The Escape and The Office

Fable stood there leaning his back against a pole. It had been thirty minutes, the sun barely rising. He was running out of time and the Captain was taking her sweet, sweet time counting her gold. After a while Fable had had enough; he decided to go see what was the hold up. When he entered the tavern though, there was no one around except for the bartender who was desperately trying not to make eye contact with Fable, something Fable took notice of as he trotted over to the bartender, sitting himself in a barstool right in front of him. The bartender's eyes were darting from side to side, desperately trying finding a way to escape Fable's piercing stare. The helmet Fable wore was also boring into the bartender's gaze for minutes on end.

The tension seemed to be too much for the fellow. He then finally spoke up. "C-can I get you anything?" He stuttered. Fable slammed his fist on the counter top authoritatively.

"WHERE IS THE GIRL?" Fable demanded. He could her the clammer of footsteps outside, but he ignored it for now; he needed that crucial information. The bartender was cracking at this point. He desperately brought out a sword only to have it swiftly knocked out of his hand, a loud CLANK coming from the dropped weapon. Fable grabbed the collar of the bartender's shirt and dragged him over the counter top, then shoved him against the nearest wall. "WHERE IS SHE?" Fable bellowed.

Unfortunately as the bartender was just about to answer, an arrow penetrated straight through his right eye, the projectile now planted firmly into the wall. The Bartender was nothing more than an ornament on the wall at this point. Fable quickly pivoted around and saw the would-be assailant: a scrawny villager, struggling to reload her crossbow. She wouldn't get the chance, however, for Fable casted Assassin's Rush, a spell which propels the user through time and space in the blink of an eye, right behind the unfortunate foe instantaneously.

Once the gap between them closed, Fable the back of her head, arcs of pure electricity leaping from his fingertips and surrounding the villager's body. Typically at a close distance, this spell would basically be melting the skin off and imploding any organs, leaving just the skeleton intact. As he watched the skeleton fall down, bones cracking against the floor, he heard a muffled cry for help from upstairs. Fable ascended each flight, reaching the upstairs room as two swords flashed in front of him. Three captives looked to be tied up on the ground, two with cloth gags stuffed in their mouths, the other laying down on the ground in a pool of his own blood.

Both sword-wielders gazed upon Fable, one of the thugs stepping back, his sword now pressed against the throat of one of the captives. This didn't stir Fable one bit for he casted the Slow Time spell, affecting the very fabric of time itself; slowing everything around him to a crawl while leaving the caster immune. Sparks of electricity zapped from his fingertips again, arching to both of the captors, leaving only more skeletons on the ground.

After he undid the effects of the spell, he went over to the captives and untied them both. Captain Alendia seemed pleased to finally be no longer tied up like a greased up boar ready to be cooked and back to the free pirate she has always been.

Back on her feet, Alendia went over to a nearby table and gathered her two pistols with blades attached, a cutlass, and a bag of gold. The other captive went to the same table and grabbed a rifle and two cutlasses. Captain Alendia grabs another pistol and tosses it to Fable while saying, "Here, take my second mate's gun. He won't be needing it anymore." Fable caught it and examined it closely.

Once he was done examining it, he proceeded back down the stairs, the other two following his lead. They were then greeted by guards, bounty hunters, and various villagers toting weapons. One particular guard stepped forward and commanded, “Alright, you three are under arrest! Surrender now or prepare to die." He didn't live long as Captain Alendia brought out her pistol and shot his face off. Everyone's eyes were on her now, the pirate merely grinning at the expense of the guard.

All hell broke loose, arrows flying in their direction. The hero Fable casted a Physical Shield, surrounding him with a protective sphere of energy that will absorb any blow, but only for a limited amount of time. He guarded his partners in battle and protected them from the oncoming arrows.

Once the arrows had stopped firing, Captain Alendia, her crew mate, and Fable all begun firing their guns at the mob before them, raining bullets on their bitch-asses. With barrels smokin' hot, they saw the carnage before them: bodies lying everywhere, covered in holes with blood everywhere. As they stepped over the bodies, they could definitely see another huge mob forming outside as they peered out a window. Arrows lit on fire were then fired into the tavern, daring to burn the establishment down.

Fable and his pirate companions ran outside to be greeted with the mob. Fable summoned Ghost Swords, four ethereal blades from the netherworld that do battle on behalf of the caster. The ethereal blades immediately began fending off the mob as quickly as they appeared, providing the perfect distraction for Fable, Captain Alendia, and her crew-mate as they headed towards a lifeboat. Some stragglers followed the trio, only to meet their end with Captain Alendia's bullets. The three then reached the life boat, cutting loose the ropes securing it as they felt the wooden boat make a mighty splash as it hit the water. Paddling away to the ship, arrows continued to fly at them, Alendia taking her crew-mate's rifle and returning fire.

Eventually the mob ceased fire, for their arrows could no longer reach them. Captain Alendia took one final shot with the rifle, just for kicks, then sat down in the life boat and waited for her two rowers to take her back to her ship. After twenty minutes had passed, they had reached Alendia's ship, climbing aboard and being greeted by the first mate and crew.

"Mom! Are you alright?" The first mate quickly asked with worry. Captain Alendia narrowed her eyes on her daughter and grabbed her hat, smacking her upside the head with said hat.

"What did I tell you about calling me that on my ship? Now our guest knows who else will be joining us for dinner. And what are you doing wearing my hat, anyway? You're not the Captain of this ship." Her daughter stared at her with a tear in her eyes and weepingly said, "I'm sorry mom...I just thought something bad happened to you."

Alendia then just looked at her daughter and sighed. "Come here..." She said with open arms. Her daughter complied and they both hugged. "I'm sorry I worried you, Raylyn. Now, let's address our guest." They both turned to Fable, Alendia leaning an elbow on her daughter's shoulder as she welcomed him: "Welcome to my ship! I call her The Reaver. We hope that you will join us for dinner."

Fable sighed and took off his helmet. "I guess I will."

In a lighted room in Canterlot, a girl with greyscale hair and a slight tan was sitting in a chair wearing a safari outfit and a pith helmet on her head. Her feet were perched up on a desk and she was snoring lightly; it was eight in the morning and Daring Do hadn't gotten enough sleep last night. To make matters worse, Fancypants, her employer/sponsor, had called her in earlier to give her another assignment. The only door to his office opened and Fancypants came strolling in with his signature suit and tie, matching his light azure hair and mustache along with a monocle and an annoyed look on his face. He waltzed over to the desk and sat down in the recliner and spoke.

"Daring, I know you didn't get any sleep last night, but could you please get your feet off my desk?" Daring didn't answer. "Daring?" He asked again still receiving no reply. "Daring, can you wake up please?" He nearly spat out. She didn't wake up. "Daring..." He barked louder. "DARING!!" He bellowed. Daring Do then awoke with a gasp and took her feet off of his desk, then stretched out in her chair. She took her pith helmet off and used one of her hands to rub her eyes.

"Yea?" She said finally answering him with a groan.

Fancypants then quietly composed himself and spoke. "Now that you are awake I suppose you will want the details of the newest artifact."

"Yea, sure, whatever."

Fancypants sighed and opened a drawer and took out a folder. He then handed the folder to Daring as she read the name of the artifact. "Mask of Blades..." She gave a curious look to Fancypants who then went on to brief the explorer:

"As you can see the artifact is a mask. It is said to be from a land called Albion. Not much is known about this 'Albion' as no one has found said continent before. It might not even exist for all we know, but what we do know is this mask was worn by an advisor of Nightmare Moon herself. It's said that he disappeared when she was banished." Daring opened the folder and looked over some of the notes. She saw a picture and raised an eyebrow at it.

Fancypants continued on. "You will be going to an old island fortress that is near the Bermane Triangle. Find the artifact and comeback before the storm hits." Daring shot her head up from the folder with wide eyes staring at Fancypants.

"Are you crazy?!” She then yelled. “The Bermane Triangle is the first dangerous natural phenomenon in the world. Even more dangerous than the Everfree Forest. And you want me to go to a island that will get gulped up by it?" Daring Do was furious as she slammed the folder onto his desk and had her hands on it staring at Fancypants incredulously.

Fancypants kept a calm demeanor and he replied, "I'm sure you will be off the island before the Bermane Triangle hits, but if you can't get out in time we have a teleportation scroll that will transport you back to the airship. That way you and your assistant will be safe."

Daring slumped back into her chair and looked at the ceiling. After a moment she turned her head back to Fancypants. "Alright, I guess I'll go get this mask," She said as she got up from her seat and proceeded to head out.

"Daring?" Fancypants called out to her, watching her turn around.

"Be careful out there."

She simply smiled and said, "Be back before you know it!" And proceeded out the door.
