After defeating Cross on the aircraft carrier, Alex had to take the nuclear bomb to a safe distance from Manhattan. Luckily he had consumed enough pilots to know how to fly a helicopter. He attached the nuclear bomb to the bottom of the copter and started her up. He then flew out into the ocean hoping it wouldn't harm the city from there. The bomb was dropped into the ocean's waters and he flew back towards Manhattan as fast as the helicopter would take him. He was fairly sure he would survive the blast, but the slight doubt in his mind gave him a sense of fear.

Suddenly a massive light followed by a ear piercing bang was heard. The shock wave reached the helicopter along with a massive amount of fire. The helicopter was thrown like a rag doll before suddenly exploding. Most of Alex's body was shredded in the explosion. His head, one arm, and half of his stomach remained as he fell towards the ocean. The pain was indescribable other than feeling like your burning alive.

As he came closer to the water he looked over to where the bomb had detonated and saw a bright light stretching out from the core of the explosion in all directions. It looked like a tear in the air above the water. It stretched under Alex and further out towards Manhattan before stopping. Alex couldn't avoid falling into the brightness. Once he entered, he saw more colors than he thought was possible. They were all around him constantly changing at a quick pace and moving in all directions. He looked up and saw the hole he come in through closing. It wasn't long before he closed his eyes and passed out as the pain overwhelmed him, unable to comprehend what had just happened.
