//-------------------------------------------------------// Specter -by Krystalswordify- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 Luna was unduly awoken as a dull thumping noise emanating from her door as somepony knocked loudly on it. "Why must thou wake us so early?" Luna asked irritably, pulling her thin bed sheets over her head and groaning loudly. She waited for the knocking to stop but after several minutes it never did. "Will thou stop!?" Luna yelled angrily, getting out of bed and storming over to the door. She pulled back the lock and opened the door, glaring hatefully at the young figure that stood at the door with a small smile on his face. "For what reason does thou disturb us?!" Luna demanded angrily, her eyes glowing as she bared her teeth. "I, was... uh wondering if you wouldn't mind me using your observatory?" the young child asked. From his size he looked no older than seven or eight. His body was jet black with a cutie mark of many glistening stars surrounding a full moon. His thick mane was dark blue with large volume and an unruly fringe with a mess of spikes at the back of his head, his ears merely peeking out through his large do. His eyes were large orbs of light green that were the same shade as Luna's. Luna's mouth twisted into a vicious snarl, placing her face extremely close to the young child's and speaking clearly. "Thou hast woken us unduly, dragged us from our bed and demanded to visit our private place?" she asked sinisterly "What does thy think our reply shall be?" "Yes?" he asked, a cheesy grin on his face. "Leave" Luna hissed "Or we shall make you" "If you're thinking of scaring me then don't bother" the child said, grinning cockily "I'm not afraid of anything" "Is that so?" Luna asked, grinning darkly "What about now?" The child felt an itching on his back, turning around to see himself covered in spiders, crawling all over his body and clicking their fangs loudly. One of them crawled onto his face and raised its fangs in an attempt to bite him. The child opened his mouth, tilting his head and forcing it into his mouth before chomping down on it, chewing several times before swallowing loudly. "Spiders?" he asked loudly "Do better than that" Luna blinked blankly, greatly shocked by the young child's lack of arachnophobia which was extremely common in children his age. "Well then, I figure we shall have to turn the terror up a notch" Luna chuckled, her mane flaring out as her eyes began to glow a swirling black color. "Luna" a female voice said sternly from behind the child. Luna looked up to see her elder sister standing there with a disappointed look on her face. "Are you honestly resorting to scaring children to get your kicks?" Celestia asked. "No" Luna said quickly, looking away from her sister with an her bottom lip tucked under her teeth, her eyes deliberately avoiding Celestia's. "I really thought you'd grown up a little more than that sister" Celestia said before turning to face the young child "Hello there little one, what can I help you with?" "I wanted to ask if I was allowed to use the observatory you guys have here" he asked, putting on a pleasant tone. "Do you not have a telescope at your home?" Celestia asked. "Yes, I thought you did" a female voice said from the end of the corridor. The two of them turned to see a woman in her late twenties walking over to them. Her hair was an extremely light yellow with a daisy colored mane, tied back into a large ponytail at the top of her head, her eyes a light red color. "Oh no" the young child whined "Hey, mom" "What happened to the telescope I bought you?" she asked, tapping her hoof impatiently. "Well I was in my room... and I was racing around with one of my toys..." he began, focusing heavily on word placement. "And?" she asked, eyeing her son suspiciously. "I tried to balance the toy on my hoof and I tripped, the toy fell and... knocked the telescope over" he sighed "The lens is cracked in a lot of places" She gave him an unimpressed look for several seconds before sighing loudly, rolling her eyes. "I really shouldn't be surprised" she chuckled, rubbing her son's head "You're one of the most accidentally destructive ponies I know, your father was exactly the same" The young child chuckled but his mother placed her hoof on the tip of his nose. "But you're not getting your allowance until you've paid back what that telescope cost" she chuckled, laughing at herself. "But that'll take forever!" he exclaimed. "Well that's just the price you have to pay isn't it?" she asked. Celestia chuckled at the young child's expression, his mother laughing along too before the two of them were laughing together. "Strict parenting" his mother chuckled. "You just have to be sometimes to get your point across hmm?" Celestia asked. "Too true" she nodded "I'm Maria Your Majesty and this is my son Jaden" "It's a pleasure to meet you Maria" Celestia said, nodding in response to Maria's bow. "Can we return to our chambers now?" Luna asked groggily. "No, we're both going to show Jaden around the observatory" Celestia said "Would you like to come along Maria?" "I would love to Princess but I've got to get back to work, you don't mind me leaving Jaden with you do you?" Maria asked. "Not at all, it is always a joy to look after the younger children" Celestia said with a genuine smile "When will you be back to pick him up?" "I'll only be gone a few hours" Maria said "I'll drop in and pick him up when I'm done with work, I hope he doesn't cause you too much trouble" "I won't" Jaden nodded. "You better not" Maria warned "Otherwise you'll be getting into serious trouble" With that last warning Maria turned around and walked back the way she had appeared, leaving the three of them, albeit and angry Luna, standing there with an objective in mind. "Well then, let's be off" Celestia said, Jaden beaming happily. They made their way through the winding maze of the castle's corridors for several long minutes. Jaden marvelled at all of the tapestries and weaponry that adorned the polished surfaces of the walls. As they walked past the guards all of them bowed low and flared their wings out. Jaden knew they were bowing for their princesses but he couldn't help feel slightly privileged for being with them and seeing all of their loyal subjects. Celestia unlocked the door to the observatory with a wave of her hoof and all three of them entered. Jaden wandered around the large room with a marveled expression on his face. "This place is amazing" he said, laughing to himself "But I think it would be best to wait until nighttime to use the telescope" "We are not waiting until the twilight blankets the land to use the blasted telescope!" Luna yelled angrily, her eyes lighting up brightly again as she snarled angrily. "Peace sister, there is no reason to explode in such a way" Celestia said. "We are tired and hungry!" Luna boomed "Summon us whenever you want to use this blasted equipment but until then we shall return to our quarters!" Luna stormed out of the observatory angrily, slamming the iron-bound door behind her. The two left in the room looked at each other with large smiles before bursting out laughing, the sound echoing off the metal walls of the large room.
