King Sombra’s red and green eyes gaze proudly upon his newest creation. It was a stallion, still shrouded in a shadowy cloak of dark magic. Eyes identical to the king’s burn through the swirling shadows. The dull crystal ponies that had been assisting stand frozen in fear.
“Come now, my creation. Reveal your true glory!” King Sombra says with a wide grin. That smile showed nothing but evil.
The stallion shakes off the shadows, revealing an almost perfect mixture of Princess Celestia and her younger sister, Luna. Half of his body was Celestia’s creamy white, and that colour carried over onto the other side of him that was the same sleek, dark blue as Luna’s coat. His mane was deep, shining cobalt with two streaks of sea green and sky blue. It sparkled just a bit, even in the lightless atmosphere of the room.
“W-who am I?” he whispers. His eyes die down to a simple, clear blue. He looks around at the terrified crystal ponies, and then stares at King Sombra.
“Let me show you!” the monarch says. His eyes and horn glow with a glow that seemed to absorb light instead of radiating it. An arc of magic leaps from his horn to that of the confused stallion.
His eyes switch back to poisonous green and gleaming red. A twisted smile spreads across his face and his horn glows red. On his blue flank, a cutie mark matching that of Celestia’s appears. On the other is a crescent moon.
“I know who I am,” he says, “I am Omega.”
King Sombra smiles. “And what is your goal?”
“I am going to kill the princesses.”
The king laughs darkly. “Perfect, my child. You are perfect.”
Shortly after that, Omega set off. He went alone and completely in secret. No one but the ponies who had beheld his making and King Sombra himself even knew of his existence.
However, you all know that the princesses are still alive and well. It is assumed that Omega was released from King Sombra’s power when the Crystal Heart was returned. He is rumored to still roam the ice fields to this day…
Twilight Sparkle closes the book and smiles at Spike. “Those crystal ponies sure do have some good stories, don’t they?”
“They sure do!” the baby dragon says with a yawn. “Hey, what time is it?”
“Time to sleep,” Twilight says. She sets the book down on her nightstand and sinks down into her foreign bed. The covers were unfamiliar, and the pillow felt different from her own. But she was tired. The mare honestly couldn’t care less. As long as it was a bed, she would sleep.
“I can agree with that,” a voice says from the doorway. Shining Armour trots into the room and smiles. He was still in his uniform and looked exhausted from his day of work.
“Liking your stay in the Crystal Kingdom?”
“It’s amazing!” Spike says, ”Best vacation ever!”
“It is a pretty cool place,” Twilight agrees.
Shining Armour smiles. “I’m glad you two like it,” he says, patting his sister on to the head. “I just came in to say goodnight.” He nudges Twilight with his nose. “Nighty, night, Twily.”
“Goodnight,” the purple pony whispers in reply. She closes her eyes. Shining Armour smiles down at her for once last time before trotting out of the room. Spike turns out the light, and then curls up at the foot of the bed.
Both of them drift off to sleep peacefully, but their dreams are chaotic; filled with princess-slayers and black magic.
