The pony slowly opened her eyes, then closed them again. She got up and looked at her surroundings. A forest. A dark forest, and she was deep inside of it.
That was the only thing she knew.
She didn't know who she was, where she lived, her friends, her occupation, her childhood, nothing. she raised a hoof and brought it up to her face to examine it. She had purple fur, but that was all she could get from her physical features without a mirror. She didn't even know what her cuite mark was.
She took a step foward when she heard a slight crumble under her hoof. She looked down to find an envelope. She took the envelope and opened it up.
Inside of the envelope were two things. The first was a picture of what the pony assumed to be herself along with a warrent for her arrest.

TWILIGHT SPARKLE
Known Necromancer wanted for use of the dark arts and for the assasination attempt of the crown princesses, Celestia and Luna. Should you find this pony, do not make contact and alert any guards in the area. A reward of 2,000,000 bits will be given if this pony is turned in to authorities.
My name is Twilight Sparkle. I am a criminal. I am wanted for use in dark magic and I tried to kill the rulers of this land, she recited to herself.
The second thing in the enveloped was just a piece of paper that appeared to have been torn in half. It only had one word on it in big letters:
PONYVILLE.
She stared at the sheet, as if trying to remember a Ponyville. She couldn't. She could only gather two things from the mysterious slip.
Ponyville is a place. And I need to go there.
There was no map inclued in the packet, so she would have to find her way out of wherever she was. Taking one final look at the paper, Twilight Sparkle set out to find an exit.
* * * * * *
It didn't take her as long as she thought it would. It looked like she was deep in the forest, but the trees were so large any sunlight attempting to get through would be blocked. She could have been 5 minutes from the exit and not have known it.
Exiting the forest, she began to think about what exactly happened.
Somepony, or thing, put me in that forest, that much I can gather. But why I lost my memory and my motive for my criminal actions are unknown. Based on the looks of that poster, it wasn't made too long ago, so I don't think I lived a life of crime. Maybe I dabbled a little in magic fields where I shouldn't have, and I went berserk. I would have to be good at magic to be able to get into that area anyways. Maybe I was a magician.
Well, she couldn't ask the townsponies, that's for sure. She had no clothing to hide anything, she couldn't remeber any spells she had perviously learned. She was like an Earth Pony who didn't have strength. In other words, she was useless.
She walked along a path out of the forest when she saw a package on the side of the road. Kneeling down and opening it, she found a black hood that covered her whole body, including her cutie mark.
What is this, some kind of sick game? thought Twilight as she donned the hood and walked on. Now she could at least talk to other ponies and ask for directions. She didn't have any bits, so taking a cab or a pegasi manned carriage flight was out of the question. She would have to walk.
With the hood slung over her mane, shadows covering her eyes, she walked down the path. All the while, she kept trying to remember what happened by guessing what she would have done if she had done it.
I probably found a book of dark magic somewhere. After that, I would have read it and gained an immense increase in power, while at the same time becoming corrupted by the force of power it was giving off. Slowly, I would want to test my limits against an opponent. A powerful one. Assuming these princesses were powerful, I would probably want to see if I could destroy them with my great force that I had held at the time. Based on the word attempt, I can give a pretty good guess that I failed. But that doesn't explain why I can't remember anything, or why someone would give me the starting clues to my past...did I know somepony? Somepony that cared for me very much?
The whole situation made her head hurt. She didn't even know where she was going! She could walk for a thousand miles and she might not see a town, a city, or even an inn. She was trying to find the sun in the sky to see the time of day and what direction she was going when a carriage pulled up beside her and stopped.
"You're along way from anywhere, sweetheart." said a stallion in the carriage. Besides the horses pulling him he was the only other pony associated with the carriage.
"Then you are too." she replied. She took a better look at the stallion.
Icy blue fur, same color as his eyes. His mane is a bright white and his cutie mark is a blueprint.
"I'm an architect. We're building a new village right around here. What are you doing out here?"
"Looking for a village."
"Well, unless you want to wait a few months, your not gonna find one within a few hundred miles of this place."
"Then I walk a few hundred miles from this place and I try to find one."
"Do you need a ride?"
"I have no money."
"No problem. Hop in. I'm headin' for Fillydelphia."
It wasn't Ponyville, but it was still some kind of city, which was good enough. She still had the problem of money and she didn't think transportation services would be as kind as this pony. She hopped in the carriage and they sped down the path.
"You can take off the hood, you know."
"I'd rather not."
The pony shrugged and they rode along the path in silence for a few minutes before the stallion spoke again.
"So, what's your name?" he asked, trying to add some positive energy to the conversation.
Well, it isn't going to be Twilight Sparkle. Hmm...
She looked at her fur and came up with a first name, then thought about her real last name and came up with a fake one.
"Lavender. Lavender Shine." she said. She liked the ring to it, and it would be a good alias for when she wanted to talk to people. She smiled.
"Cool. My name is Stonewall, but ponies call me Igloo because of my mane, fur and eye color. It gets annoying sometimes."
"Those are two completely different names."
"Pick whichever one you want. Anyways, we have a pretty long time until we get to Filly, so I would get some sleep on the ride. You seem pretty tired."
I'm tired, all right. For more than one reason.
"Okay. I can't thank you enough for doing this for me. I still feel as if I have to pay you back somehow."
"Oh, you'll get your chance when we get to Fillydelphia. I got something you could do for me, but for right now you should probably get some shut-eye. If you stay asleep the whole trip I'll wake you up before we get to Filly."
Twilight smiled. She would be in Ponyville before she knew it. Everything would be sorted out. She slowly drifted off to sleep as the carriage made it's way down the dirt path.
