Chapter 1

Pain.

That was all that ran through his mind. He shook his head. It felt like it had been slowly crushed, reformed, then crushed again. His body felt like it had been put in a trash compactor. He opened what he assumed were his eyes, and looked about.

It seemed to be getting dark out. Plus, he saw trees, and plenty of them, except for the charred ones that looked to be where he apparently crash. He put to his head his... claws!

His hands were dark black with razor sharp claws. Looking down at his body, the rest of his body was revealed to be in a sort of black carapace. This is just getting better by the minute.

He stumbled to his, well... feet, trying to get used to the new body, and it just kept getting weirder from there. He had a spiked tail! Ooh, joy! He might as well call himself something. He laughed at himself. Maybe I should call myself One! He decided to practice moving in his new body.

After about an hour, he finally managed to walk without looking like a drunk alien... alien! He remembered something about aliens; he was some sort of guard... no umm, soldier, maybe? He thought about it as he walked—well, it was more like he crawled, since this 'alien' he was turned into walked on four legs. It did feel like a comfortable position to him, though.

He walked through the forest contemplating his situation. I'm in an alien body in unknown territory. Just great! he continued thinking with himself for about an hour, aimlessly wandering in no particular direction.

That is, until three very loud screams cut through the silence. ”AHHH!

Instinctively, he turned to where the sound had come from. He rushed off into the brush, his movement became more smooth, maybe because of the urgency of the moment. He stopped just short of a clearing. His sight changed from regular to some sort of thermal vision, and with this, he spotted three large heat signatures and three smaller heat signatures. The scream must have came from the smaller ones.

Ya don't say!? he silently screamed at himself.

Slowly, he approached from behind the large ones. He tensed and felt perfect control over himself. When he stepped out from the brush, the three little ones whom he identified instantly as ponies were backed up against a large tree, shaking with fear—no doubt of being eaten, he thought. He was not going to just allow the three poor creatures to be eaten.

As the beast, who looked like a mixture of animals, raised its paw to strike, he acted first, lashing out with his tail at the middle larger creature. To his surprise, it worked, going right through the animal's skin, an instant kill! The two others swung around, shocked at the gore-y mess their companion had become. He felt sorry for the images he probably put in the three smaller creatures' heads.

The creature on his left jumped at him with extreme ease. He flattened himself to the floor. When it passed over, he jumped up with claws stretched out, ripping open the poor creature's stomach. It fell dead, eyes wide with terror. He turned back to the last one, and it growled, charging at him with impressive speed and slamming into him. It roared in his face, and instinct took over. Big mistake. He opened his mouth. What a short and pathetic battle, he thought to himself. Wait, why did I just think that? I'm a nice, uh guy.

He turned back to the ponies who where trembling in terror at the scene they just witnessed. Their eyes were very large and their faces very expressive for mere ponies. Upon closer inspection, he realized that one of them was injured. The orange one's wound were not too serious, but enough to be a danger in a forest filled with predators and pitfalls. He sat down, doing his best to not appear threatening.

The yellow one with a bow in her hair was snapping out of her shock. As she stepped forward slowly, she looked over him curiously at him before recoiling backwards.

"Please don't eat us!" she pleaded.

He was more interested in that she could talk and that he could understand her, and then what she said finally reached him. Eat them? Me? He look down at himself again and it hit him. I do look like a meat eating predator, don't I?

He reached towards them in what he tried to make look like a friendly manner and found out it was not the smartest thing to do. He was faced with three open screaming floodgates. The two ran off, and the third was not in the condition to run and could only try, but ended up stumbling off with her friends, only to fall down.

He could not just leave her; he would not be able to live with it if he did. He reached over, picking her up carefully. She struggled at first, but gave up rather quickly, so he began following the running tiny ponies. After trailing the rather fast fillies for around ten minutes, they reached the edge of the forest. Peeking out, he saw what looked like a town.

Wow, those fillies are fast! he thought as he saw them run across the plain that separated the forest from what seemed like a town.

He took off over the plain, crossing it with extreme speed, not wanting to be seen since it was bad enough to have the two young ponies screaming and running around town. With speed that impressed even him, he jumped on top of a house that was rather small for him, the roof creaking as it tried to handle his weight. The darkness provided him with cover since he was completely pitch black.

He made his way across town when lamps turned on because of the fillies yelling. The orange one, however, had passed out. He was beginning to get worried. Ponies were walking... wait, ponies! Well, it shouldn't surprise him since the young ones talked, plus the creatures he ran into, but still, he was shocked to be in such a world. He spotted a building that had a cross on it, assuming it was some sort of hospital.

The fillies had stopped at a literal tree house. They were talking—more like crying worriedly to some larger ponies. He believed they were adults. His new body's advanced hearing and senses let him listen in even though he was running full speed, and rather fall away from them.

"We were in the Everfree forest, and we got chased by three Manticores. They cornered us, and then another creature that looked like a giant bug killed them and took Scootaloo!" they both cried in on of the most long winded sentence he had ever heard—oh, he remembered something! Though it didn't matter at this point.

So the creatures were called Manticores, eh? This was just getting better and better. He stopped in front of the building. He pounded on the door, setting the one he learned name was Scootaloo down, and ran off into the shadows. In a manner of minutes, the nurse, he assumed so based on her tattoo on her flank, rushed out, shouted orders and ran her inside.

Oh, this world was full of surprises. First, he woke up as a giant bug thing, and plus, he scared three young ponies that can talk witless; oh, how this was going so well.

"Monster!" several ponies that he didn't notice standing in the street screamed, pointing at him.

Eight more ponies rushed up, and he recognized a few of them instantly as the ones in that tree house and the two fillies he saved. He found it was best to get answer now. He jumped down, staring at them. They were frozen with the same fear he saw in the fillies. So sad.

He tried to speak, but it came out as a growl and a snarl. Well, he at least expected to be able to talk! This could not get any worse.

Well this just came to me while I was thinking up ideas so i decided to go through with it. lol Do not question my logic! :p

Chapter II

Chrysalis sat on the large hill overlooking her empire. Her hair was a mess, more so than usual; these were hard times for her children. After the failed invasion of Canterlot, they barely had enough to eat each day, and many were starving.

She sighed. Her kingdom was falling apart, her empire under attack from the other changeling empire trying to take over while she and her children were weak. It seemed like she and her subjects were doomed to starve.

She was cut short of her thoughts when a large boom shook the ground beneath her feet. She rose a hoof and paused, letting the shaking stop.

One of the most trusted guards, Cratch, ran in, bowing quickly and breathing heavily. “Your highness! We are under attack from the eastern Empire!” he said.

She thought quickly, at first unsure what to do.

“I suggest we take our forces and drawn them into the catacombs, since they outnumber us,” Cratch suggested, looking over his shoulder at a few guards, under his command. They were standing outside the door.

Chrysalis nodded. “Very well. I shall join you momentarily.”

He nodded back before he and his soldiers trotted out.

If they survived this attack, she needed to do something fast. Things were getting desperate.

This is not good, he thought, looking at each of the ponies. He had gotten himself into a huge situation, one he doubted he could get out of easily. The ponies were stiff in fear, and he was worried at what they might do, even though there was not very much they could do to a large armored creature. The only ones who didn't seem to be as scared were six particular ponies in the middle of the crowd that had gathered rapidly.

But then something even worse than what happened with the three young ones happened, and his senses were overflowed with sound. “MONSTER!” they all screamed at once, running away at extreme speeds, almost as if they had it timed. The six odd ones were lost in the crowd.

He decided to take this time to run like hell and dashed into the nearest alleyway to his right. The swarms of ponies struggled to get out of his way, screeching. He just wanted to get out of there, not wanting to deal with the idea that they might have had some sort of army. But where would he go?

As he tried to race down the alley, still not used to his new form, he fell face first into a metal can. Any pain he possibly felt disappeared in a few seconds. Growling, he tried to pick himself up, but with pure luck of the moment, he found it much more difficult to move fluently. He grumbled to himself, but there was no point to it. He had to keep going.

Choosing a random direction, he took off, half racing, half stumbling. He ended up dodging ponies and carts to and fro, jumping over multiple stands and almost colliding with a bench. However, while he was avoiding one of the ponies in his way, he failed to see the anvil that came out of nowhere.

Bang!

He stumbled away from it, seeing stars too real to exist. It took a while for him to recover as he drifted to wherever his feet took him.

Looking up, his daze gradually leaving him, he found that what seemed like thousands of streets of screaming ponies ended, revealing a large, beautiful orchard, filled with streets stretching off into the distance. Perfect cover, he thought to himself.

He took off as fast as he could manage to going over there. The sounds of the town and the yelling died down to an almost surreal quiet. He arrived to the orchard and relaxed a little. Here, at least nothing felt he was a threat.

He sat, taking a breath. Well, this is one deep hole I've dug myself into, he thought, thinking of what he should do next.

The Hive

“Quickly, get to the chambers!” Cratch, standing along with other changelings, called out. He quickly ran along the slime covered wall, sticking perfectly to its pasty surface.

Screams and roars of pain and fury could be heard just down the corridor. The hive had been attacked by another Changeling Empire, which had heard of the Queen's most recent defeat as a chance to take over.

Followed by his brethren, Cratch hurried into the chamber at the end of the corridor, drawn right into the scene. Multiple changelings were battling each other, green blood covering the floor. The room was a mess and reeked of chaos.

Cratch joined in, jumping at a changeling that had targeted a Nurse drone and cornered her near the right ride. He dug his teeth in the neck of the attacker, drawing blood. It screeched, desperately trying to get him off. Cratch just held on together, sucking in large amounts of blood. His victim, obviously becoming more and more disoriented, collapsed from blood loss.

Putting his mouth around the unconscious changeling's head, he jerked his mouth, making an audible crack. He fell back and looked away from the disembodied changeling, turning back to the Nurse drone. The drone smiled at him with gratitude before escaping from the chamber.

Glancing back to the battle, Cratch doubted it was going well for both sides. They were both gathered high death tolls, but the violence kept coming. It didn't take long before another changeling charged at him from his left.

He jumped on the wall, firing off two volleys of green blasts at his opponent. It dodged them, leaping onto him to tear him down from the wall. He found himself pinned on the ground. Cratch tried desperately to free himself from the changeling's grasp.

His attacker smiled, showing blood soaked teeth. “Your precious Queen is doomed,” he gloated, his horn glowing green as he prepared to finish Cratch off.

However, a chorus of shrieks echoed through the chamber, followed by a blood curling scream. His opponent looked up.

Something with extreme force slammed into Cratch, knocking him against the wall. His vision blurred, and all he heard were screams around him before he drifted into unconsciousness.

Chapter III

Cratch groaned, pain pounding against his body. Opening his eyes, all he got was a blurry vision. He tried to piece together what was going on. When his world finally stopped spinning, he looked around, only to receive a horrid sight.

The battle had been, as expected, very bloody. The bodies of his friends and foes lay strewn out all over the cave wall and ground. As he walked through the bloodbath, the scent of putrid flesh and blood overwhelmed his senses. The Hive had become silent—too silent.

He began moving more stealthily, in case rival changelings were still in the hive. Still seeing no sign of life, he began to make his way to the upper levels. A small groan cut through the silence all of a sudden.

He kept moving forward, the sound getting closer than ever. He arrived at the bend leading to the swarm's trading ground, a place where Cratch, like many warriors before him, had trained for hours and hours a day.

Emerging from around the corner, he look around to see more of his fellows scattered about the chamber, a small number still breathing. Two nurse drones tried their best to care for the remaining wounded.

One of them was helping one warrior up, one nurse he recognized. Nova was her name. Her back was bent under the weight of the large warrior. Rushing over, Cratch took the weight from the warrior. Nova looked up, smiling thankfully before sitting down. Cratch returned the smile, even though he was struggle with the weight.

Nova had always been a kind, quiet changeling. She didn't deserve to be in this situation. Turning his attention back to the problem, it seemed that the enemy retreated, or so he hoped.

“Does anyone know where the Queen is?” he asked, glancing between the nurses and wounded.

The ones that could speak replied no, and the others merely shook their heads. Cratch sighed. Even if the enemy had retreated, it would take a long time to recover from this. Turning and walking toward the tunnel to the upper levels, he decided to take his chances and check to see if the enemy was still there

Well, this is a deep hole I have dug myself into, he thought, crouching as he thought his things through.

He could still hear the common in the town that he had caused. He began thinking; he needed to get away and find some food. What, what do I eat? he thought, realizing he had no clue what to do about that.

He decided that the best course of action would be to find a suitable place to spend the night, since he wasn't feeling very hungry just yet. Walking through the column of trees, a very long time passed when he realized there was nothing useful for him around. Grr, I wonder how long it will take before I find some stinking shelter!

Something caught his eye. It was a large, wooden structure, the one door on it to his left closed. Deciding it was worth the risk, he made his way over to it, being careful that no one else was around. He slowly opened the large door that was large, even compared to him.

He walked inside, glancing around. Some assortment of tools were spread around, as well as ten barrels of apples. He stared at the apples, finally deciding to leave it alone and not take the chance. Looking up at the upper level of the structure, he thought, That seems like a god place to go unnoticed. Today, though, nothing seemed to be going in his favor. Maybe he could finally get some rest and peace.

He slowly lowered himself onto the ground. He needed some rest.

A single creature, a changeling, stood staring out over the barren desert. This was his kingdom. This barren wasteland was what he was stuck with for know. But soon, Chrysalis and her followers, living in comfort, would soon be outed, and he and his empire would move to more friendly territory.

They were pathetic. Chrysalis was a good manager, but she was no military commander. Sitting down, he began to think, think about his next move. Certainly, the other empire would notice this change in power, and they would certainly want a piece of action.

And then there were the Ponies. Their Princesses would also notice, and possibly even want to change this. He had a most marvelous reputation. And if any one of the Other empires or the Ponies try to get in the way, their leaders, along with Chrysalis, would disappear from this game...

He was brought out of his thoughts when one of his advisers stepped out onto the dirt platform. It was quite brilliant really. The changelings would use the occasion rain water to make mud buildings. Then, when they dried out, they were just as good as stone... mostly. As with all buildings there were always... flaws.

His Adviser bowed before saying, “My Lord, we have breached the outer defenses of Chrysalis's stronghold.”

“Good, good,” he replied. This was most certainly good news. “When will we be able to move in to our new home?” he continued, smiling at his adviser.

“Well, it seems the remaining warriors have retreated to the Catacombs and are putting up quite a fight. It wouldn't be safe to move in yet, but I assure you, sir, that we will have it soon.” After finishing, his adviser stepped back.

His smile disappeared. “If you do not take the Stronghold soon, I can always you. Now, go!” he shouted, his good mood now gone.

The adviser bowed again, then almost ran out of the room. How pitiful, just like Chrysalis and the Ponies...
