Just Another Day At The Sparkle Household
The Begining and The End
Load Full StoryIt was another beautiful day in Ponyville. The streets were full of ponies seeking to spend their hard earned Bits on goods of any type. Weather it was a toy or food did not matter, it was bound to end up being taken home with somepony by the end of the day. It just so happened that our favorite purple pony was shopping. It was none other than the understudy of Princess Celestia and the bearer of the Element of Magic, Twilight Sparkle.
----- Twilight's POV -----
Oh Sweet Celestia, this place is PACKED! Although it DOES seem to be strangely organized... I mean, there seem to be lines for literally everything! *sigh* I just don't know how everypony handles all of this, it's so claustrophobic! Claustrophobic... that should be the word of the day! I'll have to make sure to write that down when I get home. I guess I should get going, I don't wanna keep my books waiting!
I walked straight through the crowd and towards my destination. I walked for what seemed like 30 minutes, but in reality it was only about 10 minutes, walking through a crowd made up of a towns worth of ponies can make you over exaggerate time. I looked up and saw my dream store right in front of me.
"Books, Quills, and Games" I said it under my breath to myself. It sounded heavenly. I walked into the store and saw the most amazing sight! Books were just EVERYWHERE! I stood and marveled at the sight for a moment. I wanted to move in to this place, maybe even buy it! I quickly shook off the notion and headed towards the counter. There was a younger looking colt behind the counter. I asked him about his finest quills, he gave about five different types to me. Of corse, I had to buy them all. I payed the young colt and started to walk away.
"Miss, wait!" The young colt yelled to me.
"Yes?" I turned around and waited for a response.
"Could you come back over here for a second?"
"Sure!" I walked back over to the counter.
"You spent so much here in one sitting... Would you like the rest of our games?"
"Uh, why?"
"Well, truth be told, they are worthless to us now. We are going to change our store name to "Books, Quills, and Beyond", so having games here would not really make sense." He explained to me.
"I am not sure..." I rubbed my hoof on my chin.
"If you have any little ones running around, they may like them!"
I thought for a moment about Spike. He had been bored lately and was always just sitting around with nothing to do.
"Sure, I'll take them."
He gave me a stack of games and headed me on my way. I stopped when I got out and looked up at the stores sign.
"What a nice colt, if only he was older."
With that I was off and on my journey back home.
"Spike, I'm home and I've got our word of the day!" I yelled. I used my magic to levitate our house key over to the door and lock it. I got a lock so nothing like what happened on my first night in ponyville would happen again. I like Pinkie's parties now, but I still would find it a bit creepy to find out that ponies were in my house when I was not home.
"Hey Twilight, look at this!" Spike quickly ran up to me. He looked excited and when I looked down I saw why. He appeared to be holding one of those music playing devices, I think they are called ScratchPod's or something. They are beautifully designed pieces of metal and plastic interlaced with magic from the top spell casters in equestria. Apparently DJPon3, or Vinyl Scratch as I like to call her, came up with the idea for them. I wonder where he got one of those. He was also holding a pair of Headphones. Those are supposed to be used with the ScratchPod's to make it so only you can hear the music that is playing. Personally I love the idea of them.
"Where did you get those Spike?" I was honestly worried that he had stolen them from somebody. I know he is not like that, but he doesn't usually buy something without asking me and he did not have them when I left this morning.
"Vinal Scratch brought two of each to us when you were out today. She said it was a thanks for the services we did for her." I don't remember us doing anything for her. When I think about it, I can't actually remember anything from a week ago. I stood and thought for a second. By the time I was done thinking, Spike had already run off.
----- Spike's POV -----
"Oh man, I LOVE this song!" I said as I cranked up the volume on my new ScratchPod. I started to sing along.
(I can't post the lyrics to the song here due to copyright issues, so click here to read them.)
I turned down the volume as the song ended. I started thinking about twilight.
"I hope she likes her gift..." I looked down at my ScratchPod.
"Oh sweet, Green Forest is on next!" I turned my ScratchPod back up. Man, I love songs with guitars in them.
----- Twilight's POV -----
I headed up the stairs and smiled when I heard spike singing. I am glad he is happy and enjoying his new gift. Wait, didn't spike say something about getting two of each of the things he showed me. I wonder if he... Oh, he did.
I looked on my bed and saw a purple and pink ScratchPod. Engraved on the top of the front was "Twilight Sparkle". I picked it up and turned it over. There was a picture of my cutie mark in place of the logo and below it was engraved "Thanks for being the best sister ever! -Spike". I looked at the headphones. They had the same color scheme as my new ScratchPod. They also had my cutie mark on the side of both of the earpieces.
"I hope you like them!" Spike stated energetically. I turned around and smiled warmly at him.
"I love them, thank you Spike."
"Aww, it was nothing."
I thought for a moment and then I got an idea.
"Hey Spike, wanna play a game?"
