The Gift Of Luna

Out Of The Cold

Previous Chapter

"Princess Luna!" I exclaimed in utter disbelief.

She gave me a confused look. I knew she was probably wondering how I knew her name.

"How long have you been out here?" I asked her softly.

Before she could answer me, I took off my jacket and quickly covered her with it. It wasn't the warmest jacket in the world, but it would do for the time being.

"We c-c-c-can not remember." Luna replied, still shivering from the cold.

I couldn't leave her like this. If I did she would surely not last too much longer out here.

"We need to get you someplace warm." I said as I began hoisting her up from the ground.

She was heavy to carry, but I had lifted heavier things before.

"P-p-please hurry" Luna said in a whisper. "We c-c-can not feel our hooves."

I ran as fast as I could towards my apartment building. It wasn't easy with an almost full sized alicorn in my arms, but I kept pressing forward. I wasn't about to give up on the Princess.

We reached my apatment building a few moments later. I sat Luna down on the porch as I grabbed the handle to the front door and opened it. I made sure that she was well covered under the jacket before taking her inside.

"What's that you got there?" my landlord, Mr. Gluck, asked me when I ran into him on my way to my room upstairs.

"Christmas present for my Mom" I lied. "She likes stuffed animals."

Mr. Gluck laughed. "Your gonna need quite a big box to wrap that thing up."

As he walked away, I sat Luna down again on the hallway floor so I could unlock the door to my room. Once we were safe inside, I quickly locked the door, and sat Luna down on the near by couch.  I then sprinted to my bedroom to gather up as many blankets I could find.

I returned about a minute later, with several different kinds of blankets in my hands. I began wrapping them around the shivering blue mare. No sooner than I had placed the blankets upon her, Luna closed her tired eyes and drifted off to sleep, her head resting on the arm of the couch.

I let out a sigh of relief as I reclined on the arm chair next to the couch. I didn't want to leave the room just in case Luna needed me.

I didn't sleep all too well that night. There were so many questions I had circling around in my head that I needed answered. It would just have to wait until the morning. Hopefully Luna would be well enough to answer my questions for me.
