Slinky was a peculiar pony, his eyes were worn and tired. His coat, a dull chestnut with a Cutiemark of a black, indiscriminate, opaque smudge. He never stuck out of crowds and he appeared to lead an unremarkable life. Life for him mostly consisted of unenthusiastically following crowds. But on this day, Slinky's routine was broken by an innocent little filly, beaming, pummeling him with uncomfortable pride. She lurched in front of him, letting out a long and loud greeting. Slinky tried to push out a dismissive hello, but having not talked for such a long time, he just made a sort of broken grumble with a dismissive inflection. The colorful filly, puzzled but not slowed, told Slinky that she had just gotten her Cutiemark, she was so enthralled that she felt the need to tell someone, even if that “someone” was a complete stranger. It was clear that she hammered out this speech to many other people and she was just following suit with Slinky. Slinky glanced at the Cutiemark only to growl with rage. The filly was dumbfounded, she started tripping over her seemingly rehearsed speech and stormed off, crying over his feverish reaction to the helical spring mark on her flank.
