Doctor Who: Return to Earth
Chapter 3
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"Doctor," Twilight starts.
"Hm?"
"We're going after a murderer. A mad murderer."
"Yes, yes we are."
"And yet all we have is three humans, an alien, a blue box and a metal rod you call a Screwdriver." Twilight says, and walks towards the doors of the TARDIS.
"H-Hey!! Don't insult my Screwdriver!" The Doctor says, walking after Twilight with Derpy and Spike following behind him. When they walk out, they find that the body has already been taken to wherever the police took it. "Okay... One murder down... four to go. Let's get back to the TARDIS..."
The Doctor turns and heads to the TARDIS with his companions not far behind him. "Spike, look into the memories of Jack's murders. When did the last one take place?" The Doctor asks the humanized Dragon, Spike closes his eyes as he enters the TARDIS and concentrates.
Jack the Ripper...
Murder...
Sliced open...
Gutted...
Unholy...
Ripper....
Phantom...
Demon...
Jack... The Ripper...
Spike awakes with a gasp and finds himself on the floor of the TARDIS, his friends surrounded him, all with worried looks on their faces, except for the Doctor, who was over at the controls of the TARDIS, looking for something. "D-Doctor?! What happened?!" Spike asks.
"You collapsed, Spike. I thought that was obvious. Aha! There it is!" The Doctor says and pulls out his Sonic Screwdriver, which had apparently been lost. "I dropped it when you collapsed. You startled me, Spike. You had me worried. Now, anyway, what went wrong?" The Doctor says as he scans the small kid.
"You're fine, just some backlash from the memories. Now, what time was the last murder?"
Spike thinks, and then replies.
"About 6 A.M. on Saturday 8th of September 1888 near a doorway... In the backyard of 29 Hanbury Street." Spitalfields." Spike says, bringing a hand up to his head. The memory backlash had given him a headache. The Doctor gets to the controls, with Derpy helping him out.
The engines whir, and when they stop, The Doctor looks outside to find the TARDIS in a backyard, with no one around, except for a young woman, who was lying on the ground. "Is she okay?!" Spike asks with noticeable concern. The Doctor doesn't answer, and walks up to her.
The Doctor closes his eyes at the sight before him. A dark brunette, light skin, with her throat cut and torso mutilated. Her night gown was drenched with blood, as was the area around her. If she wasn't in this state, the Doctor would have gone as far to say she was quite beautiful.
"No, Spike. She is certainly not okay. She's the final victim. Now, we go to the police. Derpy, get into the TARDIS and cloak it, second button, third row. Spike, you and Twilight head to the police, report a body. I'll stay here and remain unnoticed."
A body was found in a backyard, 29 Hanbury Street. She was identified as Mary Jane Kelly. The woman was aged 25 at time of death. Cause being determined.
Investigator Frederick Abberline.
"Now, what Doctor?" Twilight asks as they walk around the streets of Whitechapel.
"We look for Jack. Granted, we'll probably fail, but it's worth a shot, right?" The Doctor says, and turns a corner to a man in a black coat brush past the Doctor's shoulder, and rush off. "Oi! You could say 'excuse me!'" The Doctor scolds as the man walks off.
"The human race gets rather rude at times, doesn't it?" The Doctor says as they continue to walk. They stopped at a small restaurant down the street to get something to eat, though they didn't have any money. The Doctor just walked to the nearest bank and used the Physic Paper to pose as a person who had an account there, and took about a hundred dollars from them.
After they ate, they set out for the killer. "I've been involved in murder plots before, and the killer usually sticks around the crime scene for a little, to spy on their handy work. If Jack is one of those criminals, then we could find him." The Doctor states as they head back to Mary Jane Kelly's death place.
Once there, the four spread out to look for anyone suspicious.
Twilight was walking along the left side of the house, when she did spot someone. She approached him, but ran off. "Hey! Stop!" She yells, and runs after him. He runs through an alley way, and Parkour's up a nearby building, jumping off window sills and swinging off of pipes. Twilight tries to do the same, and nearly falls to her death a few times, but manages to get up, just in time to see the man jump off.
"No! Get back here!" She yells and runs over to the edge, and without thinking, jumps off. She lands safely in a pile of trash, but doesn't see the man.
"Rats..." She says, and prepares to walk back to the Doctor, but is grabbed around her waist, and is gagged with a peice of cloth, and all of the sudden, is draped over the man's shoulder.
Twilight tries to yell "Let me Go!" but it comes out as a muffled tone.
The man chuckles. "Sorry, little lady, but you're mine, now..."
The only response Twilight has is a muffled scream: "Doctor!!"
