The words came first and fast to Birdy.

Falling! Falling! Falling!

CLOUDS!?

PAIN! PAIN! PAIN!

Darkness.

Bird awoke sleepily as she examined her surroundings. She was in Twilights library, but the violet mare was nowhere in sight. Beside her, Princess Piaffle laid on her side, her eyes were shut closed as if she was sleeping on a regular night.

“Pia” Bird whispered into her friends ear. The older mare stirred unsettling.

“Piiiaaaaa” Birdy nudged her with her hoof, in attempt to wake her up.

“M’what?” Piaffle opened one of her golden eyes to be greeted by Bird Songs.

“Where’s Twilight Sparkle or what’s her name?” Bird whispered.

“I.. don’t know where she is. Anyway, aren’t we supposed to be in your mind or something?” Pia asked, waking up more now.

“I think we already are. Come help me look around!” Bird said, heaving herself up to her hooves and prancing around the darkened room.

Pia got up wearily as she trotted after Birdy.

On a simple table Bird noticed something on it.

On the wooden table was a piece of paper, neatly folded in half. Beside it, was a sort-of-rusted-out lantern, with a dull pink saddle bag behind it.

“Hey, what is that Birdy?” Pia called from behind as she came up to her friend.

“The note? I don’t know. Lemme read it” Bird Song unfolded the note using her magic.

“What does it say?”

“Says ..

Dear Finder of this note,

Run. You need to get out. In the midst of this darkness there is a light. Find it.”

“What’s that supposed to mean!?” Pia asked angirly.

“I don’t know … But I have a feeling it isn’t good” Bird said, looking back at the brown Pegasus.

The note really did creep her out. What was here that this pony was warning them about?

Bird shuddered.

‘I don’t think I wanna know …’ she thought silently, as she picked up the note, and putting it in the saddle bag.

As the Alicorn put the bag around her back, a faint hiss then rose softly from inside the bag.

“Huh? What is that?” Pia asked, eyeing the bag carefully.

“I don’t know” bird said, lifting open the cover and pulling out … Her lost messenger. The one she used Silver Dasher to message with.

“This- This is my lost messenger …. I used it to message one of my friends” Bird flinched as the word ‘friend’ slipped out of her mouth.

Messengers a quick way for a pony to deliver electronic mail in any way, instead of using hoof and quill.

Bird felt unease rise in her chest as she attempted to turn it on. To her surprise, the device flicked to life with a blue light.

But as quickly as it came, it died along with all the color that surrounded them.

"Have you seen Twilight, Pia?" Bird turned around to face her friend.

"No I haven't .. But I'm getting tired of sitting in here. Let's get out!" Pia said, gently digging a hole in the wood with her fore hoof.

Bird nodded as she put the messenger back into the bag. She picked up the lantern in her mouth and the two set out to the front door.

The door sighed as Pia opened it, and she peeked out.

BIrd watched as her friends eyes grew wide.

"What's wrong?" Bird asked, tilting her filly head to the side.

"Take a look for yourself" Pia side stepped as the younger pony took her place.

The world was embraced in a white fog, the only sight the Alicorn could see was the silhoutte of the buildings, and the almost-white dirt below hoof.

"Ugh! Where's the weather Pegasi!?" Bird threw her hooves in the air as she let out a frustrated groan.

"I don't know" Pia said, shaking her head.

"Well, let's find them then!" The filly said, unfurling her wings.

Princess Piaffle nodded as the two let out a powerful wing stroke, sending them into the air.

The air around Bird Song soon froze her little body, and she let out a shudder as they gained height.

"Bird?" Piaffle brought her head next to the musical pony. Pia's voice was awfully quiet.

"Yea?" Bird whispered back as she hovered in the air.

"Is that another pony over there?" Pia asked, pointing a hoof west from the ponies.

"I... I think so!"

"Should we go over and talk to the Pegasus and ask where the BUCK our wether Pegasi are?" Princess Pia asked, in a louder tone.

Bird nodded as the two raced over to the Pegasi.

'It's ....  so cold up here! Bird thought as she ducked her head to her chest, but at the same moment white flakes started flowing gently, and twisting playfully as they fell from the fog.

'Huh? Snow?' Bird was snapped out of her thoughts as the Pegasus drew near.

To Birds surprise, it's features were nothing like she had seen before. The same hiss from the library broke out from her bag, and growing louder every wing stroke toward the pony.
