You, a young archaeologist pony, is searching an ancient ruin for proof of the ancient civilization simply known as those who were "here before us". According to mythology this advanced and intelligent civilization once flourished and covered the entire globe. Even more shocking was that these beings had no access to magic and accomplished seemingly impossible tasks by using only their brains and their advanced technology. Mysteriously, these advanced beings began dwindling until they disappeared. Only the ruins of their buildings and remnants of their culture and technology remained behind.

Interestingly, not one single fossil or bone of these creatures has ever been found or unearthed. This lack of fossil evidence leads many to assume that this race of creatures never existed. In fact, many ponies believe these ruins were left behind by their ancient ancestors who gave up their supposed highly advanced way of life after Celestia and Luna came down upon the earth and taught them about friendship and magic.
