A Fallout Equestria oneshot by Eissen.
I sighed to myself as the Elevator went up. I fidgeted around, thinking to myself,’ Am I going to be able to pull this off?’ I looked back at my clothing, a simple light brown duster, which contrasted with my bright orange coat and cyan tail, the tail having lighter strips run through it, same with my mane, but back to the barding, it had holsters added onto it, part of my modifications to it. The holsters on the back held my Caravan shotgun, something I always kept close. A holster on my side held my old Ten Millimeter pistol, something I found when I first left home. I stared at my barding for a minute, thinking of what it hid. I was a blank-flank. It was embarrassing…..it was also dangerous…..I’ve been drove from town just because I had no cutie mark……as a full grown pony. You know….maybe I would get my cutie mark from this….No, bad Eissen; you don’t think of things like that, you’re here for a reason. I then looked down at my foreleg, staring at my Pip-Buck, the only thing reminding me of my home, well…besides my flank. I’m grateful though to have it, saved my flank on numerous occasions. I gasped in pain at a little prick at my horn, guess I wasn’t paying attention, and started to scratch my head with my machete. Cursed habit. I slid the blade into a leather strap on the opposite side of my pistol, looking up at the number display, some of the lights didn’t work but still showed me where I was and it showed I was almost to Horse’s suite. Maybe I could change things……but first, I’d have to fight his personal guard. Which consisted of Robots.
And I hate robots.
The elevator dinged, and the door opened. I stepped out, ignoring the friendly securitron who greeted me every time I came up here. I had a plan, and I was gonna go through with it. If it didn’t get me killed that is. I trotted down the stairs, heading passing the giant monitor, Horse’s imaging flickering to life, his voice booming. “What are you doing here, have you gotten my chip?” I ignored him, heading toward the terminal on the wall, floating out the Lucky 38 maintenance pass. I’m pretty sure he spotted it, because a bullet hole appeared in the wall not too far from my head.
“Back away from the terminal Courier, and I won’t kill you. Just go back to finding my chip.” I could hear anger in his voice and….a touch of worry? Maybe my mind was messing with me. I turned, facing the monitor, “I can’t do that Mr. Horse. I’m sorry,” as I said this, I pulled out my pistol, firing at the Securitron that shot at me, shattering its screen with one shot, the machine collapsing. But with that shot, I pulled every damn one in the suite down on to me, “Stop him! He must not be allowed to do what he is planning!” I took a shot at the nearest Securitron, it being too close for comfort, but my bullet didn't do much as it bounced off its reinforced metal plating.
Have I mentioned that I hate robots?
I rolled out of the way as said robot I shot at shot at me. I barely managed to pull out my shotgun, blasting it with the buckshot I have loaded, it didn’t seem to do much, but it collapsed, twitched and flailing. Must’ve hit something important. But, I forgot about the others, and was reminded with a bullet to my shoulder. I bit back a scream, turning my head toward them. I holstered my pistol, I wouldn’t need it. I jumped into SATS, and targeted three of them. The spell took control, and I fired at the first one, hitting it square in the screen and parts of its front panels, but only succeeding in phasing it. Then spell reloaded my weapon, and took fire again, I hit another one, but it did little to it. The third shot, connected with its target, and it just stopped dead in its tracks, falling over. But not before it gave me a blessing. When it fell, it was about to fire a rocket, turned out, it still did. A huge explosion happened near the front of the group, throwing some securitrons back against the walls, tearing some in half, but, for the most part, took most of them with it.
But not all.
I turned toward the terminal when another bullet hit me. Square in the flank. I screamed, more in shock then in pain, and turning around, aiming my shotgun at the robot that shot me. But turns out, it wasn’t just a robot. It was the one who saved me. Who dug me out. “Ugh….not you too. Why are you attacking me? I thought you liked me?” I asked it, my shotgun trained on it just incased. The image on his monitor flickered, showing an angry expression of a pony in a cowboy hat. “Sorry partner, but I’m with the boss. I have to stop you, so, Happy Trails partner,” I noticed one hand was already a gun, but I saw his other starting to move, something big, pointy, and striped poking out of it.
Did I also mention I hate rockets?
He aimed it straight at me, and fired, I managed to roll out of the way, barely though. I felt the wind of it as it passed right by my ear. I winced at the following explosion. I felt something jab at my side, and I looked up, seeing the monitor, and Horse’s face. Always stuck in that one expression. That one smug look. I turned to look at the robot, and saw him taking aim. I tried to jump into SATS, but it was unavailable. ‘Stupid recharge!’ I mentally yelled at it as I took aim with my shotgun. I pulled the trigger, and I hit my target, but it didn’t stop it. I pulled the trigger again, and all I got was a click.
And another wound.
He shot me up near my left shoulder, but still in the leg. I scream with pain. It hurt…..bad. I buckled under my wound, unable to put weight on it, I looked at the robot, slowly approaching me, “I’m sorry partner, but it looks like I’m going to have to bury you again,” I know it didn’t mean the remorse it had tried to put into his voice. And I’ll be damned if I die here. So, I used the one weapon I thought could hurt it. I floated out my machete, thrusting it at the one weak spot on these damned machines.
Its screen.
It stopped dead in its tracks?...Tires?.. I dunno, but it stopped. Well, not stop, it kinda twitched on the blade as electricity crackled on the blade. I pulled it out, shaking it free of wires that decided to go for a free ride, and slide it into the assigned strap. I stared at the robot and sighed. The one thing that gave me another chance…that saved me, I had just killed. But…on the bright side, it was just a machine, it couldn’t feel. It just shuts down. I winced as I tried to stand, the wound in my leg screaming at me. Hopefully I had one……aha! I dug out a healing potion, and downed it, slowly the pain went away, and leaving a dull ache and another scar to the others I have.
I instinctively brought a hoof to me chest, hearing mechanical bonesaws.
I shook my head, no time to dwell on what happened….back there. I turned, and blinked at what I saw. A hole in the wall from the rocket. Right beside the terminal. I trotted toward it, Mr. Horse still staying quiet, his image still on that screen. I looked inside the hole, seeing another room, but no securitrons.
But another elevator.
I groaned. Not another one! I hate them! But then I remembered. Maybe he could be there. I trotted toward it, and saw another terminal. I accessed it with the maintenance pass, and the doors opened. I shuddered as I stepped inside, feeling scared. These things are deathtraps I tell you!
I hit the button and the elevator jerked….toward what seemed down.
I looked around with worry, sure that it was gonna fall fast and take me to my doom.
After about five minutes of me sitting there, eyes clenched shut and shaking, the elevator jerked, and stopped. I slowly opened one eye, and reached a shaky hoof out to open the doors. They open slowly. What greeted me was nothing to surprising. Pipes, catwalks, supports. But, in the middle of all that, across from me, was a machine that I have never seened before. It….seemed to be a capsule. I trotted up to it, ignoring the creaking of the catwalk I was on.
I stopped by a terminal connected to what looked like a mainframe.
I stepped to it, finding it letting me access it easily surprising. It gave me only two options. Exit the terminal, or open the capsule. I sat there, looking between the computer and the capsule, curious of its contents. But then, a thought hit me.
Where the hell is Horse?
I read the terminal, seeing what the capsule was. What I found out shocked me. The capsule held Horse. I turned to look at it, seeing inside it, a shriveled….I don’t know, but it looked like a pony, and it was moving. I sat there for a few minutes, in shock, thinking? I don’t know. But all I do know is that I went back to the terminal, and decided to open the capsule.
It opened with a loud hiss and something vapor-ish coming out of the capsule. With a whir and a hiss, something inside the capsule started moving. The platform holding the pony thing started to rise, then it turned, facing towards me, extending out, holding the pony-withered-thing out towards me. I slowly walked up to it, seeing it to actually be alive. It had a lot of wires in and out of it and was probably bound to the machine.
Then it talked to me.
It rasped at me, sounding in pain. “You fool, you’ve undone everything, years, centuries of hard work, all in vain.” I stared at him, a little confused, “Uh…..who are you? What is……this?” I gestured at the capsule. He seemed to take in a breath he couldn’t hold and started to speak again, “I am….Edwin….Horse, founder, owner, and…..CEO of Robronco…..The head of…..this city….but, it doesn’t matter……its all in vain…..all that hard work…..to make things as they were……in vain……”
I sighed to myself, shaking my head, seeing Horse for what he is.
A pre-war monster…..but worst, he couldn’t move on from his old life.
I started to chuckle, shaking my head. “What….why are you laughing…..” I stopped chuckling, looking at him in…..whatever eyes he had. “Mr. Horse, you’re a monster, but I gotta give it to ya, ya look the part.” He….sounded shocked, maybe….a touched…..scared. “A monster?....how am I a monster….I’ve worked hard to make Pegas what it is……….a escape……a sign of things that could be……..I shelter ponies….how am I a monster?” I shocked my head softly, feeling pity for him. “You wanna know why? You cling to times long past, you want times to go back like they were, before the megaspells and balefire. But……hate to break it to ya, but that isn’t gonna happen. It’s called change Mr. Horse, the world demands it, we demand it, you demand it. But some conflict with others and one gets snuffed out, not to get to change things. You wanna know the one that usually gets snuffed out? The change for the bad, selfish, and disillusioned….and you, Mr. Horse, fall under disillusioned, dreaming of making a place of times long past. So, how bout we get this done. I’ll put ya back in that…..coffin of yours, and I’ll go my merry way.” If he could even flex his face correctly, I bet he’d have a look of pure anger on it. I pulled out my ten millimeter as he talked, making sure it was loaded. “You fool! You already killed me….I’ve been diseased by…..the filth of you and this wasteland….I’ll be dead in a month…and you know what dies with me? Pegas…..the Moojave, this entire part of the wastes….it dies with me, and it’s all because of you, Courier.” I saw my pistol was loaded, and I shook my head softly again, looking straight at him.
“Please, if we’re going to be killing one of us, let’s be civil before one of dies. So please, call me Eissen.”
Mr. Horses spoke again, “Fine….Eissen, why…..are you doing this….I had a…..bounty hunter after that chip….he was staying here…..how did you find it…how did you know?” I chuckled, “How did I know? Mr. Horse, I’m a regular here, I see everything. So, it isn’t surprising I over hear something about you, this High roller type pony who had it, and that bounty hunter after it. So, I tracked down this pony….Benny was his name. I followed him into his suite in the casino nearby. The Tops. I killed him and took the chip; I’m surprised you actually let me in here. Your robots did nothing to stop me entering the casino, maybe it was the chip? Maybe not, but anyway, I’m here….just let me ask you, why’d you call me “courier?” He let out something along the lines of a sigh. “I called you that…because I hired a courier to deliver items, one of them was the chip…..that you hold……you….look like the pony that was hired to deliver the chip……I…..was mistaken…..” I chuckled at that, who knew I was so lucky to actually get in due to being a lookalike. “Well Mr. Horse, this was a nice chat, and I’m sorry that you didn’t die when Equestria went boom,” I floated my ten millimeter, my familiar light blue glow surrounding it, sighting it on him, “but it’s time for a little change around here. Say hello to Luna for me, will ya.” The sound he let out seemed to be a scream of rage or…horror, I couldn’t tell. But the next sounds to fill the empty chamber under the Lucky 38,
Was a click, bang, and a ding.
It was done. He was dead. The most influential pony in Pegas was dead, by my hoof. I sighed, holstering the pistol, turning. Then I remembered. I had to ride the elevator again…..I shuddered. Then I chuckled again, look at me, I just killed another pony, a known pony, and I’m more worried about riding the elevator again. Well, let’s get this over with. I trotted into the elevator, hitting the up button, and closing my eyes tight, waiting for it to be over again. Five minutes later, almost uh……peeing myself, the doors opened, and I hurried out of the elevator, only to run into something weird.
A robot, but it looked perfectly like a pony. Well…almost.
It was a mare, that was obvious, but who, I don’t know. She was brilliant white, her mane a mix of purple and lilac-ish color. She had emerald green eyes and a soft, friendly smile. When she spoke, her voice was soft, but had the robotic echo behind it, a dead giveaway of a robot. “Hello, I’m Sweetie Bot, and my minds telling me master is dead, and you came up from his office, is that true, is Master dead?” She looked at me with curious, sad eyes….I couldn’t lie to that look…. “Uh….yea…..he’s dead……he….had a complication…..it opened his capsule…..he…wanted me to kill him, not to let him die of sickness…..I’m sorry……Sweetie was it?” She nodded, “I’m sorry then Sweetie, but yes, he is dead.” She seemed to be ready to cry…well, if robots could cry. “I was afraid of that……well….since….you killed Master, guess you’re my new Master!” She smiled happily at me, taking me by surprise, “I uh……what?” She continued smiling at me, seemingly very happy that she had a new master again. “You killed master, so by right, I’m yours. So, where do you want me to go Master? Stay here, come with you? I really wanna come with you!” She seemed to have her horn sparked a moment. I also noticed that she didn’t have a cutie mark, although she….seemed to be based on a fully grown pony….that was weird. I sighed, speaking to her, “Fine, you can come with me, alright? Just….stop being so……..high pitched.” She smiled, but didn’t say anything else. I turned and headed to the other elevator, heading down to the ground floor with Sweetie Bot beside me….still smiling…..that’s gonna need to get some getting used to….then elevator jerked, making me jump slightly, and the doors opened. My two other friends were waiting for me. One was a griffon, the other, a Pegasus. The griffon spoke up, “Uh Eissen, who’s the other pony?” I looked at Jade, explaining to her what had happened up there, leaving out the details of me killing Horse…..somewhat. “And then she said I was her master….and she wanted to come, so why not.” I looked over at my Pegasus friend, Blue Prints; she was a dark blue, mane and tail a mix of an even darker blue and purple, her light purple winged gear cutie mark contrast against her coat. She seemed excited. “That pony is a robot?! Really?! Wow……I must find out how she works….EISSEN! LET ME SEE HER SOON! I wanna take her apart.” She giggled darkly, making me worry a little. “Uh Blue…..no, ok? Let’s leave the Robo-pony alone, ok?” She let out an “awww” and slumped a little, but she understood I looked over at Jade, a…unique griffon. Not like the talons, she was a trader, still is. She is….a little on the small side, being only a little bigger than your average colt. She also…has a unique color to her, where most griffons have grey or black fur and feathers, she was a emerald green. All the stands out is her bright white fur on her head, green dapped around her eyes and the end of her feathers on her head. She also had a pair of goggles on her neck, the reason she has yet to reveal to me. “So Jade, find anything useful here?” She shook her head. “Nah, this place is dry for supplies. But if we got into the Silver Rush…..cha, right. That ain’t happening.” I chuckled at her antics, always wanted to get good supplies, either to save her tail feathers or make a quick cap, still honest though. I trusted her, same with Blue. Even though Blue….she was overly curious about the surface….guess Enclave life did that to ya. Oh, I didn’t mention Blue was Ex-Enclave? Yea, but she wasn’t branded….her science team was killed in an attack, and she wanted the data to herself after the attack…guess she broke kinda….killed her own kind to keep her research data. She’s…..weird that way.
I sighed, trotting toward the exit, motioning for the rest to follow.
We exited the Town of New Pegas. The surrounding slums and communities. Into the wastes, following the road. As a courier, I travel…I enjoy it….it’s a escape….from the wastes. Keep traveling, stay ahead….
The road was my life. That means…I’ve been around. Seen towns….I’ve seen Hoofington change, Canterlot Wastes Change…..This place, Moojave, hell, it’s starting to change…..
The cards are set, something big is gonna happen, I don’t know where, I don’t know when, but something is gonna happen.
I remember a quote from a pony who helped me escape my home….took my under his hoof. Let me tell you it.
“War, war never changes, but ponies do, through the roads they walk, through the actions they do, through the experiences that happens to them. Eissen, let me tell you, things are going to change one day, for better or for worst. You may not be a big part of it, but we all are. Every action we do, every pony will kill. Ever injury we take, it’s all going to change. Just hope, one day, a big change will take place, that it will change Equestria for the better….but…it may be for the worst…..because Eissen, change happens. It can’t be stop, stalled, or detoured. It takes place, no matter what. So Eissen remember,”
“We must change, ponies must change. Because without change, there can’t be hope for better tomorrow,”
“A better Future.”
“A better Equestria.”
“A better world.”
Change….is everywhere.
My name is Eissen Lulamoon Dargwell, a Courier, and I deliver messages.
And this message is for all.
A time for change is upon us.
And I….
I am its witness.

“If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight!”
“So you’re telling me, you didn’t grab anything from up there, a place that hasn’t been touched for nearly who knows how long? Are you an idiot or something Orange Boy?” My green colored griffon trader of a friend was currently letting me have it on the importance of pre-war junk and the trading system of the wastes. I sighed softly, knowing this wouldn’t end anytime soon. “Jade, tell me, it was junk. Nothing but useless trinkets and books. Hell, the only things of value were those damned robots and I scraped them. I mean seriously……who would want a book other then ponies from Stables? I mean…..when do you even know a pony is from a stable unless they were their jumpsuit….I mean, seriously Jade….seriously.” She glared at me, making me almost freeze up in fear right then in there, “Useless? Useless!? Everything has value Eissen, everything! Hell, even shell casing’s have value to certain ponies! Hell,” She picked up a rock, holding it out infront of me, “this rock has value to certain ponies! Think for once ya orange dolt, and get your mind outta other colt’s plots.” I blush brightly.” H-hey! I do not have my mind in anypony’s ass! You hear me! I am not a big pervert looking for any type of plot to plow! Plus, it ain’t my fault I don’t like mares……” she chuckled, apparently finding my embarrassment amusing. “Then whose fault is it?” She looked at me smugly. “Well I um……don’t know….I just don’t like mares….I never have. Big old meany feather butt…..hmph.” She rubbed my head, messing with my mane. “Oh cheer up Orange, atleast ya like what ya like,” she looked up into the sky, it was night, but no star’s shown. I looked up with her, hoping one day I could see the stars. That would be nice, “so, Orange, where we headed next, and please let it be senseable and it doesn’t end us up with a robo-pony that featherbrain over there has an orgasm about.” She pointed at Blue, who slept with her Pip-Buck curled up with. Sometimes, I don’t get her. “Yeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaa, good point. So, this is why I’m asking you. You know of any good places?” I looked up at her, hoping that she did.
She tapped her chin with a claw, deep in thought.
“How ‘bout this factory I heard about while searching for some scrap back up north, seemingly untouched be scavangers. So how ‘bout it?” Jade looked….excited for my awnser. “Uh….sure? I guess? Better than sitting here wasting time.” I could’ve sworn she fluttered off the ground for a second. “Yay! Ok, we’ll just need to get ready in the morning, shouldn’t be more then a weeks walk from here, if we keep going through each day with no detours!” I looked at her like she was crazy. “Whoa Jade, calm down. We’ll go there, just…..calm your feathers.” She glared at me. “Calm my feathers? Hmph.” She crossed her forearms and turned away from me, guess it was a…female thing. I sighed softly, laying down on a bedroll that we found at the camp, falling asleep soon enough.
I was awoken by a cold metal hoof poking my side.
“I think he’s either malfunctioning or shut off….he won’t move, besides when I poke him.” For a robot, she was innocent. Cute, but still. I rolled onto my side, ignoring her pokes. “He moved! He’s online! C’mon master, get up! The bird wants to take you someplace!” I rolled back over, looking in her cold eyes with my tired ones. “Sweetie, let me get five more minutes? Please?.....” “Nu Master! Get up!” She poked me again, and so I listened to her, I got up. If only to escape the hell of pokes. I tiredly threw on my gear and clothing, noticing everyone else was fully loaded and ready. And Jade, with her face lit up in excitement. Today, it was going to be one of those interesting days.
Because Jade took us to a robot factory a ways north of Pegas.
I looked over at Jade, a twitch in my eye. “Jade….this is an abandoned Robronco robot factory…..what are we doing here?” She looked at me with a cheerful smile. “Don’t worry, this place hasn’t worked in ages, or so my sources tell me. You’ll be fine.” I looked at her flatly. “Robots.” She kept that same smile. “Are not working. They can’t hurt us if they can’t function.” I gave her the same look, she was crazy, why do I get all the crazies?
So we headed for the doors, Me, Jade, Blue, and Sweetie. We were greeted by dust. Lots of dust.
We all coughed loudly, well, besides Sweetie. I waved my hoof to clear it and all I saw was a empty front room, with some long abandoned display cases, probally already looted of their valuables when the spells went off. “See Eissen, not a robot in sight! And deeper inside are Pre-War treasures, all for the taking! Hehe!” She danced around the room with glee. I sighed. “Oh shut up Jade, you’re right, no robots. Happy?” She nodded quickly, with a big dumb smile on her face. I trotted into the lobby, looking around, then I saw a blue blur go by me, I turned and saw one of the most creepiest things I will ever see in my life. Blue, standing infront of a display case with a robot in it, a big one. I couldn’t tell what model, but that wasn’t it.
Blue had a wingboner.
An obvious one…..
I face hoofed. I got the crazies……. “Blue….what are you doing?” She didn’t seem to notice me, still staring at that machine, “BLUE!” That got her, she jumped into the air, and fluttered for a moment before calming down. “U-uh, what Eissen?” I gave her a flat look. “What happened? You zoned out at the machine.” She fluttered to the ground, rubbing her left foreleg. “U-uh….”
Then Jade decided to cut in.
“Hey Featherbrain, need a little help with those wings?~” Jade said this as she lightly slapped Blue’s flank. Blue’s face turned to purple from a blush, then the next thing I know I hear a loud hoof on skin sound. And Jade was in the floor, holding her face. “Hmph, you could’ve asked politely.” Blue trotted off into another room, Jade was laying there, holding her newest injury, and Sweetie was looking around curiously.
Yep.
I get all the crazies.
After a few minutes, I heard Jade get up slowly, then suddenly say “Wait Blue! I can do polite! Come back!” And off she went, leaving me and Sweetie. I turned to Sweetie. “I’m not crazy, am I?” She looked at me cutely, and smiled. “Of course not master! Why would you be insane?” I sighed, “Thanks Sweetie, now how be we go the other way then the two crazy girls, eh? It’d be a good rest from them.” I said as I trotted toward the other doorway, opposite side from the two love birds, hoping to get a break today.
Turns out, shit was about to hit the fan.
Hard.
