Intro: Awakening.
I awoke to a cool soft breeze and all was quiet, and yet something felt out of place. It took me a moment to collect myself and fully wake up, but when I did I began to notice that I had not woken up anywhere familiar. Instead of my usual bedroom in my cozy flat, I was on a rather rough ground in what appeared to be a jail cell. The rusted metal door of the cell was hanging open by a single hinge, and was swinging in a way that made an eery creek every time it did so. The room itself reflected the state of the door. It smelled, and there was a weird humid feeling in the air. Where the hell am I?
I thought to myself. I looked around trying to see something that would indicate as to where I was, but I could find nothing. Instead I figured that I wouldn't get any answers by just sitting there, so I decided to look around. The hallway outside gave me the chills, but it was a start. There was a faint glow out in the corridor before me. I thought that at least looked promising. I shifted but body around but somthing felt off. I paid little mind to this.
Just as I started to get up there was a loud crashing noise from out in the corridor. Now fully up, I reached out a hand towards the door frame to steady myself. As soon as my “hand” came into view I gasped and fell back to the floor. “Wha- what the hell?!” I exclaimed. My hands, and the rest of my body for that matter, looked... well... as if I had been turned into a horse. What’s more is that my coat was a vibrant green so I didn’t look anything like any horse I’ve ever seen.. I looked at the rest of my body more thoroughly I noticed I had a pair of muscular looking wings. The heck?...So.. I’m a pegasus? I saw my hair (or mane I guess) and liked the color scheme I saw. My mane for the most part was a very bright electric blue with small streaks of red. I thought I was hallucinating at first. I wasn't really the type to do drugs, so that couldn't be it. Also, I couldn't really recall what had happened to me that caused this sudden amnesia I was experiencing. This made me slightly pissed. Here I was, in some god-for-saken shit hole with not a clue on how I got here. Am I dreaming?... No, I can’t be. This just feels too real. My mind was spinning with thought. I looked in disbelief at my new figure, then rubbed my left hoof against my right forelimb to get a sense of what my new body felt like. It felt like a very soft, comfortable material. Just then, another loud crash from the corridor brought me back to my senses, and to the strange reality that had engulfed me. I slowly made my way through cell door and leaned against a wall for support. “Hello?’ I called out into the growing darkness. :Hello...?” I called out a little louder. I gazed to the black void in front of me. I saw the source of the light that was illuminating the corridor so well that I had trouble directly looking at it. Thankfully it was an old oil lantern so I could pick it up with my teeth. I stepped forward, only to be stopped by a deafening, high pitch roar.
I stopped dead in my tracks. A cold, menacing shiver ran it’s way through the length of my spine my ears flattened and I suddenly felt as though the lantern wasn't there. I was terrified. What in the hell...? My thoughts were interrupted with another blood curdling roar that oddly enough came right before a high pitched sounding scream replacing it. Without a second thought I ran deep into the darkness, following the screams of the petrified sounding woman. “Hold on! I’m coming!” I yelled out to the top of my lungs. I feared as though her time was quickly running out, but I instantly shoved the thought to the furthest corner of my mind. Such thoughts would only lead to losing my complete focus on the task at hoof. She has to be okay, not only will she be able to help explain things but that thing in their with her sounds quite terrible. With this in mind, I began as fast as humanly possi-...okay well maybe as fast as ponily possible. Another series of a roar and screams filled the air and that only made push harder and speed forward. Use your wings young one, you will arrive there must faster. I stopped right then and there. I spun around wildly, looking around for the source of the voice. “Hello? Who’s there? What the hell is going on? Where am I?!” There was a brief silence, but then the angelic sounding voice returned once more. Patience young one, I’m afraid I can’t explain everything right now. However I will tell you this, that voice you hear screaming right now belongs to that of a mare. A mare who is in fear for her life, and a mare who is in terrible danger from the beast with her. YOU MUST SAVE HER! She will not only be of great help getting you out of this predicament but she is also someone of great importance. Rescue her then I will explain things. I promise.
I felt like I was in a daze. The voice I figured was somehow communicating with me in my thoughts. Alright then, I will save her..but can you at least tell me what I’m up against? There was a short pause but then she spoke again. The beast is a manticore, a very large lion with wings. Fighting it will not be easy but you must if you are to save her. No more talk, rescue her! Oh, and for goodness sakes, use your wings. They were given to you for a reason! I huffed at this. How the hell am I suppose to use a pair of body parts I’ve never had?! I searched to find the feeling in the things in question. Surprisingly, this was an easy obstacle. I unfurled them and looked at them closely they had some perspiration already forming due my constant running and I felt a sudden relief having them spread wide. I slowly began to flap them and amazingly enough, I slowly levitated off the ground. Now with a new determination I began running again while flapping my wings rapidly which gave me a considerable boost in my speed. Hold on mistery mare, I’m coming!
