Aquestria

Chapter 1

Pain exploded across his sensor array as he once again was forced to jump through dimensions.  The concept of being pushed around was starting to get very annoying.  He was Sigma, the ultimate sentient being.  He was immortal, invincible, unstoppable.  Yet here he was once again being forced to run away.

The fight had been going well until the damned mask failed him.  His enemies were numerous and if defeated he would be unable to rebuild, or even survive.  The thought alone made Sigma seethe in anger.

As the pain subsided, he opened his eyes.  The world in which he now stood was bright and colorful, even in the dead of night.  The moon was full and bright, giving ample light to the dense forest around him.  He immediately began to scan the area for life and technology.  After a few moments, he expanded his search radius.  After encountering no tech whatsoever, he decided to do a planet wide scan.

The results were less than favorable. ‘To think that the entire planet is practically devoid of tech.  However, what little there is looks promising.’  Sigma double checked his scans; sparse and scattered were the small spattering of tech around the planet, but a large nugget was buried deep within the earth.  Buried deep beneath what his scans indicated to be the most populated area on the planet.

Sigma smiled, ‘That just means more life for me to destroy once I fully understand this planet.’ With that thought in mind he set off toward the buried tech, only to find his path blocked by a huge red dragon that he apparently awoke from a long nap.  The dragon roared and spread its wings, Sigma stood his ground and looked at the dragon. ‘A living dragon? This planet is more mysterious than I first thought.’

“You’re in my way.  Move.”  The dragon looked at the puny bipedal and laughed at the command.  It was the last thing the dragon did as light erupted through its torso.  The charged plasma tore through scale, flesh and bone as if it weren’t there and continued up into the sky to erupt in a display of eerie light.  The body of the dragon collapsed to the ground lifeless and unmoving.  Sigma continued forward as if the dragon had never been there and disappeared into the night, unaware of the eyes that witnessed his actions, unaware of the whisperings of the creatures to one another and their agreement to inform the one who could possibly offer them help.

That night, a lone timberwolf ran through the everfree to seek out the aid of the Seraphim Druid.  The miles it ran were a blur as the night wore on.  As dawn broke, the timberwolf reached the edge of the forest.  It slowly made its way toward the lone cottage just on the forests outskirts and immediately the magic of the everfree waned from his body.  It was here that he would wait for the druid, for she was renowned for being timid and shy when meeting others she did not know.

As the light grew brighter, the timberwolf’s ears pricked at the sound of a voice singing.  The door to the cottage opened and the druid’s voice flowed over his senses.  Her singing lulled him into a state of calmness and lucidity he had never experienced.  As she went about her morning routine, he watched silently as she awoke the small animals from their slumber and gave them all food to break the night’s fast.  One of the animals took notice of him, a small white rabbit, and it tugged on the druid’s pink hair to get her attention.  He prepared himself to meet her.

Angel was tugging my hair and pointing off towards the everfree forest.  His cute little eyes were full of apprehension, so of course I turned to see what had him in such a state.  When I first saw the timberwolf, I immediately hovered away towards my door.  However, he sat there, unmoving and staring at me.  After a few moments I decided to slowly approach the large wooden wolf.  It seemed to want something from me but caution was foremost in my thoughts.

I was only a few feet from him and he slowly bowed his head to me.  I slowly nodded back and he stood up on all fours.  He then looked me directly in the eyes and I saw, I saw his memories.  I saw the armored man appear, I saw his eyes glow eerily as he stood there and smiled.  I saw him confront the dragon, and kill with ease.  The memory gaze ended and I found myself sitting on the ground, tears flowing down my cheeks.

The wolf whimpered and nuzzled my cheek, its muzzle was surprisingly soft for being wooden.  It licked at my tears in an attempt console me and I wrapped my arms around his neck and continued to cry.  After a few minutes, I stood and wiped away my tears.  He looked at me and wagged his tail slowly and I smiled at him. “I will do what I can to warn everyone about this evil man.  You should keep watch for him.  If he comes back, I want you to run.  Do not confront this man.  Warn the others of the Everfree and I will warn Aquestria.  Thank you for bringing me this tragic news, I will ensure that his death was not in vain.

The timberwolf wagged its tail again and left, back into the everfree it ran.  I started back to my cottage to gather my things for the trip into town.  As I packed my things, I told Angel to take care of the other animals and to make sure they were fed.  I locked the door and started towards Circleville.  Twilight had to know about the evil man.  But before I could start down the path to town, a bright light flashed behind my cottage.

I recognized the flash, the evil man appeared in a flash just like it.  I  tensed, ready to run if I could, or fight for the sake of my animals.  A hand appeared at the edge of my house and then a blood red armored man with long red hair, limped into view.  He looked at me, I could see the pain in his eyes, his wounds were numerous and blood flowed from them.  “Sorry for scaring you, Miss.  I won’t hurt you.  I -” and with that he collapsed.

I ran to his side and turned him over.  He was heavy and his wounds bled profusely, his face had a cross-shaped scar on his right cheek and his body was drenched in sweat.  I couldn’t just leave him there, he was hurt and unconscious.

Thankfully, I saw a familiar rainbow streak in the skies above me as the morning clouds were being dispersed.  I flew up to a cloud and waited.  I wouldn’t have to wait long.  I only hope that she’ll help me with the cute man… I mean the wounded man on the ground below me.
