Big Mac's Hearth's Warming Eve
Big Mac's sigh was lost by music of the band.
It was the start of a normal Hearth's Warming Eve party for him. He wasn't much of a dancer, he didn't like music that was normally played, and to top it all off he was single. Caramel kept telling him that things would turn around for him but they never really did. he just couldn't get a marefriend in a town full of mares. These thoughts continued as he sat next to the refreshments. After he took a sip of what seemed to be a bitter punch he began to look at the couples who populated the busy dance floor to see if their might be a single mare out there to dance with.
“Lets see here, well there is Twilight and her marefriend Trixie, how they got together after that whole 'The Great And Powerful Trixie is going to take over the town!' thing, ah will never know. Ah'm still getting paint out of my coat. Pinkie Pie is dancing with any pony and every pony, Rainbowdash is dancing with that wonderbolt... what's their name? Skypie?Sputterfire? Nah don't think that's right at all, eh whatever its not like ah really have any need to know. Rarity invited out that Fancypants guy,they're both very over dressed for this, but ah do have to give the guy credit for coming out to ponyville just for this.No Single mares I can see, oh well ah know how any relationship would end with me anyway...” as Big Mac's thoughts danced in his head, a yellow Pegasus lurked on the wall and watched the red stallion while he was finishing up his drink. She pulled out a small notebook and began to write. The title of this warn out notebook was 'Life notes', the section she was in was titled 'Potential coltfriends 'Mac' '. After she finished adding, “He likes pinkie's punch.” she flipped to the page simplify entitled “positive messages”.
“o..ok Fluttershy you can do this. Repeat lines one though six and approach him. You've only been practicing for eleven months now.” as she quietly murmured as she started to read aloud the positive messages.
Positive Messages
I am an attractive mare!
I have a lovely group of friends!
I am are not shy I am just an introspective mare!
Just ask a colt out for coffee it's easy!
Any stallion would want to date me!

She looked pleased with herself and put the notebook away, she smiled and repeated a couple of the of the lines in her head. After she was finished she looked up to the snack table to find Big Mac gone. She started to panic, “Did he leave with another mare? Oohhh was I too late? Ohh...” Her mind darted with questions swimming to the beat of the band. She very carefully started to skirt the walls of the ballroom careful to avoid contact with anypony and was on the look out for the red colt.
~At the other end of the party a table sits with two very special guests~
“Luna, I'm still not happy that you dragged me to this party... I still have to raise the sun in just a few hours, I dealt with the crystal ponies and their 'oh we haven't been around for a thousand years help us oh mighty one', and to top it all off Prince Blueblood was being the arrogant ass that he always is. 'But auntie I want to rule the west empire!'. I'm thinking about disowning that brat, I mean come on! Also don't even get me started on this week's friendship report! It was all about Twilight’s and Trixie's dates, Even about-”
Princess Celestia continued to prattle on about the many reasons why she was “busy” Luna had found out that during her time on the moon her sister had gone slightly mad, only slightly though. She would find her sister having conversations with food some days, or trying to build a castle out of ponies (all of which were apologized to and given the royal treatment for a few days.), and recently she found her sister making “humans” whatever those are.
“And then I just beat 'Mane effect 3', The ending was awful! I sent them a letter telling them that I would send them to the moon if they didn't fix it-” As Celestia continued Luna sighed, she took a sip from her coffee and nodded or gave a simple response with her sisters' pauses. Luna didn't dance much, she just enjoyed the music at these events and her sisters' constant complaints didn't help the mood that day. Luna eyes started to wander around the room while Celestia prattled on, at the moment it was something about not finding any good bananas. Then Luna spotted something a little particular, a little yellow blob. it seemed to be attached to the wall and to Luna's surprise it seemed to move. After she watched it for a small bit she could see that it was a pony.
“How interesting... Sister do you know who that pony is?” Luna asked interrupting her sister's rant, Celestia was taken a back for a minute, How dare her sister interrupt her rant. Just as she was about to complain that Luna wasn't pay attention to her rant about these random alicorns that had seemed to pop right out of no where. Celestia took a deep breath in and was about to yell, when she realized how off topic she had gotten. she gave her head a good shake and look to Luna.
“Did I start to rant again?” Luna nodded her head to her sister's response. Celestia sighed and took a look at what her sister pointed out. “That yellow blob? Oh that is Fluttershy I believe. You know the bearer of kindness. Didn't she help you control your voice a bit? Not that they really helped that much, I still needed to get a few experts into help you out with that.” Celestia laughed a bit, she really did love the fact that he sister was back. It more or less meant that she was going to be able to have someone to poke fun at, prank, and joke around with again. Luna looked to her sister cleared her throat and smiled.
“SISTER, MAY THOU TELL US WHY FLUTTERSHY BEARER OF KINDNESS IS SULKING ALONG THE WALLS!” Celestia did not expect to receive a blast of Royal Cantorlot voice. She was thrown off her chair and into the closest wall. She was out cold, twitched even. Quite a few ponies witnessed the event that transpired and quickly decided that they would not intervene. A new guard ran over to Celestia but was stopped by a veteran who simply shook his head and said don't even bother. With her sister temporally out of commission Luna got up from her seat and started to trot over to the blob on the wall.
Meanwhile out side the ball room
Big Mac was outside looking over the town of ponyville, he sighed and watched the snow slowly fall from the heavy sky. The music was muted behind the close doors and no pony was outside with him to enjoy what the cold weather had to offer. Big Mac loved and hated this time of year. the snow, laughter, being able to sleep in, the food, and friends made it. But he also felt quite alone at the time as well, he really wanted a mare to hold. The music grew louder for a second and then died again, Big mac turned to see Caramel trot out.
“Hey Mac, what's got you out here? Don't tell me your thinking about mares again.” Caramel asked the work pony.
“ 'ey Caramel, ah don't know. Just feeling a tad lonely.”
“Come on Big Mac, we will find you a mare now lets get back in there!”
“Ah don't know Caramel, Ah might just go home for the night.”
“That's quitter talk Mac and you know it.” Caramel slammed his hoof down on the tile, didn't make much noise but Big Mac understood what he tried to do. It didn't help that Caramel had a few tears in his eyes, apparently he slammed his hoof down to harder then Big Mac thought. He sniffed a bit but was just able to continue.
“M...MMac you are... owww going to back in there and dance with some pony! You just need to think positively about yourself. 'I am an attractive colt!' 'All the mares want me!' 'I make all other colts look like weaklings!'. You just have to for me, cause I don't think I can dance anymore tonight!” Caramel was in a lot of pain but you could see the determination to be coltly! (no wait... apparently Big Mac stated that Caramel curled into a ball right after he left. No pony could move him for hours, poor colt. Didn't help that he also got his tongue frozen to the tile.)
“Your right Caramel, Ah've got to try! Eeeyup I'm just going to go for it!” Full with life again Big Mac ran back inside the ballroom.
"You go bro! Uhh Mac are you going to send any pony out here to help me with my hoof, I think I might have broke it. Mac? Nope you left, aright then. I'm just going to curl up in a ball here and yeah. ow...” And that he did, soon after he curled up he got hungry and tried to eat the snow. This turned out to be a bad plan, poor Caramel, poor poor Caramel.
To the yellow blob on the wall
Fluttershy thought she was safe no pony was paying attention to her or at least she thought. Some ponies gave her some weird looks and even tried to help her off of the wall but she just froze in place, one pony even brought over a pry-bar to help. Needless to say she ran away from the ginger pony with a goatee and thick framed glasses. When she thought she got away a voice surprised her.
“Hello Fluttershy, why are you trying to hide in a party?” The voice made Fluttershy jump as she was already frazzled at the other ponies trying to “help” her get off of the wall.
“L...Luna! I ummm... I, h..how are you princess? I'm well, you? Oh your good! That's good, oohh would you l...look at the time! I've...I've got to go now! A...Angle bunny is expecting me home now! Please don't send me to the dungeon!” Fluttershy was so nervous she used her hooves to cover her eyes and used her wings cover her hooves. When she did this however her note book fell out of her wings and landed on the page entitled Big Mac. It was covered in random scribes, notes, sketches, and hearts. Luna looked at the page and smiled at Fluttershy. Luna picked Fluttershy up with her magic and stood her up.
“Fluttershy do you have an inclination for this Big Mac?” Fluttershy nodded to the princesses but gave no vocal response.
“I see, hmmm some of these notes date back to almost a year ago. Have you had your feeling caged up for this long my dear?” again a simple nod came from her.
“Now my dear Fluttershy, back when I was younger I really enjoyed it when I approached the colts it really threw them off their game. I think you should do the same!” Fluttershy's face dropped, Their was no way that she could do that she thought!
“B...but, but Princess Luna! I can't do that he.. he is a colt and he's most likely not single! I mean I have been following him for the past few months and I'm sure he doesn't! He could have a long distance relationship, Manehatten for example! Or he could not like me... Or even be gay? I mean how awkward would that be? 'Hey Big Mac' 'Oh hey Fluttershy how are you?' 'I'm good Big Mac, Hey I like you want to go on a date?' 'Oh ah'm sorry Fluttershy ah'm gay.' Boom instant awkward. What would I do then Luna? I mean I could bring up the fact that his sister might be gay...” Luna couldn't handle it it was just like her sister, and these excuses went on for awhile. Just like when her sister started to rant Luna started to look around the room, and very quickly spotted the red work horse. The notes and sketches gave her a really good idea who it was. Now it was normally Celestia was the one who interfered with ponies' lives but today she wanted to have some fun. Plus this ranting was getting to her. Fluttershy rant didn't stop at any point which didn't help Luna's mental state.
"And after telling the story about how Twilight and Trixie got together, which is a really interesting story by the way but I swore not to tell anypony about it..."
“Fluttershy!” Luna's voice caused Fluttershy to stop almost immediately. The yellow mare just looked up to the princess and smiled. Luna on the other hoof who was done dealing with rants, picked Fluttershy up with her magic.
“You said at some point you wanted an ice breaker with him correct?” Fluttershy nodded in response.
“Good because that's what your about to get.” Luna said as she smiled a bit too deviously. The yellow mare flinched, she didn't know what was about to happen but she knew it wasn't good.
Where Big Mac was standing
“Ok Big Mac just go up to her and ask her to dan-” As Big Mac was about to finish his thought a scream so loud it drowned out the band stopped them dead in their tracks. As he looked towards the source all he could see was a yellow blur flying towards his face.
“EENOPE!” Is all he could yell before impact, as he and the blur rolled out of the ball room and into the entrance of Town-hall. He quickly got up to help the yellow mare, who he quickly recognized as one of Applejack's friends. Fluttershy he was pretty sure, he never got a good look at her. She was quite cute he thought, A cute girl like her wouldn't be single he continued with his inner dialog.
“You ok miss shy? He handed her his hoof and helped her up.
“Y...Yeah I'm ok just a little sha- EEP!” Her voice cracked up and she stood there frozen in place in front of Big Mac looking a bit silly. Big mac waved his hoof in front of her and then sat down next to her. The music could still be heard through the door way and the band was playing something a bit slower. Big Mac thought that this might be a good time to try and find a dance, But he didn't want to leave this mare stuck here. So he waited a for a few minutes to see if she would leave her shocked state. Fluttershy's mind raced.
"Ok Fluttershy, you can do this just tell him that you think he is cute. No he is going to reject you! Why bother trying? Because he is a gentle colt! he's out of your league! you can't do this! Yes! YES I CAN!" Fluttershy couldn't even make a sound. Here her colt of her dreams stood in front of her and she couldn't even move. Big Mac got up to his hooves and started to walk towards the ballroom still filled with ponies who danced the night away.
“If your ok miss Shy ah think ah might just head back inside.” Big Mac got closer to the door about to swing it open to rejoin the party.
"see I told you you couldn't do it! He was spoon feed to you Fluttershy! Luna broke the ice and you didn't swim you drowned!" Her mind started to beat her up, their was nothing she could do. as she was about to give up her wings fluttered a bit and her note book fell open. She looked down to see a newly written message.
Just Do It
“wait...!” Big Mac stopped dead in his tracks. “I... I want to dance with you...” silently some tears were dripping down her face, the emotions that surfaced that night got to her. She wanted to dance with this colt, she had to dance with this colt.
“Sorry miss Shy what was that?”
"Wait I did it... I did it. Thank you Luna..." Fluttershy's mind clammed down enough for her to look Big Mac in the eye's.
“I want to dance with you...” Fluttershy said a in a louder voice when she looked at the colt. Big mac smiled and approached the mare. He then wiped her tears off her face and took her hoof. Fluttershy smiled and they slowly started to move together. The movements were simple but powerful, the red colt felt powerful yet still showed that he had control over his body and wasn't just a brute. It surprised Big Mac that this mare held quite a bit of power in her movements and wasn't just a glass doll to look at.
“I really like you Big Mac, could we... could we go out for a coffee sometime?” Fluttershy said quietly during their private dance. Big Mac's heart skipped a beat, he smiled at the mare and simple said
“Eeyup.”
Balcony
Caramel was still stuck to the tile outside, this just wasn't his day. First his marefriend breaks up with him, second he got sacked from his job, third he breaks his hoof, fourth his tongue is now stuck to the tile! How could this day get any worse he thinks to himself.
“I'm going to get Luna back for that!” Celestia yelled as she walked out on to the balcony, she sees Caramel stuck to the ground and trots over and sits down.”She always does this! I mean don't get me wrong It sucks that I sent her to the moon, but really! REALLY! Its just like what mom use to do! Let me tell you my little pony! Mom never really punished us it was more of a guilt trip! She would just look at us and say, 'I'm disappointed in you...'.” Celestia continued on this rant while poor Caramel just started to cry. Don't worry Caramel there's always next year.

I don't know why I hate Caramel in this story. But he seemed to fit?
Anyway Marry Christmas bud, I hope you have a great day! Sorry if this isn't what your looking for, but I did the best I could. I had two editors set up and they both dropped out right before the 18th. So I've done the best I can on the editing, I've gone through this story about 10 plus times.changed something every time, So I think I caught most of the mistakes.
I tried to write the Trixie, Twilight ship and I even have about 3 different drafts of different ways to tell it but I couldn't get it to work... Anyway I hope that you get a bit of D'awws and a couple of laughs from this.
