Applejack sighed, then lazily bucked an apple tree. She listlessly picked up the few apples that fell, frequently pausing to stare morosely at the horizon. Her somber expression wasn't reflected in the wonderful sunny day around her, and she paid no heed to the beauty around her.
"Somethin' wrong, Applejack?"
"Woah huh!?" Applejack snapped to awareness, then swung her head this way and that before finally turning around. "Oh, hey there Big Macintosh, what's shakin?"" Applejack said, trying to be causal.
"You've been out of it lately, but applebuckin' usually got your mind off of whatever's bothering you. What's going on?"
"It's..." Applejack lowered her head and turned away from Big Mac. "It's nothin', alright?"
"It can't be nothin' if it's making you bad at applebuckin'," responded Big Mac.
"Oh alright, shucks, you win," Applejack said, facing her brother once again. She sat down in front of the apple tree to get out of the late morning sun, and looked up at the leaves gently rusting in the breeze.
Big Mac merely raised an eyebrow. "Well?"
Applejack blushed. "It's not the easiest thing to just talk to somepony about." She tipped her hat to hide her face.
Big Mac sighed and sat down next to her. "I'm not somepony, though, I'm your brother. You can tell me anythin', and I can keep it a secret, carry it to my grave."
Applejack's eyes lightened up. "Really?"
"Ee-yup."
"Well..." Applejack blushed again. "I... I'm... I'm an alien invader from the planet Tralfamadore."
Big Mac jumped a little. "Ee-what?!"
Applejack doubled over laughing. "Heeeeehahahahahahaha! Sorry, sorry, I just had to! Hehehe! You don't get chances like this very often! Hahaha! Whoo!" She spent a moment catching her breath before sitting back up. "Sorry, I had to do somethin' to make myself feel better. You swear to tell nopony?"
Big Mac crossed his front legs. "I already told you I would, and no jokes this time or I'm tellin' Granny."
"Oh, alright." Applejack felt her blush getting harder. "It's..." She noiselessly moved her mouth before finally forcing the words out "I-I think I'm in llllllllove with somep-pony," She finally stammered out.
"Oh, um, my." It was Big Mac's turn to stutter. "Yeah I can see that being a little distractin', but how'd it get this bad?"
Applejack shook her beet-red head. "It's not just anypony, is the problem. I'm in love with..." She couldn't force the words out this time.
"With who?" Big Mac asked, concerned. His sister needed to get it off her chest, and by how she was trembling and sweating, it had to be soon.
"W-wi-with F-f-f," she kept stammering.
"F?" Big Macintosh was certain Applejack was about to explode.
"It's Ffffffffff, Fffffffffffffffff-" Applejack was straining herself.
Big Macintosh hoped Apple Bloom wasn't around, as he feared their sister was about to make sailors blush.
"FLUTTERSHY!" She clasped her hooves over her mouth, but too late. Chromatic studies could use Applejack's face as a reference point for pure red.
Big Mac raised his eyebrow again, with a quizzical expression. "Huh?"
"Don't make me say it again! Please!" Applejack pleaded.
Big Mac frowned. "I heard ya, I just don't know why you're beatin' yourself up instead of just tellin' her."
Applejack looked up at her brother with tears in her eyes. "It's Fluttershy! There's a pretty big chance if I tell her she'll just meep, fly off, and never look me in the eye again! Not only will I lose my chance with the pony I love, but I won't even get to be her friend!"
"You really think Fluttershy would do that?" Big Mac smiled gently. "You're one of her best friends. I imagine it'd be awkward for a while but you'd both get over it."
"Yeah," Applejack said as she shot her eyes down. "I gess you're right."
"Ah ah ah," Big Mac chided. "You're assumin' she'll say no. She might just say yes. You don't know, she might feel the same about you but just be too shy to say."
"Huh, really?" Applejack looked back up. "I guess I have been thinkin' it could only go bad. If nothin' else, I have to get this through or I'll just get worse and worse. Thanks Big Macintosh, you're a big help."
Big Mac chuckled at the pun. "No problem, sister. I'll handle these trees for you, so you give it your all for Fluttershy."
"Well, alright then! See you later, special somepony or no!" Applejack said as she galloped off.
"Did she really use an onomatopoeia as a verb? What a silly pony..." Big Mac muttered has he got ready to buck trees.
Fluttershy poked around her cottage, checking up on all the assorted critters therein. Mr. Mousey got a sprain, Hummingway was hoarse, and Angel wasn't a snide jerk and thus probably really sick. Taking care of those and so many other problems had taken her morning. She had finally found enough time to make herself lunch when she heard a knock on her door.
"Who is it?" she said cheerfully. Not often she got random guests. When there was no answer, she got curious. She tentatively approached the door and slowly opened it, peeking around the corner.
In front of her stood a furiously blushing, sweating, shivering pony that looked ready to fall over.
"Oh my goodness, Applejack!" Fluttershy exclaimed to the quivering mess. "You're a wreck! Are you sick? You look sick! Come in, I'll get you some nice warm soup!" Fluttershy turned around and almost flew into the kitchen before Applejack spoke up.
"F-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-fffffffffffffluttershyyyyy..." Applejack barely said. All the pep talks in the world could never have prepared her for the moment of truth.
"Um... yes?" Fluttershy said, wondering if she should bother to wait for Applejack to finish speaking before dragging her to get some rest.
"I... I l... I lllll... I I I lll..." Applejack stammered and stuttered and Fluttershy was certain she heard a sputter. The butterpony just waited, staring intensely, hoping that Applejack wasn't about to croak right there. Fluttershy thought... dearly... of her framer friend, after all, and would hate to see her expire in such a miserable state.
"I... Yhsrettulf uoy evol I!" Applejack said, before smacking herself in the face. "Consarnit it ain't comin' out!"
"Applejack, are you trying to tell me you're dying of the plague, or that you're an alien invader?" Fluttershy's concern was wearing thin.
"No, sugarcube, I'm tryin' to tell you I love you!" She clasped her hooves over her mouth, but too late. Applejack's cheeks blushed so hard her legs gave out from under her from a lack of blood. Fluttershy's mouth hung agape, as her eyes narrowed to pinpoints. Her own cheeks blushed, somehow as hard as Applejack's. The farmer pony was certain this was a sign that everything was over and that she had made a terrible mistake.
Fluttershy, closing her mouth yet keeping the rest of her expression, reached out and lowered Applejack's hooves, leaving Applejack's mouth hanging open. Applejack didn't know what to expect, and her mind ran over several thousand possibilities, from Fluttershy simply flying away to Fluttershy barring herself in her house for a few weeks. She expected everything to go horribly, horribly wrong.
She didn't expect what Fluttershy actually did.
Fluttershy closed her eyes and thrust her head forward, her lips meeting Applejack's in a suden kiss. The farmer's eyes widened as her mind attempted to process what was happening. Before she could comprehend the events, she felt something slimy poking around her mouth. She instantly realized it was Fluttershy's tongue! Applejack reared back instinctively. "F-fluttershy, what are you doi-"
"Oh hush you silly pony." Fluttershy pulled the earth pony inside the cottage and shoved their lips together once gain. Both ponies savored the taste of the other, finally knowing release from strangling tension, before parting only to catch their breath.
"Apple... jack..." Fluttershy said between pants, "I love you too!" She leaped and glomped a still confused Applejack, leaving both ponies lying on the floor. "Oh my goodness, I've felt this way for so long, but I had kept these feelings deep inside, because I didn't know how you'd react!"
"Well what do ya know, that's what got me, too," Applejack replied, still blushing.
"No, I mean, I couldn't much speak to you for fear I'd say something dumb that'd ruin everything forever! I was afraid of even looking at you sometimes! And yet I'd spend all day longing after you! I just couldn't bring myself to get out of bed on some days because you weren't with me, yet I could never resolve to tell you! It was awful, how much I was torturing myself!"
"No, really," Applejack said, trying futilely to get out from under Fluttershy, "I know how you feel. That's pretty much what happened to me. Down to not getting out of bed. Sometimes Big Mac had to buck me out.
"But it doesn't matter now, because we're together now!"
Fluttershy squeezed Applejack tighter. "That's right! We are! And I don't have to worry about it any more! With you by my side, I feel brave enough I could tell the whole world things like "I insist!" or "No thank you!" or "FUCK YOU!"
"Um, but if it's okay with you, I'd rather not have to say that last one." Fluttershy fidgeted nervously a little.
"I dunno, Fluttershy." Applejack's face felt like fire. But the time for hesitation has passed long ago. She knew she had to reach for what she wanted. "That sounds mighty good right now."
"What do you mea-" The pegasus, suddenly realizing what her new special somepony had meant, squeaked and leaped into the air instantly, hitting her head on the ceiling of her cottage before landing on her back. "Oh oh oh oh m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-my g-g-g-goodnnness Applejack! You naughty, naughty pony!" she barely managed to say.
"Y'didn't say no,"
"But- but bu-" Fluttershy stuttered helplessly.
"C'mon, Fluttershy. We both know how we feel! I love you, you love me, why hesitate? Isn't that what got us in this mess in the first place?
"Besides," Applejack looked down to Fluttershy, then darted back to meet the pegasus's gaze, blushing. "You already look like you're ready to go..."
"Wh-wha-" Fluttershy realized her legs had splayed after the fall, and then she noticed a curious wetness between her thighs. Everything clicked, and she somehow leaped again, this time landing on her hooves, facing Applejack with a pained expression and a blush redder than the apples on her lover's flanks. She tried to speak but couldn't form any words, making various squeaks instead.
"Oh hush you silly pony," Applejack said, before chuckling a little. "Now let's get somewhere before you make a spot on the carpet. Somewhere... private."
Fluttershy gulped. But it was only an instinctual response to how fast things were going, for in her heart she knew she'd have things no differently.
Except maybe this would've happened after lunch, but, you know, details.
Applejack whistled. "Boy howdy, your room sure is nice. I wish I had a bed half that big! It'd be perfect for... eheheheh..." The farmer knew they were both thinking it, but it was still to awkward to say aloud.
The bed was indeed large, easily a few yards across, with a simple red-and-white checkered blanket on top. Fluttershy's room in general was very neat and tidy, something Applejack considered amazing since she lived with so many tiny critters. "How do you keep this room so tidy?" Applejack asked. "I keep mine neat by just not doing much in it, but-"
"Um, Applejack, I don't mean to interrupt, but..." Fluttershy said barely at a whisper. She couldn't quite get over another pony being in her room, especially not one that wasn't extremely sick, never mind her very special somepony!
Applejack nervously chuckled. "Oh, right. Well, Geronimo!" Applejack suddenly leaped, diving face-first into the bed. "Whoa nelly, this bed is soft! No wonder you always look so well-rested! Is this the pillow? Is this goose down in the pillow? How did you get so mu-"
"Um, Applejack, I don't mean to interrupt, but..."
Applejack turned to see Fluttershy sitting on the bed beside her. "Eagh! How did you get there so quiet-like?"
Fluttershy sighed. "It isn't hard to sneak up on a pony with her face in a pillow ranting about goose down.
"Besides, I know p-plenty of other b-better places for you to p-put that face," Fluttershy said, having finally completed an item on her bucket list - dirty talk. The relief was immeasurable.
Applejack stared blankly for a few moments, concerning the pegasus, before she broke out in a huge smile! "Boy howdy Fluttershy, I didn't know you had it in ya to say something like that! Whoo! Now I'm all fired up!" Applejack pounced on Fluttershy and pressed her lips against the shy one's.
If their first kiss was magical, this one had reached a new paradigm of wizardry. They let their tongues explore freely, and welcomed their respective newcomers. Occasionally the explorers would break from discovering their surroundings to examine each bump and curve on the other. Their slimy organs writhed and squirmed as their saliva mixed. The flailing dance mixed the juices of each pony as their hearts melded similarly. After a moment, the kiss parted, and both ponies stared into each others' eyes, panting, savoring the moment. A strand of saliva hung between their mouths.
Applejack felt it. Fluttershy felt it. They knew they were ready. They were going to...

"So, uh... what next?" Fluttershy asked.
"I... didn't really think of that, sugarcube," Applejack admitted. "I never would've guessed we'd be here right now. I didn't plan for anythin' after sayin' how I felt, to be honest. And yet, we're here, ready to..."
Fluttershy nodded. "I've never had a pony in my room like this before, either, Applejack. I always asked to be excused from these parts of health class, and I'd probably not attend for the next week. The thought alone is still making me feel weird."
Applejack suddenly grinned. "I know! Let's just get it started, and maybe the rest comes naturally! Okay, now let's... hmm, Fluts, put your leg there and-"
"Okay."
"No, more to the left."
"Okay, Applejack."
"No, MY left!"
"Egh, I don't think I can. YOUR leg is in my way."
"Alright, this here should work!"
"Applejack I don't think it is physically possible to derive pleasure with my leg bent this way."
"Then this?"
"When all the blood is forced to flow away from, um, 'down there' I don't think we'll get anywhere."
"Okay, Fluts, how about I put this here and... uh oh..."
"Uh oh?"
"I think I'm in a knot."
"Goodness, Applejack! Okay, I'll just pull here and-"
"GYAAAAAAAAHHH! What the hay did you do that for?"
"Rarity always told me to unravel a knot by pulling the threads!"
"That's my goldurn LEG!"
"Oh, right. Sorry."
"It's alright, Fluts, I got myself untangled. But I got an idea. Let me get your leg here."
"Applejack, I don't think it'll bend that way."
"Nonsense! Let's just put this here and-"
"Ghah! Ow ow ow shit SHIT SHIT!"
"Eheheheh, sorry there Fluts. Maybe if I just put this there and- oh, I think know who likes getting tick~led!
"N-n-not me! Please don't Applejack!"
"Now what fun would it be if I didn't give you a little coochie chochie!"
"Ahaha p-please stop! Ahaha Apple haha Jack hehe STOP PLEASE!"

"Land's sake Fluttershy, you could've bucked my eyes out!"
"I told you not to tickle me! I tend to... kick."
Applejack wasn't one to let several successive failures and possibly a dislocated shoulder stop her. "I know this great tip Rainbow told me once! And here I thought I spent 4 bits on nothing."
"W-what is it?" Fluttershy said, with well-earned apprehension.
"She told me a pegasus filly's wings are veeeeeeerrrrrrrryyyyy sensitive, and they'll make you feel great!" Applejack said with a very naughty smile.
"W-well that's true, they are sensitive but-" Before she could finish, Applejack grasped one wing between her hooves. She began working over the wing, tenderly caressing each feather, each tendon, inspiring great feelings in her partner.
"Ow fucking ow shit stop fucking OW FUCK GODDAMN OW JESUS CHRIST STOP"
Applejack leaped backwards at the last word, falling off the bed and hitting her head. Recovering quickly, she looked back at Fluttershy . "..." The farmer blankly stared at her partner, still muttering curses under her breath.
"..." Fluttershy winced as she folded her wing back.
"..." Applejack glanced around nervously, looking everywhere but Fluttershy's eyes.
"...Applejack." Fluttershy said, breaking the silence. "I don't mean to upset you, but, um..."
"Y'don't think this is gonna work out." Applejack finished, downcast.
Fluttershy scooted off the bed. "Sorry, I know how much this meant to you but-"
"Nah, I feel the same way. I don't think any relationship could've survived an encounter this awkward. But thanks for givin' it a shot."
"So, what now?" Fluttershy said, right before her tummy gave a huge grumble. "Oh, that's right! You showed up right as I was about to make lunch! How about we share a bite and talk about if we'll ever be able look each other in the eye again?
"Because, um, I think our friends would notice if we dreaded the very sight of each other."
Applejack sprang to her feet. "I have a great idea! I brought a back-up plan in case somethin' went wrong." Applejack trotted out of the room and down the stairs. Fluttershy idly fixed her mane in the moment alone. Can't be looking messy like you had horribly ineffective sex at 2 in the afternoon, after all.
The farmer finally returned to the bedroom with her saddlebags. She dropped them on the floor with a thud that caused the windows to shudder, and grabbed something out of them. "Ta-dah!" Applejack held up an opaque caramel-colored bottle. "It's the finest booze we make on Sweet Apple Acres! It's got more proof in it than the Lindelöf hypothesis! Instead of copin' with 'em, we'll drink away the awkward memories!"
"That sounds... lovely," Fluttershy replied, and indeed, it was probably the best idea she had heard in a while.
