//-------------------------------------------------------// Bachelor Auction -by Starswirls Beard- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// All's Well that Ends Well //-------------------------------------------------------// All's Well that Ends Well High above the streets of Ponyville floated several stray clouds. The weather Pegasi had done an amazing job with the days weather, the breeze prompting many a picnic. For any non casual observer it would be easy to realize an abnormality in the brilliant blue sky. One of those puffy cumulus happened to have a rainbow tail. Rainbow Dash, resident weather captain and all around awesome daredevil happened to be enjoying a nap. As the breeze caressed her wings she sighed in her sleep, smacking her lips and nuzzling the fluffy substance under her head. Dreams of dazzling crowds and blowing away competition went through her mind as she enjoyed the afternoon off. “...nbow...ash...” The crowd cheered her fantastic filly flash. Hundreds of ponies sat on the edge of their seats as the buccaneer blaze rushed past. “Rainb...Da...” The finale. The only pegasus alive that could do a Sonic Rainboom ascended into the blue, becoming a spec to the crowd. Everypony's eyes followed her as she began her descent. The wind in her mane, the adrenaline pumping, she lived for this moment. “RAINBOW DASH!!!” “GYAH!!” Suddenly the cyan pegasus was falling for real, plummeting to the ground as her napping cloud dispersed. Turning her fall into a flip, Rainbow Dash gracefully alighted in front of the source of her distraction, a white mare with a ridiculously large sun hat. “Oh good, your awake! Just the mare I wanted to see. How are doing today darling?” Rarity smiled. “I was fine until you woke me up, I was having an awesome dream! What's up anyway?” “I wanted to ask you something very important.” She floated a ticket from under her hat and held it so the other mare could read its content. You are cordially invited to the annual Wonderbolts Charity Dinner and Bachelor Auction on the 22nd at the Canterlot Royal Ballroom, Court of the two Sisters. Black tie required, all proceeds benefit Friends of Foals charity. “Dinner with the Wonderbolts?! Where did you get this? Ohmygosh ohmygosh ohmygosh!” “I thought you may feel that way. I never properly thanked you for saving my life during that competition, so I hope that this will in some way make it up to you. That is if you don't mind having to accompany me as a guest.” “If the Wonderbolts are there, I'm there Rares. Even if I have to dress up and stuff, I can still impress 'em with my awesome moves! Count me in. But uh, what's a bachelor auction?” “It's a fantastic event darling! The available members of the team will be on auction and the highest bidder gets a date. According to Fancypants' letter its sure to be an amazing time. As soon as I saw it I just knew it would be something I'd regret not asking you to.” “I could win a date with Spitfire?! Rares this is the coolest most radical thing you could do for me! I'd give my life savings for a chance with her!” Rarity smiled. She was well aware that her rainbow maned friend was completely serious. Luckily her extravagant home was paid for. “I thought you might feel that way. I already have the perfect dress in mind for the event darling, it's going to be wonderful! We only have a few days time to prepare but leave everything to me. That mare will be eating out of your hooves the whole night.” “I am so there. Seeya then, gotta Dash!” With that she took off into the sky, quickly becoming a speck against the horizon. Rarity would have been impressed if her hat hadn't blown away in the back draft. The carriage slowed to a stop in front of the doors to Canterlot castle. The spires cut an impressive figure against the backdrop of the night sky, Princess Luna's heavenly creation casting a soft light about the palace. The two mares couldn't help but stare at the beauty before them as the coachpony came around to open the door. It was like stepping into a dream. Rarity had decided that a slightly different look was in order. Her mane was done up in the tiered style of Manehattan and she had chosen a simple look for the evening. Less was more this season so she decided on a variation of her gala dress, done in black. Rainbow Dash had done a double take when she entered the carriage. Rarity had always looked beautiful but tonight she looked stunning. Two tendrils of mane framed her face, highlighting her eyes. Rainbow Dash was the complete opposite. Her dress was an explosion of color, celebrating her mane and tail with complementary stripes. Her mane was done in a braid with each color visible, highlighting her magenta eyes and bringing them to the forefront. Rarity felt her breath catch as her larger than life friend entered the coach, chatting excitedly about the types of plans she had for her date with Spitfire. There was something about the way the cyan mare spoke that resonated with the fashionista. The same way that Dash knew she would become a Wonderbolt was the same conviction with which Rarity herself knew she would be the biggest name in fashion. The ride from the hotel was something the white unicorn was sure to never forget. “I'm totally gonna bang Spitfire!” “E-excuse me?!” “Yeah, after I win my date and impress her with my awesome moves, we're totally gonna bang. Its gonna be so awesome!” “What makes you think that I would want to hear about your lascivious exploits?” “C'mon Rare, your a hot blooded mare. I'm sure you at least think about banging sometimes. How could you not? I mean, isn't Fancypants the type of stallion you usually can't shut up about? You must have imagined how he'd be in the sack.” “A lady does not speculate how one will be 'in the sack' as you so crudely put it. A lady has dalliances, trysts, or even a rendezvous. A candle lit tête-à-tête is more my speed.” “Thinking like that has you on only one speed and that's pause. 'Sides, there's only like five stallions in Ponyville anyway and Mr. Cake and Mr. Breezy are both married. I'll bet you've never even done it before.” Rarity scoffed at the accusation. “If you must know I have, and I prefer to keep my private business private so that's all I'll say about it.” “Yeah, whatever. We're still young, y'know? I'm not trying to get held down or anything just yet, so I enjoy it while I can. Not everything has to perfect 'cause stuff rarely is, but if its enjoyable you get a good memory and an idea of what to do better next time.” That gave the white unicorn pause. “That is a very wise view of things Rainbow.” “I come up with good stuff from time to time. So....anypony I know?” “Seriously?” “Look, we're gonna be riding there for a while and we like never talk about this kinda stuff. Can you imagine asking Twilight or Fluttershy about something like this?” “Fair point. Fine, it is somepony that you know.” “Thunderlane?” “No.” “Big Mac?” “No.” “Dr. Whooves?” “What? No. He's too weird for my tastes.” “The ER doctor that always bandages me up at the hospital whose name I can never remember?” “This is getting ridiculous. If I tell you will you stop badgering me about it?” “Sure, I just really wanna know this.” “I will tell you but if it leaves this coach I will deny it. You can't say anything to her about this either. Promise me.” “You've been with a mare and I know her, no way! Oh this is gonna be good. Fine, I promise now hurry up and tell me. You don't need a Pinkie Promise from the element of loyalty or anything, do you?” “Don't be facetious Rainbow. It was Fluttershy. She was helping me sort out some feelings I had for somepony else and well one thing lead to another.” “Fluttershy, no way. She can't even say mating without blushing and stuttering, how did you manage to get her in the sack? And don't you like stallions anyway?” “I did not 'get her in the sack' like some sort of brute. I like to think of myself as more worldly, and I happen to like both just fine. It's just that I always imagined that the pony I married would probably be male. We'd both had a bit of wine and chocolate while we talked and it sort of just happened.” “Well whoever it was that didn't like you is crazy, cause your totally hot Rares.” “That's sweet of you Rainbow...” If only I could tell you it was you. “Well, my first time was with Derpy. She may be a featherbrain sometimes but she has an ass that just won't quit.” Rarity suppressed a small shudder at the thought of Rainbow being intimate with someone that wasn't her. No matter how hard she tried she just couldn't get the words out. What proper way was there to tell someone who had saved her life that she was in love with them? Her indecision was dispelled as the coach rocked to a stop, allowing the driver to open the door. The two made their way into the ballroom, taking in their surroundings. Each mare was given a number to place on her dress for the auction as they passed through the massive double doors. Tables lined one side of the room for seating and the other was partitioned off for the stage where the auction would take place. As the duo made their way to the seating area they were stopped by Fancypants himself, wishing for them to join him at the head table. Rainbow could feel the boredom sinking in as the two unicorns began talk of fashion, but what really caught her eye was the fact that she was seated right behind her idols. The dinner began with little fanfare, and Rarity couldn't help but run their previous conversation through her mind. She floated her wine to her lips and took a sip to hide her glance at the cyan pegasus across from her. She had done a wonderful job with the dress, hair, and makeup but it was the speedsters passion that made her light up like the sun. The same things that drove Rarity to create and beautify the world around her was the same thing that drove Rainbow to fly like the wind itself. It was that passion that had first attracted the unicorn to her, but breaking the sound barrier just to save her life, after she had been such a foal, made her feelings come in full force. The pegasus was surprisingly deep in conversation with Rarity's most generous benefactor about her training regimen and the sparkle in her eyes sent the other mares heart beating faster. She knew that if she let the captain of the most elite team of fliers get a chance with Rainbow she would never be able to tell her how she felt. Not that it was a good idea anyway, she rationalized. Rainbow Danger Dash, best young flier in Equestria would be ground bound for nopony, let alone an uppity unicorn fashion designer. She was everything Rainbow was not and did not care for. How could she compete with the other mares idol? As she struggled she barely noticed dinner coming to an end or the fact that she had hardly touched her food to begin with. “Ladies and gentlecolts, we will now be starting the bachelor auction portion of the evening! Will the available members of the Wonderbolts please make their way to the stage?” Rainbow moved to sit next to Rarity, looping her foreleg with the other mares. “Ohmygosh there she is Rare! I can't wait to win my date, this is gonna be so awesome!” “Yes, I can just imagine your excitement.” her small frown was hidden by the announcer taking everyone's attention. “The first team member up for auction tonight is Soarin'! This fine stallion has been a member of the team for five years and is second in command. He also enjoys playing chess, classical music, and baking. We'll start the bidding at twenty five hundred bits!” Rainbow positively beamed as she watched the crowds reaction. So many legs went up for the initial bid and it all went downhill from there. By the time there were only two contenders left the bidding was up to more that she made in a year, between a stallion and mare no less. Poor Soarin' didn't even look fazed by the way the two were going back and forth. If this was what she had to look forward to she had to be sure to stick with it. Rarity watched as the two high bidders battled it out for their chance. Her thoughts were consumed by the cyan mares previous words and she couldn't bring herself to focus. She hardly noticed that three other members of the team had gone by as she struggled with her feelings for her friend. She wanted nothing more than to pull her to the side and confess but she couldn't ruin her night like that. Not when she was so excited for even a chance to be graced with Spitfires presence. It should be me that she's dying to get a chance with. After all, she was graceful, witty, and incredibly intelligent. She just couldn't fly. Was that really so bad? Finally Spitfire made her way to center stage. It was finally time for Rainbow to win her chance. The bidding started at twenty five hundred and climbed steadily. The cyan pegasus was on the edge of her seat constantly throwing out new bids as soon as they came up. Slowly but surely other contenders slipped away as the bids grew in number, some of Canterlots most elite even dropping out. Jet Set tried his hardest but once things got into the forty thousand range it became too much. Finally it came down to two. Rainbow was growing increasingly flustered the higher the numbers climbed but she was determined. She would have her date with Spitfire if it killed her. More than likely she'd have to sell her cloud house and move in with one of her friends at the rate things were going. Her competition was an immaculately groomed stallion with a dark brown coat and light blonde mane. His green eyes twitched as he held up his foreleg to raise the bid to fifty thousand bits. “A new bidding record! This is the highest anypony has ever bid at this auction ladies and gents. Do I hear fifty-five?” Rainbows ears drooped and the stallion grinned. He knew he had her. Rarity couldn't stand to see her friend with such a dejected look. “C'mon Rares lets go, there's no way I can match that. I'll be homeless if I keep this up, there's no way she'll be in to me now.” She looked ready to cry. “Fifty going once...” Rarity couldn't let this happen to Rainbow. She owed her for saving her life. “Fifty going twice....” Rainbows eyes locked with the floor as she was about to see her one chance to be casual with her idol slip through her hooves. “FIFTY FIVE THOUSAND BITS!” The entire crowd was on edge from the heated bidding before, and now a new challenger had appeared. Multiple sets of eyes turned to Rarity as she jumped from her seat with a foreleg raised. Rainbow Dash's jaw dropped as she looked at her friend. “Fifty five thousand bits, a new bid record! Do I hear sixty thousand?” The room became deathly still. The chocolate colored stallion shook his head and shrugged, acknowledging his defeat. “Fifty five going once....” “You don't have to do this Rarity, I can't have you spending this kinda money!” “I can and will so don't worry about it darling. Besides, you saved my life its the very least I could do to pay you back.” “Fifty five going twice...” “Besides Rainbow, you deserve a bit of happiness.” Even if its not with me. “Sold to the lovely mare in back!” Cheers erupted as the auction closed with the highest bid to date. None was louder than the rainbow maned pegasus beside the fashionista however. It was a good thing Rainbow was cheering her good fortune so loudly, it covered the sound of Rarity's heart breaking. Sitting on the bed in the suite the two mares shared Rarity finished removing the last of her makeup and preparing herself for bed. After she won Rainbows prize she hadn't the heart to stick around any longer than necessary as her friend made her way to the stage. The look of pure joy on her face as she realized exactly what had been done for her... The white unicorn turned down the comforter with her magic. Better to get some well deserved beauty sleep before the train ride home in the morning. As she was about to get under the cover the door to the suite opened revealing a slightly disheveled Rainbow Dash. Sweet Celestia I can't handle it if she wants to talk about that mare. “Hey Rares, you awake?” she whispered. “Yes I am. I have to say I didn't expect you back quite so early. How did it go?” Rainbow shrugged out of her dress and sat down on the bed. “It was awesome! We went for a flight, and to Donut Joe's, and we even hung out at the training compound for a while. She is so cool I could hardly believe it! You really came through for me, and I just wanted to say thanks. Don't worry though, I'm gonna give you the money I originally bid since it was my date and all.” “That's quite considerate of you Rainbow. Did you two 'bang' as you so eloquently put it?” “Nah, we didn't. I totally wanted to and all and she would have been down for it but the Wonderbolt training camp is coming up soon. Since I have a better chance than most of getting in she thought it'd be awkward since she'd be giving orders and stuff.” “Oh, well, I'm sorry to hear that it didn't turn out as you'd planned.” “Don't be, I still had an awesome time with her. You really are a great friend.” “But I don't want to be...” “What the hay does that mean?” For the first time since she entered the room Rainbow looked at Rarity. Her mane was down for once, framing her face. The moonlight streaming from the window served to show the fact that she wasn't wearing any makeup, making her look younger and more vulnerable. What she had missed before however were the tracks of tears pouring down alabaster cheeks. “Oh come now Rainbow, is it surely so difficult to understand? Spitfire is everything you could want in a mare. She's strong, an amazing flier, and with her striking mane and tail extremely beautiful. I'm just a no one from Ponyville with grandoise dreams. I can't even fly...” Rainbow was stunned. This was different than her friends usual dramatic ramblings. This was deep. “Rares, what are you saying exactly? You like me or something?” “You can't be that blind Rainbow. You saved my life when you didn't have to. Especially after the way I acted. Then, you spent time with me modeling designs when Fluttershy was sick even though you hate it. Your passionate about becoming a Wonderbolt the same way I am passionate about fashion. You should understand what its like better than anyone. Opening a boutique in a little no name place such as Ponyville and branching out is one of the hardest things I've ever done and you understand because you train as hard as I do. Its no wonder I fell for you. My night with Fluttershy was only because I couldn't stand not having you any longer and broke down to her. I couldn't stand seeing you not get what you wanted so of course I put up the bits for your date. Generosity is as much a burden as it is a gift.” Rainbow Dash was floored. In her mind she could see all of the indicators that Rarity was speaking of. How could she have been so blind and ignore all the signs? The fittings, the teas, the ticket to the Wonderbolt dinner. It all fit. Here was a mare who was pouring her heart into her actions and there she was just as oblivious as ever. Before she could even manage a reply she was stopped again. “Then there's the most obvious point. I can't fly. I could never expect you to stay grounded for the likes of me anyway.” she turned her head so that her friend wouldn't have to see the renewed tracks of tears run down her face. Dash was bad with words. So she did the only thing she could think of that made sense. She leaned forward and kissed her. Rarity's eyes shot open in surprise, and she pulled away. “I do not need your pity Rainbow Dash. You got what you wanted and I'm just explaining why you had to see me in this sorry state. Let us never speak of this again.” The white mare turned away and lay her head on her pillow. She expected to feel the other mares weight lift as she returned to her own bed but was surprised to find a hoof on her shoulder. “C'mon Rarity, don't be like that. Yeah, I messed up not noticing your feelings before but do you really think I'd be the type to pity kiss somepony? Especially one of my best friends who not only cares about me, but cares enough to dump a small fortune on one date because it would make me happy? That's love if I've ever heard it, and I'd be an even bigger idiot than normal to ignore it.” That gave Rarity pause. It was hard to believe any of what Rainbow was saying. She had dreamed of how this moment would go for so long that she couldn't handle that it was actually happening. Turning around she gazed into magenta eyes, trying her best to spot any hint of a lie or pity. “Do you mean it?” Rainbow just kissed her again. This time Rarity gave in to the feeling and threw her forelegs around the other mare. She had longed to run her hooves through the messy mane and did, feeling its unbelievable softness. Rainbow pushed her back onto the bed and continued the passionate kiss, running her hooves over the velvety white coat hairs. There was something to be said for the weekly spa treatments the unicorn went through, she felt amazing as their bodies pressed together. Breaking the kiss to come up for air the two stared into each others eyes, seeing the fire there. Rainbow reached up and nibbled on the outer shell of Rarity's right ear. She moaned in pleasure, and the pegasus felt the shudder. Grinning to herself she flicked her tongue over the fluted column of horn and was rewarded with a cry. “Don't stop doing that!” Never one to keep a lady waiting she ran her tongue from base to tip and back, earning another shudder and gasp. The unicorn couldn't reach much with the athletic pegasus above her so she touched the first thing she came in contact with, beautiful blue wings. Rainbow jerked in surprised pleasure. There was nothing more sensitive than her primary feathers and she almost couldn't believe how good it felt. She had to return the favor. Straddling the white mare for better access she closed her mouth around the horn and sucked. Rarity bucked against her as she felt her nethers flush. The sensation was unlike any she had ever felt before. She continued running her hooves through the softness of the other mares feathers, massaging right at the base where wing met her supple lithe body. Rainbow bucked down into Rarity as her hooves dug in just the right spot. The cyan mare swirled her tongue along the horns ridges, gently nibbling the tip with her teeth. She had to tighten her thighs as Rarity flailed underneath her. This is so bucking awesome! Both mares gyrations reached a fever pitch as the pegasus ground their sexes together. Their clits rubbed each other furiously sending little jolts of electric pleasure down both spines. Finally, Rarity could take it no more. The other mare cried out against her as she came, shuddering against the other mares muscled form. Rainbow was right behind her as she drank in the other mares pleasured screams. She threw her head back and let out her own yell, collapsing and enjoying the embrace as Rarity held her through her climax. After a few moments she rolled off and continued to embrace the white mare. Placing light kisses on her brow she smiled her usual cocky grin. “That was beyond awesome Rares! I'm so happy your my mare.” Rarity smiled as well and placed a kiss on her nose. “For fifty-five thousand bits, it was worth every cent.” Author's Note This is my holiday gift to Equ-us (https://www.fimfiction.net/user/Equ-us), and if you've never read any of his stories I highly suggest it! He's an amazing author and I hope that he enjoys this so go follow his page. I've never written Rainbow Dash before so this was very fun, I hope I did a decent job at not butchering her character. :)
