Chapter 1
Well it does not take much to get killed in this world. No, honestly there are thousands of ways to die every day. I would have enjoyed tripping on a brick, snapping my neck, or some lame 80's death instead of getting hit with a nuke. Yeah, getting killed by the bomb was such a ball buster. I was looking forward to the wasteland and all that shit! I mean I spent the past week playing Fallout!
So anyways... I'm floating around... in a large white room... wearing burnt up clothes, and I'm talking to God or some other floating spirit ball of light thing-y. I kinda spaced out. He said that losing focus is common when experiencing death. I tried to ignore him but his voice is the only thing I can hear so... I might as well listen.
"You've never been a believer in faith, have you Dustin?" God asked me as I rolled my eyes.
"I believe in my own faith. Myself. Oh! And Tom Cruise!"
"*sigh*... Where do I begin with you?"
"Well... I guess we can skip the pleasantries so you can give me the option of Heaven or Hell."
"Well you're smarter than you look. Yes let's skip the pleasantries. I have 6 billion other souls to talk to."
"Hey! I try to be smart dude! Just because you can criticize me doesn't mean you should."
"*chuckle* You know what? I like you kid. I also know about certain things you like."
"Really? Name one..."
"My Little Pony."
"...You win this round."
"How about I send you to Equestria?"
"You'd do that man?"
"Sure thing... 'dude'. Just close your eyes and open them when you're ready."
"Yeah right!" I said with a laugh as I closed my eyes. I opened them to see that I was now standing in a forest. I had a faint heart attack and fell to the floor in shock as I was now in a new world. I looked down to see I was a pony. Yep. And of course I couldn't be normal looking either. I had a silver coat, and the same messy spiked brown hair that I styled myself with daily. I guess that my eyes were still grey and the only piece of clothing I had were my vest and one leather bracelet.
I quickly got some sense back into my head and jumped back up to my... hooves. It wasn't easy being a pony but a few minutes of stumbling through the woods later and I learned to walk properly. A quick thought went coursing through my head and I imagined myself having wings. I looked back and was disappointed to see that I did not have them. I couldn't tell with my vest on.
"Cool... Earth pony. God couldn't give me some help, could he?" I told myself. Why my back kept on itching, I don't know. But I kept making my way through the woods, minding my business, not letting the growls and tension get to me. Eventually, I found the exit! Yes! I was so excited to learn that I was still surviving and far away from the dangerous Everfree Forest. I remembered most of the details from the show. I also remember that the first place I should look for is Ponyville.
I hiked down the trail, leading astray from the woods, to find the town relatively close by. Now I'm not a genius, but I do know that a town is safer than the woods inhabited by monsters and savage animals. The ponies living in the town were friendly and generous towards each other. Not one of them didn't belong here... well except me.
"Hey! Are you new here?" I heard behind me.
"Yes!" I answered carelessly. I didn't have enough time to turn around before I was tackled by the voice who spoke to me. After falling and rolling on the ground, I found myself staring in the eyes of Pinkie Pie.
"Hi! I'm Pinkie Pie! You?"
"Uh...um...it's hard to think when you're on top of me Pinkie." Crap, I forgot to think of a new name. Well I need to think it up now and make it sound convincing. Oh! I can use my job back on Earth as a name! No... Repair Technician is without a doubt... the worst fucking pony name out there. Hmm... "I'm...uh..." I looked to my right to see the sun was setting. My favorite time of day. "Dusk..." my mouth told her. I didn't mean to say it. Then a gust of wind hit me in the face. "Breeze."
"Dusk Breeze eh?" she asked looking me in the face. I didn't even know I said it! My mouth was working on it's own! But... I guess I was okay with it. I actually like the sound of it. I doubt it's original but... it's convincing. It even fits my description. "Well welcome to Ponyville!"
"He he he... thanks..." I told her with a nervous chuckle and scratching the back of my head. I don't even know how I scratched myself without fingers. It just felt natural. I can't really explain it... so I'm not gonna. I've been thinking... If I was brought to Ponyville... then how many other bronies are on the way?
I think about my family... no I'm not married, I'm only 20. I mean my friends at the orphanage. I'd say I missed my girlfriend... if she was a brony and if we didn't have a big fight a couple days ago leading to her nervous breakdown and dumping my ass. All around, she was a bitch and I shall no longer talk to her. I'm in the land of my dreams! I should be happy! I should be... But in all honesty I still feel kinda... dead. But no worries! God said It'll wear off in a day or two.
"I have so many great friends for you to meet! You'll have fun fun fun with us!"
"That sounds like fun." I told her, making my puns as usual. I kept having this feeling over my shoulder like... I don't know, like something bad was about to happen. It was Pinkie! I remember now! Her parties! Oh god... I hate parties! Hell nothing seemed right. That was mainly due to the fact that I was a human a couple hours ago. I was alive, at a party (Ironic, but you sometimes you do things you hate before you die.)
Pinkie Pie led me to a treehouse in the middle of town. No it wasn't a house up in a tree! It was a tree, with a house inside it! It was the library from the show.
"Here's where Twilight lives!"
"Twilight?" I asked, trying to sound dumb.
"Twilight Sparkle! Yeah! She's like, the most talented unicorn ever! She's also Celestia's personal student!"
"Well that's good to know!"
"What do you like to do for fun?"
"Well... I like to hang with friends, do crazy activities, and I'm also a grade-A adventurer." I told her as we continued to walk. I was actually trying to get away from Pinkie. She was hopping up and down constantly, she would not stop asking me questions, and each time I stopped talking, she would just say fun over and over. So imagine between every breath there was a 'fun'. Just imagine... how much my head hurts. I don't think I can handle more of it...
"Hey Pinkie!" I heard from above me. I looked up to see Rainbow Dash, laying on a cloud and looking down on us. She must have been able to see the distress on my face. From that height however... incredible. "I heard that Rarity needs your help!" Rainbow Dash lied.
"Okie doki loki!" Pinkie told her before looking back at me. "I'll see you later Dusk!"
"S-sure thing Pinkie..." I didn't finish as she bolted to the other side of town, leaving a trail of smoke. "...Pie. Thank you!" I cried to Rainbow Dash.
"Oh no problem." she said flying down to me. It was nice to talk to someone... that wasn't Pinkie Pie. "Hmm... you're kinda cute."
"Excuse me?" I asked her.
"It's probably why Pinkie was following you around everywhere!" I felt the blood leave my face and all hope fly out of the window. Was Pinkie Pie going to follow me for the rest of my new life?! "Hahaha! You should see your face! Pinkie just followed you around because you're new here."
"Good good..."
"I'm Rainbow Dash!"
"Uh...Dusk Breeze."
"You seem like a pretty cool stallion! Kinda lame you're a Earth pony and all."
"Sorry?" I've read enough fan fiction to know how people exaggerate on how she likes to race. Wait, no that's in the actual show. She does love to race! Well lucky for me I don't have to. No as a matter of fact, I bet their will be other bronies who will take up that position. I can see it now. Racing for the heart of the fair maiden Rainbow Dash. It's like the Bachelor but actually worth watching.
I felt bad for lying to her. To Pinkie Pie as well. I didn't want to use a fake name, I wanted to use something like 'Valentinez Alkalinella Xifax Sicidabohertz Gombigobilla Blue Stradivari Talentrent Pierre Andri Charton-Haymoss Ivanovici Baldeus George Doitzel Kaiser the III'... But I don't think they would remember that. But I can't just give them my human name either! Here's a good way to think of it...
Humans are like explosive pickles. It's the one jar that you never EVER want to open, for if you do, an unimaginable world of hurt will open and everyone will be affected. It's my duty to keep that a secret between myself and other humans if I come across any. It might be best if I don't. I should just stick to using Dusk Breeze for now. It's the only way to keep myself and the inhabitants of this peaceful world safe.
"No it's cool! I know some other things we can do together..." she said while fluttering her eyelids.
"...Sure..." I told her half-confused. "Maybe a walk in the park will ease my mind a bit." I told her while walking away.
"Wait!"
"Hmm?"
"Park's in the other direction."
"Thanks!" I told her as we both walked towards the peaceful little pond in the middle of the park. I spent a majority of time looking in my reflection in the pool, grumbling to myself how similar I looked to my original human body. I eventually remembered how hungry I was and looked at a fish in the pool. My first instinct was to catch it and cook it, but aren't ponies vegetarians? Would I be committing a crime by eating this animal? "So...Dash, any good places around here to eat?"
"Yeah! You want a bite to eat?"
"You see... the problem is..." I told her as I pulled my wallet from my pocket. "Do they accept this kind of money?" I asked handing a $20 bill to her.
"What is this?"
"...Money."
"Uh... where are you from exactly?"
"Oh you know... the south... the deep south." I told her, making another pun.
"I don't get it."
"Hell."
"You came from Hell?"
"Sort of... well the world I lived in was Hell to me anyways. So no I don't share the same kind of currency as you."
"How did you get here?" she asked, looking at me like I was insane.
"Good question. I woke up and I was in the forest over there." I said putting a hoof on my shoulder and pointing to the Everfree forest. I gave her the nicest and most sincere smile I could muster to prove my innocence, and sure enough she believed me.
"I'd take you for a bite but I have some practice to do."
"Practice?"
"I'm going to join the Wonderbolts!"
"...Well good luck with that."
"What's that suppose to mean?"
"...Good luck with that? The training I mean. I don't know the Wonderbolts very well. Unicorn, remember?" I said tapping my horn.
"Oh yeah... kinda forgot that about you."
"I can give you some advice for training."
"What?"
"All you need is a montage."
"I don't think that would help me."
"Go do a montage then come back to me. Until then, I shall be roaming around the town like a vagabond to see how many... what's the currency here?"
"Bits."
"To see how many bits I can earn." Rainbow Dash nodded her head and flew away from me while telling me she would see me later. Now I was alone again. But watching the rainbow pegasus fly away made me fell happy on the inside, like I made another friend. This was a good thing. I thought about how would I make it in this world? Would some of my friends die and join me here? Or... will I be subject to living on the streets like a hobo. So many things could happen... so until then I need to take my time around here, take things slow.
I walked into town, keeping my thoughts on going through my pockets. All I had was my wallet with all of my information inside (What good could that do me?) I had some chap-stick, and some pens and pencils. Not a single weapon or something that could be of use to me. I did find my iPod but that wouldn't last long. I didn't have my phone, it was in my pants and... well I don't have pants anymore do I?
I found myself in a market convention, as ponies owned stalls and other ponies moved left and right, buying things they needed. Sadly I had no useable money so the less time I spent around here, the better. I kept walking until I was knocked to the ground by someone on my left.
"Oh I'm so sorry!" Twilight Sparkle exclaimed helping me up immediately.
"No no, it was my fault. I didn't see you."
"I was so busy reading my book that I didn't pay attention to you so it's my fault."
"No, I insist that it was my fault."
"I just tackled you and you think it's your fault?"
"I'm can't to blame a cute little mare like you. How would that make me look?" I told her, earning a cute blush as a reward.
"You're new here aren't you?"
"Yes, I am new to Ponyville. Dusk Breeze." I offered my hoof.
"Twilight Sparkle." she said shaking my hoof. This was the start of a wonderful friendship, no doubt.
"Well let me get these books for you Twilight." I told her as I started to pick the books up. I was a gentleman, even though I spent most of my time goofing off and avoiding social contact. I wasn't a fan of sports... nor was I some sort of nerd. A geek, maybe. There's a difference between geeks and nerds actually. Geeks are about 9x more handsome than nerds, and they are easier and more fun to talk to. That's a natural fact right there.
With nerds, you often see the pimply kids with bucked teeth, glasses, bad hair, and just an awful taste in clothing. With geeks you see pretty smiles, often girls, and regular clothing. I mean I usually dress up like I'm going to walk outside, which we all know that a nerd will burn up the second the sun touches his/her delicate pale skin. They won't go through combustion like a vampire, but they'll hiss and turn tail.
"So Dusk Breeze, what brings you to town?"
"Well I already told another pony here, a Ms. Rainbow Dash?" I asked her, still keeping up the dumb routine.
"She's one of my best friends!" You don't say? "What did you tell her?"
"I just woke up and all of a sudden I was in the Everfree Forest."
"Oh Celestia, that must have been horrible!"
"Bah, no troubles. However I don't have any money on me... or idea of where any of my friends and family are."
"That sounds awful!"
"Don't worry about it-"
"I will worry about it! You came here with no money, and you have no where to go! I bumped into you and I will repay you!"
"Uh huh?"
"Why don't you stay with me at my house for the time being?"
"A-are you sure?" I asked nervously. Not even my ex-girlfriend would sleep with me. Short and simple, she hated sex. She couldn't even sleep with an animal, let alone me. No kidding! She always yelled at me when my cat would make her way to her bed. She even kicked the poor thing! Oh poor Nova... my sweet sweet little kitty. How I miss you right now. I hope your having fun in kitty heaven!
"Of course! You need a home don't you?"
"Well... it beats living on the street doesn't it? Okay Twilight Sparkle... I shall take up your offer, I am forever in your debt."
"No your not in debt to me. Consider it what friends do for each other."
"Thank you."
"*giggle* Your welcome." I quickly took note of her kindness. I hadn't truly experience such kindness before in my life. Living with tons of other kids in an orphanage where our foster parents was 1 very nice, kind, young hardworking woman named Rebecca, and the other tenant was the meanest and nastiest preacher in town named Father Timothy. Thankfully I didn't go to his sermons to hear his voice echo through the church, or I would've gone insane. "So Dusk, it's going to be a while before I go back home. Would you help me finish my shopping?"
"It would be my honor." I said, earning another blush and giggle from the purple unicorn. I always liked her more than the others in the show. I had one friend once who explained to me how Twilight had no personality. Yeah! No joke! I overreacted of course and tried to defend the at-the-time-imaginary girl's honor. I think I'm getting distracted, because I'm talking to that very same imaginary girl right now, and she's as real as me.
This is turning out better than I expected. My honest expectation, considering my awful luck, was that I would get mauled to death by a manticore or some other mythical beast the second I got to my senses. But instead I'm helping my favorite character from one of my favorite TV shows go shopping. Very odd indeed... but I prefer this than dying again. I walked with Twilight through the market as she picked up supplies for writing.
Ink, quills, and scrolls. I didn't understand her actually. If there is one pony who DJ's for a living and has all the technology needed to make dubstep music, then you'd expect Twilight to know what a simple fucking pen is... oh hey that's not a bad idea.
"Twilight, I see you have a um... quill there."
"Yeah! Spike goes through them rather quickly though." Actually... I'm gonna hold on to the pen idea. Maybe they don't exist yet... I can go to the guy who sends ideas to the princess! I can make a fortune off of this! But if I do... I won't get to live with Twilight will I? Hmm... decisions decisions... money or possible love interest? *sigh* Only one of these choices will make me happy... truly happy. And you can't buy love.
"Spike?" I asked, changing the topic. I chose possible love interest, in case you haven't noticed.
"My brother. Or at least I consider him that. He's a baby dragon that lives with me."
"A dragon? Oh that sounds awesome!"
"You're not scared of dragons?"
"Nah..." I haven't seen them yet to be scared. "I actually have a case of Toxiphobia. It means I'm scared of being poisoned and any creature which is poisonous."
"Most ponies would say they were scared of something like dragons or in Fluttershy's case, even their own shadow. It's nice to know that there is a pony around with an actual fear."
"Just the thought of poison in my blood...ugh..." I gave my body a quick shiver and thought on Twilight's words. I'm guessing that dragons aren't really all that scary. I already knew Fluttershy was scared of everything though, so that's not a shocker. "Well what about you? You got me to tell you my fear."
"*giggle* A girl shouldn't tell her secrets."
"Aw what? But I-"
"You told me yours by accident."
"*chuckle* Well played Twilight."
"It's what my BBBFF tells me all the time."
"B...B...BFF?"
"Big brother best friend forever. Shining Armor."
"Ah... that makes sense."
"I don't think I ever told any of my friends about Shining Armor... oh well." That's an understatement. Don't tell me the Royal Wedding hasn't happened yet! Oh wait... that's a good thing, I think. Yeah now I'll be able to experience it. "Now where was the Boutique again?" Twilight said to herself.
"I thought you knew your way around this place." I asked her.
"I've only been here for two days." Two days? Hmm... then... the Nightmare Moon incident must have just ended. "I'm still learning my way around here." She's right. And this is the first time I've seen Ponyville for real. It's a lot bigger than the show... shows it.
"Well now we can learn together. What Boutique is it?"
"The Carousel Boutique."
"Alright." I told her as I looked to my right. I went to question the grey mailmare with blond hair and crossways eyes who stood there. "Excuse me Miss, do you know where the Carousel Boutique is?"
"Yeah I do. Just make a right up ahead and cross the bridge." she said pointing down the road.
"Thank you." I told her. Recognizing her as Ditzy Doo, or 'Derpy Hooves' as the fans dubbed her. Her intended name is Ditzy Doo! (F.Y.I., Derpy means to act retarded or one who is retarded. NOT a good name.) Twilight and I quickly walked down the road and turned right to see the Boutique. Of course the mare who delivers mail knows where it is. She wouldn't have a job if she didn't, right?
"Rarity!" Twilight said while knocking on the door. "Hello? Anypony home?" ...Did she say anypony? Aw shit I forgot! Equestria, duh. Come on Dustin! Get your shit together! "Odd, she should be here."
"Well she might be busy." I told her as we walked inside. I looked in the mirror to get a better look at my vest. It had many red stains in it and was heavily burnt and torn. No wonder Twilight took pity on me! I look like I died! I swear, all day, ponies have just been eying me down and giving me the creeps. I need a new coat... and maybe a day of sleep. Some food... maybe a job, who knows. As a matter of fact, I do know. I need to just keep moving forward! Don't let me down Disney!
"She told me she was here." Twilight said as we got close to the stairs. The sound of running water told me where she was. "Oh she's in the bathroom. Be right back." Wait? Isn't she in the bath? Why would you disturb her if she's in the bath? Maybe it's just the sink. Who takes a bath at 6 in the evening?
"Yeah." I said sitting down. I took my vest off since the bloodied burnt object would attract the wrong kind of attention to me. This is why Twilight was so scared when she knocked into me. She thought I was seriously injured! She had tears in her eyes for Christ's sake! I reached back to scratch my back, which was itching for the past who knows how long, to find that I really did have wings. I had two large silver wings! I'm a fucking pegasus! Fuck yeah! "Oh no way!" I exclaimed.
"What?" Twilight asked walking down with Rarity. "I didn't know you were a pegasus!"
"Neither did I..." I mumbled.
"What was that?"
"Oh... um.... nothing Twilight." I said quieting down.
"*gasp* What is this awful, horrid piece of filth you call clothing?" Rarity asked. She didn't look like she just took a bath so I guess she was using the sink. Oh wait, she has a cat. I gave my cat baths, so I'm sure she gives her's one.
"Hey! That's my favorite vest, thank you very much. And I can't really say what happened to it." I said holding it up to show the burns and cuts.
"What is the red in it?"
"It's... uh... Ketchup. I had a Ketchup accident. Tomato sauce. You know, it get's messy."
"...That it does. So you must be Dusk Breeze. He's more handsome than you described Twilight!"
"Rarity!" The unicorn exclaimed with a blush on her face.
"Relax, I'm teasing you darling. So Dusk, why would you keep this horrid vest around?"
"I couldn't get a better one Ms. Rarity. Please excuse me for my lack of proper clothing." I told her with my hooves out like a prayer. I was even on my knees.
"You don't need to act so chivalrous towards me!" she told me while picking up the vest. "You are in need of help and I shall help you! I am the most generous pony in Ponyville after all. Come with me Dusk!" she said making her way towards the stairs.
"Go on." Twilight said. "I need to go pick up a package real quick. I'll be back to get you."
"O-okay." I told her as I walked with Rarity upstairs. She quickly grabbed some measuring tape and started working on all of my features.
"First step... we ditch this." she said dropping my vest in the trashcan. I quickly pulled it out and took my wallet and pens out of the pockets. "Step two..." she stopped when she looked deep into my eyes. "I think white would look good on you."
"Huh? What do-" I didn't finish as she threw a white shirt on me and buttoned it up. How she did that, I can't really answer. But she is the clothing expert. She probably worked out a way to put a shirt on me without me moving. This is a cartoon after all. She then went to work on something I couldn't see due to the angle she was at, but she turned around with a black dress vest that was perfect for travel. She even put slots in the back for my wings.
I could now walk around in proper clothes, AND my back didn't itch! Genius! I looked like a new man er.... stallion. I looked like a brand fucking new stallion straight out of business. I looked like I was a believable gentleman now, instead of a raggedy hobo. The only odd thing was that she somehow put a black bow-tie on me when I wasn't looking. I smiled and nodded my head to make her cheer and hop with joy.
"Thank you Rarity. You're a Saint!"
"*giggle* Oh there aren't many stallions like yourself around these parts anymore. I'm surprised that with your manners that you aren't a prince."
"A prince? Me? Oh Rarity, you saw the stains and damage on that vest. I'm the guy who actually has to work! Not like those snobs who sit around all day in a golden chair eating exotic meals. I hope I'm not being offensive."
"Not at all. Honesty is a rare trait these days. The only other pony I know whose honest is Applejack."
"Then I ought to pay her a visit soon."
"Well you had better go find Twilight. Seeing how she's taking care of you and all."
"I will... thanks." I said with a laugh. I made it halfway down the steps before I heard Rarity yell at me.
"You take good care of Twilight, Dusk Breeze! Treat her right!"
"W-what?" I asked, feeling a blush grow on my face.
"And if you don't, I'll rip you to shreds!"
"...Uhhhh-"
"Have a good night Dusk! And do stop by soon, I may have some clothing designs that you can help me with."
"Sure thing Rarity. Bye." I said as I walked outside. I saw Twilight waiting on me with another bag over her shoulder. "Here let me get those." I said lifting them up with my wings and holding on to them.
"Wow you sure do look... strapping." she said, trying to hide her blush.
"Meh... the bow-tie is a bit overkill, don't you think? I mean yes bow-ties are cool but... I don't think I should wear one all the time." I said nudging it and pulling it off my neck. I gently folded it and placed it inside my left breast pocket. Or at least I think that's the breast pocket... how many nipples do ponies have? Oh god oh god... I can't think about this! Well technically I just did... *sigh* I'm still not use to being a pony. But at least the dead feeling has worn off a lot.
"Well let's get home Dusk. It gets really cold out at night."
"Oh no worries my dear." I said wrapping a wing around her, making her blush cover her entire shocked face. This might have been... a little too much for her to handle, but she didn't fight back. That's the odd part. If she didn't like me and wanted me only as a friend, then she would have pushed me away right? No instead she accepted it and hugged me with her body. "As long as I'm around, you'll be fine."
"I...appreciate it."
"So where is your house?"
"Right up ahead." I stopped and looked seriously at the treehouse. It wasn't a house up in a tree! No! It was a tree with a house in it! A literal treehouse! Of course I watched the show, but I always forgot about this!
"Nice! A house in a tree! I've never seen that before!"
"Really? It's pretty common."
"It is...?"
"*giggle* I keep forgetting your new here." I gave a sigh while turning my head in the other direction making her giggle again. Today had been a good day, I've already made about 3, maybe 4 new friends. I haven't met Applejack or Fluttershy yet, but besides them I'd also make other friends. I'm sure of it. We walked inside of Twilight's house, and instantly all of my worries left me. I saw every book, every detail around every corner... it was all real.
"Thanks for giving me a home Twilight. I'll repay your kindness someway, I'm sure of it."
"Well let's go ahead and have some dinner. Spike's probably out exploring town."
"Sure." I said walking into the small kitchen. I took a seat at the table where Twilight pointed too and she made me a sandwich. It was... a daffodil sandwich? Yeah, that with lettuce. I didn't want to be rude to her as she happily ate hers so I took a bite out of it only to find that it was extremely delicious! My taste buds must have been enhanced for vegetarian traits. It was also quite filling, so only one sandwich was all that was needed to make me full. "Thanks for dinner."
"You're welcome."
"How many times have I thanked you today?"
"Me? 3."
"*cough* You kept count?"
"Yep!"
"Well... you're full of surprises Twilight."
"How so?"
"Well for one you-"
"Twilight!" said a voice from the door. I stopped talking and looked over her shoulder to see the small purple and green dragon who I remember being Spike. He stared at me with both confusion and anger. "Whose he?"
"Hello!" I said waving my hoof at him.
"Spike, this is Dusk Breeze. I'm offering him a home for the time being."
"What? Why?"
"Because he's homeless!" Twilight whispered. She pulled Spike in so she could quietly talk into his ear. I just sipped on a glass of water with my head in my hoof as I waited for them to finish. "Can you please behave yourself?"
"I'll try."
"Thank you Spike." I stood up to walk over and shake hands with him. He accepted it, actually.
"You had better watch yourself around here tough guy!" Spike said towards me. "If you hurt Twilight than I'll have to hurt you!"
"Thank you for defending your sister." I told Spike as I put a hoof on his shoulder. "You've got a good heart in you Spike." I said, earning a smile from him. "But I promise that I will try my best to not hurt Twilight for as long as I'm here."
"Well...okay..." he said. It's better to build bridges than to burn them, and making Spike an ally will only increase my chances of staying here with Twilight. "Goodnight Twilight."
"Goodnight Spike." she said, kissing him gently on the forehead.
"Hey! Knock it off! I'm not a kid anymore!"
"You're still a baby dragon Spike!" The dragon grumbled as a blush grew on his face. He turned around and walked up the stairs. "Thank you for getting along with him." she said towards me.
"Oh no problem Twilight." I said walking into the main room, looking for a couch. There was no furniture for me to sleep on in this room, so I guess she had something else planned. Didn't she say she had to pick up a special package? I wonder what it was... hmm... now I'm curious. Should I ask? No! Of course not!
"It's getting pretty late isn't it?" Twilight asked me.
"It sure is."
"Well come on." she said heading upstairs. As we did, I quickly looked over into her saddle bag to see a book. I only managed to see the cover but it was all I needed to see. 'The best ways to get the stallion of your dreams!' it said, with a big heart in the middle. She was reading it when I left Rarity's. Have I already started to win her heart? It's only been one day though, so I imagine giving it a week before I test that theory.
"So where do I sleep?" I asked her.
"You can share the bed with me."
"*gulp* Um..." Oh come on Dustin! The girl has feelings for you and she's offering you a bed! Take it or leave it! Didn't she have a guest bed, by the way? Yeah! In that sleepover episode! This must be her attempt to hit on me! Well... it's working. "Thank you very much." I said unbuttoning my vest.
"That's 4 times now."
"Oh...hahaha..." She is so much better than the girl I use to date. What was her name? Allie or Katie? I can't remember. Spent all of my time doing other things I cared about like... exercising or working. I guess I only cared about my cat... My foster parent (Only Ms. Rebecca.) and my friends. That's it.
"Are you okay? You look pale."
"I'm just thinking about something."
"What is it?" she asked, her eyes giving me that sparkle which she is iconic for having.
"Ah ah ah... secret." I said taking my vest and shirt off as I hung them on the stairwell post. I positioned myself on my side of the bed and she got in pulling the blanket over us. "Thanks again, Twilight."
"5, and you're welcome."
"Goodnight. Goodnight Spike!"
"Goodnight Dusk." He mumbled. I laid down and closed my eyes, but quickly opened them when I heard a book page turn. I looked over to see Twilight reading that book again. I was able to make out a quick bit of the text before I had to close my eyes again to keep her from seeing me. I read: 'If you offer to share a bed with him and he's hesitant at first, then he is nervous around you! A good sign that his feelings are developing for you!'
That was all the text I needed to read to put the thought that Twilight liked me back in my mind. I smiled to myself at that thought and quickly felt happier about myself. Then sleep quickly fell upon me, like a soft blanket. I guess that Twilight was going to keep reading her book for a while, but she was expecting me to sleep anyways. Today was a good day. I got some new clothes, made some new friends, and I have a better home than the orphanage.
I just need to be careful... to pace myself. I wasn't kidding about that human/explosive pickle metaphor. I need to keep a lid on it until either the time is right, or I am forced too. I could fall into this romance thing with Twilight... and then what? Do I spill the beans about being human? Will she accept or reject me? Only time will tell and... in this case, the more time the better.
