Unforeseen Consequences

Arrival

Golden Quill was a wealthy pony. She was making huge bits on her book and characters. Her set of wheels, however, was not the BMW concept car everypony liked to drive. It was a classic ponycar: a Mustang, to be precise. She was forty-five years old, but still looked astonishing.

Now she was heading towards The fabulous Los Pegasus. This was a crazy decision, but she really needed a change of scenery in order to keep on writing. She was a kind of couch potato pony, but she needed to catch some fresh air after two years of life in the house. Despite her inactive lifestyle, she was still eye candy, or at least she thought so. When she was ‘in the zone’, she could write stories for days straight without bothering herself with walks and even raising her backside from a chair, that`s why one room of her house was a personal gym.

The writer was a unicorn, light amber one, with black mane, just like her character. The only difference was their race - Quill thought it would be more appropriate for athletic and adventurous playgirl to be a pegasus. And of course they had different cutie marks. Daring Do had a golden compass on her flank, when Golden Quill had a golden quill. Right now Quill was wearing a red checkered shirt. She thought she looked better in it - all ponies tend to look hotter and sexier when they`re wearing something, rather than naked.

Why was she heading to Sin City? She wanted to get some inspiration. Daring Do had already been in rainy rainforests, cloudy cloudforests, swampy swampforests, icy tundras and dry deserts. Now it was time for her to rock the city. Concrete jungles can be just as dangerous as usual ones. Golden Quill was sure that readers would love a new part of Daring Do`s adventures.

Two hours later, she finally saw a sign saying 'Welcome to the fabulous Los Pegasus, San Palomino Desert'. Oh boy, was she happy to see it. She was famished and tired, and her car could use some gas. Not that she didn`t have spare cans of gas, but it would take extra time to refill the tank and it was too hot to spend any time outside.

Los Pegasus, despite its name, was not a city in the sky like Cloudsdale. Originally it was designed for all sorts of creatures to enter, so pegasi and earth ponies worked in tandem to erect such a beautiful metropolis. It was a place where everyone, no matter who he was, could have fun and drinks, or even something stronger. This city was popular among all sorts of ponies, griffons and even more or less civilised buffalos. Yes, this was a perfect place for Quill to chill.

When she entered the city, she was immediately surrounded by motor inns, cheap diners and one-star hotels of all sort. The outskirts of the city were made for those who lived here. But of course, Los Pegasus is not a city where you can just settle. No, it`s a Sin City; the place where you can do pretty much anything you please, as long as you have bits. Quill had bits.
She passed the 'living' area of city and entered 'relatively cheap' Los Pegasus. There were some low-class casinos, three-star hotels and, what she really wanted to see: a gas station. Five minutes later - and she would have to refuel her car in the middle of the road.

Soon after refueling, she entered the biggest part of city - 'typical' Los Pegasus. Four-star hotels, casinos of all sorts, bookmakers, 'one-night-fillies', banks, restaurants and car rentals. But this place was not her destination. No, a famous pony like her would never end up there. She was heading to the heart of city, 'The Elite' Los Pegasus. She had enough money to be there. Skyscrapers and huge towers, clubs with world-famous musicians, fake pyramids and liberty statues, and, most of all, enormous fun!

After Quill stopped near the posh entrance and climbed out of car, a pony in red appeared by her side. She hoofed him keys and before she knew it, her car was on its way to underground parking lot. She entered the luxurious hall, levitating her things with her. Reproductions of famous paintings in golden frames were hanging on the walls, golden chandeliers were hanging down from high ceiling, red carpets ornamented with golden patterns. This place was shouting 'Hey, you really gotta have enough money to be here!'

"May I help you, Ms. Quill?" A manager in red and golden jacket offered. Hm, he knew her name. Oh, right, everypony knew her name, how could she forget that?

"Yes, you may." She smiled. "I need a penthouse room with Internet access and don`t let anyone disturb me, please."

"We have some high-class suites available, yes." He nodded.

"Very well, Ms. Quill. Please follow me to the desk, I`ll give you keys." He waved his hoof to one of the earth stallions in red uniform. He rushed at Quill and took her luggage.

"Thank you kindly." She smiled to him and he nodded.

“Floor ninety eight, suite number twenty." The manager ordered. The stallion immediately dispatched.

They approached a big desk, where documents were already prepared.

"Fill in the form and you`re good to stay here," The manager said.

She took a pen in her telekinetic grasp and started writing.

"Here are your keys, Ms. Quill. As I said, floor ninety eight, suite twenty. Enjoy your stay!" He smiled politely.

"Thanks. I will." Quill replied and entered the elevator.

The porter was already waiting for her near the door. She opened it and allowed him in.

"Just drop it here somewhere, I`ll sort it out later." She told him. He obeyed and turned towards the door. "Wait." She opened her saddlebag and levitated an above-average bunch of bits to him. "I appreciate your help."

"Thanks, ma-am." He smiled. His voice was low and hoarse.

After she was left alone, she finally had time to admire her suite. It was gorgeous and very modern. In the living room there were two white leather sofas, two armchairs, a fireplace and a PC. The whole southern wall was a huge window. This skyscraper was the biggest in this part of city, the view was fantastic. Cars were moving on the street like little bugs, and ponies were even smaller. Quill loved this place. She was really glad she finally got to somewhere that wasn`t a store across the street from her place.

Despite all her wealth, she lived a simple life in simple apartment on the edge of Canterlot, had only one car, didn`t go to any major events, all in all, she lived like a regular lazy bum. All she did was working hard on her books and this work was a pleasure to her. It drained a lot of energy, but she felt really good after difficult chapter was finally done. It remained like that for some years, until a week ago, when she ran out of inspiration. That was the main reason she was here in Las Pegasus.

Her attention was attracted by a fast white sportcar with blue stripes moving down the street. She wiped her eyes with a forehoof, but the vision did not evaporate. It was clearly a sportcar, considering its speed and it was clearly white with blue stripes. This paintjob was a sign of one certain DJ, whose performances Golden Quill loved and would never miss if she had an opportunity. Well, the said opportunity had just presented itself

The car pulled up near a club which was not so far from the hotel. Yes, her eyes weren`t failing Golden Quill. This set of wheels belonged to Vinyl Scratch, aka DJ-P0N3. Quill grabbed one of her credit cards and went towards the elevator.

Tonight was gonna be fun and this writer wasn`t going to miss it.
