Purple Vampire

It was night, streets were empty, the air was comfortably cool...everything you want to feel after coming back from the Canterlot spa with your best friends. So Twilight had sparked conversation, and now the six of them were each chattering away down the road of the Canterlot streets. The sidewalk was too small for the six, so they walked along the empty road.

"...So as you can see, there isn't enough space to fit a whole city into Canterlot. That's why Celestia used her magic to make it bigger on the inside, and stay smaller on the outside. She got the idea from this stallion who appeared in a blue box.", Twiligth finished.

"Oh, so that's how come this city seems so big...yet, when ah see it fromt eh outside, it's so small, and looks as if it could only fit a small village in it."

"Yup. With that mysterious stallion's help, she even made it to where it would never harm the fabricate of reality, space, or time."

"Golly Twilight, you're really smart! Like a smart smart smarty pants that's really really smart!", Pinkie Pie jumped with glee.

The group of mares laughed at her comment and Pinkie stopped.

"Pinkie Pie, what's wrong?", Rainbow Dash asked.

She was silent.

"Pinkie Pie, is it your Pinkie sense?!", Rainbow dash asked.

"It defintiely is but it's a new one..."

"You're usually screaming out what it feels like, how about this one?"

"It...feels dangerous. Like when your stuck in a cage with an angry manticore that hasn't eben fed for a week. I know, I've done it."

"Wait...what?"

"Oooh! floppy ear! Somepony is watching us from above!"

Teh six huddled closer and watched the roof tops, finding only shadows. when one moved, Rainbow Dash pointed at teh rooftop where it was.

"There...", she whispered to Twilight.

Twilight cast a light spell towards the top of the house, and it only illuminated shingles and a tiny gargoyle hooked up to an irrigation system. A pigeon hopped over the top and walked around, occasionally sparing a glance at the six mares.

"Somepony watching us?", Twilight began, "More like a pigeon!"

"Uh-uh. Nope. When my ear flops, it's only when a pony is watching us, and with evil content!"

"Evil content? Pinkie it's just a pigeon."

Twilight turned back down the road, and began walking again.

"Come on girls, we've got a better weapon than anything."

"What would that be?", Pinkie Pie asked.

"Your Pinkie sense of coruse!"

"Ooooooohhh!", Pinkie realized.

"Now let's go. The Princess shouldn't have to wait for us to get back."

Twilight and her friends began walkign once mroe, but they didn't talk, and all even quieted their footsteps.

"Twilight, I'm kinda worried...", Rainbow Dash admitted in a whisper.

"I know what you mean. I can't help but think that Pinkie's right. I mean, it's ehr pinkie sense...Plus I actually feel like I'm being watched...", Twilight whispered back.

A black figure ran across the road ahead, and Twilight reacted quickly, casting a light spell jsut as the pony passed behind the building.

"...Come on girls, let's see who this is.", Twilight said quietly.

As the six approached the building, Twilight snuffed out the light and peaked around the corner with a Help-See spell, seeing anything fifty times brighter than it would be.

"It's a long road with high walls on both sides, and nothing to climb on, not even a way to get behind or up the side of this building.", Twiligth informed, "He couldn't have gotten to the other side in time..."

"Maybe he's a pegasus?", Rainbow Dash subjected.

"Maybe, but I saw him, he didn't have wings, or a horn."

Fluttershy hurried behind twiligth, and cowered, wheezing audibly as she pointed behind them.

The same pony stood not but a few meters away. He charged at them all, hissing loudly as he approached.

Each of the six mares screamed and took off down the road, stopping in the middle. Teh moon was high, nopony was following them, and on the other side, the castle cast a black shadow over the roads.

"Stay near me, I'll cast a shield spell!"

Twilight's friends huddled near her and she put her magic to work. All those hours that her brother spent training her in defensive magic, now was the best time to sue that knowledge.

Her horn glowed brightly, and jsut like her brother had done to protect canterlot, she let off a beam above herself, creating a similar, albeit smaller, shield to cover ehr and her friends. She huffed tiredly and relaxed.

"We should be safe here until mornign comes. So long as you don't leave."

"Until morning?! But that's hours from now!", Raibnow Dash said.

"Well, you're right, but...ah don't think that was a pony...", Applejack spoke up.

"What do you mean?", Twilight asked.

"Well. Ah don't remember ponies havin' long, needle sharp fangs, or bat wings."

"A changeling? But they take the form of ponies, and you said he had bat wings.", Twilight said.

"So...what is he, then?", Fluttershy asked quietly.

"I...I have an idea...But if it's true, this shield won't hodl against him!", Twilight admitted.

Not a moment later said fanged pony dropped on top of the shield, cracking the top of it heavily.

"When he breaks the shield, scatter! I can protect one of us at a time. As long as we head for the castle,we should soon be safe!", Twilight commanded.

The pony reared up and stomped his forehooves against the shield, shattering it. Each of the six mares ran off, except for Twilight, who backed away, eyeing the pony.

"Don't let him get you! One bite, and he'll drain you dry! He's a vampire!", Twiligth warned.

Teh vamprie pony turned to her,a nd lunged, only for Twilgith to raise a shield around her in time to save herself. The vampire hissed and went towards Applejack, another vampire dropping in to join the hunt.

Twilight mvoed her shield to encompass applejack, and the two vampries circled the orange pony.

Both stopped, the said something to each other, and both went for Twiligth. The shield moved to ehr again, and one broke off, heading for the cowering Fluttershy. She eeped tehn huddled where she was.

Twilight planned a quick move in her head, and she jumped from the protection of ehr own shield, encompassing the manilla mare with the spell, trying to make a break for the safety of the bubble. Not even five seconds alter, the two vampires were on her.

One bit her leg, and she tripped, crippled for the moment. As she tried to get up, the second bit into her neck, and she let a small, startled yelp, falling silent as the vampire bit harder on her throat.

"NO!!!", Rainbow Dash screamed.

The cyan pegasus took off the quickest she ever did, slamming into the vamprie that had Twilight, and it flew a few feet, hitting the wall. As the other vamprie lunged, a giant blue guillotine blade slammed into the road just before it, a certain angry whtie unicorn appearing in front of it.

Her eyes aglow, she wrapepd the unharmed vampire in a long coil of magic rope, slammign it into the wall, leaving cracks from side to side of the roadside artwork. Teh two vampries slowly got back up and limped for a few seconds befor etaking off into teh nigth sky, leaving the mares.

Rarity slowly calmed down, breathing through her teeth as the remnants of her magic shift ended. Her eyes turned to their generous blue, and she gasped, turnign to the fallen unicorn.

"Twilight...", she mouthed, hurrying to her.

Taking the injured mare into her own hooves, she hoisted Twiligth over her shoulders, and galloped towards the castle, the remaining four mares in tow.

Twilight...please...please don't die...

As the guards noticed them, they took Twiligth themselves, and carried her to Celestia's personal doctor. As each found out, Celestia had seen the whole thing, and even watched as Twilgith was attacked.

Nopony said a word, but everypony was in high hopes that Twilight would be fine...
