the lavender unicorn pony with purple hair and a small pink stripe asked. “Did you need something?” the purple pony with a 6 star cutie mark inqired. “Aww nah. Jus wanted to know if you wanted to hang out today.” Rainbow Dash said.

“Sorry Rainbow, I can’t today because I have some books to reorganize, so I think you should just go bother Rarity or something.” Twilight said.

“Okay Twilight, sorry for bothering you. Rainbow said having a small frown on her face.

She took off into the air. Maybe I should go check on Rarity next after all Twilight said that Rarity would be a good choice to go too so maybe she might have the day off. She rapidly aproached Rarity’s carousel boutique. Rainbow Dash nocked politely and quietly on the door, letting out a small squek as the door suddenly sprung open with a blue glow around it.

“Hey Rarity, are you cool to hang out today? I’m just super bored and Twilight is being lame again.”

“I wish that I could darling, but unfortunately, I’m afraid that I have quite a bit of work to accomplish whilst I take in more orders indubitably.”

“Ok Rarity. I’ll see you then.”

‘Maybe I should go check on Pinkie next since she’s write across the street,’ Rainbow Dash thought loudly to herself.

She took off towards Sugar Cube Corner, it happened to have a rather large line going out the door as ponies eagerly awaited their delicious confectionary treats. Ponies hoofs waved through the air with bits as they shouted and yelled at the Pink mare behind the counter to hurry up and give them there treats so that they could get on there day. Dash approached the counter and spoke to Pinkie in order to obtain the information which she found most necessary for her ideal enjoyment of the most glorious day before them.

“hey pinkie, do you wanna go do something today? I’m super bored and its my only day off” Dash said sadly. “I would Dashie, but I just can’t today. Sometimes work is more important than play,” Pinkie said sadly.

“Ok Pinkie, I guess I’ll just go check up with Applejack then,” Rainbow Dash said sadly.

“Ok Dash, seeya…” Pinkie said sadly.

Rainbow Dash flew out of the front door through Sugar Cube Corner, flying towards Sweet Apple Acres which is where her orange earth pony friend who was athletic and had a Stetson cowboy hat worked while collecting apples and kicking trees with her strong legs and earth pony resolve. She saw Applejack working out in the field so she decided to go stop by and talk to her.

“Hey Applejack, I need to ask you something, do you think that maybe we could hang out today? It’s my first day off in more than two months and I don’t want to waste it while doing nothing”

Applejack continued to buck some apples for a second before she is replying “Rainbow, ya know ah gots ta work tahday! I gots ta buck all o’ dem apples before ta applebuckin’ season is over. Ah have ta do tree-fourths o’ da field by this weekend y’all!”

“Ok AJ, I guess I’ll just see you later.” Rainbow Dash sighed.

Rainbow Dash had just one last friend that she could visit; her oldest friend since flight school. This friend was Fluttershy, the quiete, yellow Pegasus who didn’t like to talk to people much because she was very shy around those that she didn’t know. She knocked on the door before she opened it, a quite squeak coming from behind the door.

“W-w-w-w-w-w-whos there?” A pink man filled the door way as a yellow eye peeped out from the door.

“Fluts, its me, Rainbow Dash! Do you want to hang out today? It’s my first day off in a long time and stuff and I don’t want to waste it by being bored and spending it alone.”

“Sorry Rainbow, I have animals to take care of… So… Umm… Well… Go away please, and don’t bother me for the rest of the day?” Fluttershy asked quietly while whispering.

Rainbow Dash slowly flapped her way outside with a blank stare on her face. She wasn’t sure why her friends didn’t want to play with her: was it something did she said, or were her friends just starting to not like her anymore? No? It wasn’t that, they were just all busy working, leaving Rainbow with nothing to do.

She didn’t want to practice tricks today because she didn’t want to get hurt or do anything dangerous on her day off, she just wanted to do some pranks and stuff but she didn’t have anybody to prank with so she couldn’t do that. She just sighed and lay down on a cloud, quickly falling asleep without noticing it because she was tired from all the work that she had been doing. She didn’t even notice as the cloud was being moved because she was so tired, sleeping all through the day until the moon came up in the sky.

She woke quickly, realizing that it was in fact night time and that she had wasted her whole day. She sighed as she noticed that her day had been spent looking for her friends to have fun with while she could have just been having fun for herself. She would have to go to work again tomorrow, and probably not have another day off for a long time… She just flew back to her could house… She climbed on the bed… She went to sleep and dreamed of having another day off.

She awoke with a start, realizing that the whole thing had just been a dream. She had been napping on a branch at Sweet Apple Acres the whole time.
