The Royal Friend.

Wait what?

It was a warm sunny day while Twilight prepared for her trip to Canterlot. She ran from corner to corner in her home/workplace gathering everything she might need. She was busy sorting books and journals she filled over the years. Her scaley assistant sat watching as she frantically picked everything up and stuffed them into her saddlebags.

“Twilight, you do realize that this is just a simple meetup. It’s completely casual!” Spike said with a frustrated expression.

“Spike there is nothing casual about meeting the princess!!” Twilight said packing more of her notebooks and quills into her saddlebag. Spike just groaned and went to the coffee table.

“Twilight listen. I am going to read it and show you that it’s nothing to stress out over.” Spike said as he picked up the scroll that Twilight had thrown onto the table before going to get ready.

He cleared his throat before he began to read.

“Dear Twilight Sparkle,
I am writing this to you to request that you come to canterlot for an informal get together. It seems I have only wrote or met up with you whenever danger was around the corner. That is why I want to meet with you this week. I will have a chariot sent to your home at your earliest convenience.
Please write back as soon as you can.

P.S. Please do not fret over this. This is just a relaxing meeting.” Spike finished as he set the scroll down.

“Now do you see, Twilight? It’s just a simple get together.” Spike said with a grin. Twilight put down her journals and sighed.

“I guess you’re right Spike. I just so worked up whenever I go to visit the Princess. This visit will be different though. Like she said. A relaxing visit.” Twilight said as began to empty the saddlebag of most of it’s contents. She kept a journal, quill, and inkpot just incase something interesting comes up. She took a small bag of bits from her hiding spot behind a few old tomes and placed them in the saddlebag.

Spike was wearing a happy smile because Twilight wasn’t freaking out anymore. Plus since she was leaving he could go to rarity’s home again while she was gone.

The chariot arrived and Twilight grabbed her saddlebag. She walked out with Spike and gave him a hug before getting on the chariot. Spike gladly returned the gesture and waved goodbye as she took off. Twilight watched the little dragon dash off for rarity’s after she was a decent height in the air.

She giggled at her assistant's behavior and watched the world roll by lazily. Before long she could see Canterlot in the distance. The smile she was wearing grew even larger as she saw the castle come into view.

The chariot soon landed in front of the castle gates and Twilight stepped off. The gates slowly opened, allowing her to walk freely into the castle. She trotted towards the castle and opened the doors as she got to the doors.

As she walked into the castle, a stallion wearing a butler outfit approached her. “Are you Miss Sparkle?” He said in a posh accent.

“Yes I am.” Twilight replied with a smile. The stallion smiled back and gestured for her to follow.

“Please follow me then! The Princess is waiting for you in the library.” He said walking down the hall.

Twilight followed the pony down the halls admiring the structure of the castle as she walked by and silently commenting on certain thing that caught her eye. They soon found themselves in front of the castles library’s doors. The butler pony gently opened a door and slightly bowed his head.

“The princess is waiting for you in the middle of the library. Have a nice day.” He said as she walked by him. After she entered the door, the stallion quietly closed the doors and she walked down the path of bookshelves and desks. She continued to walk through the library, amazed by the sheer size of it. After about 5 minutes of walking she finally stopped and saw Princess Celestia reading a small scroll.

Twilight grinned happily and run to the Princess. “Princess!” She said a bit louder than necessary.

Celestia looked up from her scroll before rolling it up and smiling to her student. He hid the scroll in her chest plate/necklace and watched as her student ran up to her.

“Twilight! So good to see you!” Celestia said as her student ran up and nuzzled her. She returned the gesture and sighed happily that Twilight had taken her advice to not fret over this meetup. “How are you Twilight?”

“I am doing great Princess! Even better now that I don’t have to worry about anything. How about you?” Twilight asked as she looked up to her mentor.

“I am great my student! Now let’s continue with our day!” Celestia’s said with glee.

Celestia watched as Twilight happily skipped out of the library with a smile that would make pinkie jealous. They continued to walk down the hall until they heard something coming from down the halls. They both turned as the sound became more clear.

“Princess?....Is that clanking?” Twilight said as she stair down the hall. Celestia’s expression immediately became worried and stressed as the sound neared.

“Twilight get behind me!!” She yelled bringing her student to her side and wrapping her wing around her. The clanking became even louder as it neared the corner. Twilight peeked over her mentor’s wing as the owner of the noise finally rounded the corner.

Twilight couldn’t believe her eyes as she saw a large creature that ran on two legs coming straight for them. It had the bodily structure of a diamond dog, but it’s legs were bending in the wrong direction. The creature began to slow down as it near them and Twilight got a better look at it.

It was a light tan color. Almost like a peach. It had two long arms and a five clawed paw. It’s body, however, was almost completely hairless except for the mane on it’s head. The fur it was missing was compensated by a simple white silk shirt for it’s upper half and a set of blue pants made from denim. She only got a glimpse of his feet, but she saw that they were covered in some metallic shoe.

“Tia!! Your sister is crazy and trying to kill me! Help me out here!!” It shouted to tia with a what she could only describe as panicked on it’s face. It kept looking down the hall until it spastically looked from Celestia to the hall and began to run down the hall. “I WILL MEET YOU AT DINNER TIA!!!”

Twilight watched as the creature ran down the hall screaming bloody murder. The clincher was when Princess Luna ran by holding some strange device in her magic. It was about 10 hoofs (5 feet) long and had a faint smell of explosive powder as she ran by.

The two of the mares watched as the clanking receded into the distance. Twilight was finally let go from Celestia’s wing’s grasp and placed a few hoofs away from her. She quietly turned to the Princess and put on a confused/slightly worried expression.

“Um....Princess? May I ask what that was?” She said pointing to the hallway the creature had run through. Celestia just shook her head and rubbed the side of her head with her right hoof.

“That.....Was the reason I wanted today off to relax.”
