The Natural Way of Healing
Introduction
Cold. That's how it was on a December morning in Ponyville. The pegasi were getting ready to produce snow, ponies were having Hearth's Warming lights put up, and fillies and colts were heading to school.
But inside of the Sugarcube Corner, it was a different atmosphere. It was warm, and smelled like fresh baked pastries. Two ponies stood in the line waiting to order something. One of the ponies was a white unicorn stallion. He was built, had black freckles, and stood as tall as the work-heavy pony Big Macintosh. His mane was black and straight, as was his tail. He was wearing a white and gray-checkered beanie. Sunglasses covered his eyes. He had an unusual cutie mark, a marijuana leaf covering a red cross.
The other pony was the total opposite. It was a pitch-black unicorn filly. Her mane was pure white; long and flowing and her tail was the same. She also wore a black and gray checkered beanie. She had white freckles, purple eyes and she wore white circular glasses. She had yet to obtain her cutie mark.
The two cake shop owners, Mr. And Mrs. Cake, noticed the two. Mrs. Cake happily trotted over to the ponies. She then greeted them with a warm hello.
"Why, hello there, and welcome to Sugarcube Corner! How may I help you?" She asked sweetly.
The white unicorn shifted his hooves. "uuuuummmmm…..I would like….six dozen donuts."
The blue mare gave him a surprised look. "Six dozen? As in seventy-two donuts?"
"Yes." The white stallion agreed.
"eh…okay….what kind would you like?"
"One of everything, please."
Mrs. Cake gave him another surprised look. "Everything?"
"Everything." He nodded.
Mrs. Cake looked over to her husband. "We don't have enough donuts on display!" She whispered.
"I'll go make some more." He whispered back.
Mrs. Cake then looks back at her two customers, waiting patiently.
"I'm sorry but it appears that we will have to make some more donuts. It shouldn't take long." The confectionary pony apologized.
"That's okay. We'll wait." The stallion responded. "Can I go ahead and pay?"
"Of course. That'll be 35 bits." She answered.
The unicorn pulled out a brown cloth sack, which carried his money.
"So…are you ponies new to town?" Mrs. Cake asked to strike up a conversation.
"Yup…." The unicorn responded in a disturbingly slow manner.
Mrs. Cake gave him a concerned look. "If I may ask, what is your name?"
"Cannabis Indica…" He spoke. "I prefer Cannabis though…."
"Oh…er…well…" Mrs. Cake didn't actually know how to respond to that. "I'm Mrs. Cup Cake."
She leaned over the counter to meet the filly. "Well aren't you just the cutest thing? What's your name little one?"
"….ve…" She said as she hid behind Cannabis.
"Don't be shy, Rave. It's okay." Cannabis said as he moved to reveal the smaller unicorn.
"Ummm…uh…I'm Rave….I'm…c-Cannabis' sister…" She murmured.
The confectionary pony laughed. "Well, it's very nice to meet you are you from?"
"Manehattan." They responded simultaneously.
She turned to the unicorn. "So what do you do for a living?"
"I'm a medicinal marijuana dispenser. I've been appointed by the Equestrian Medical Society and the Royal Guard to open a dispensary here in Ponyville."
Mrs. Cake gave him a look as if that's what she was expecting. "Oh….really?"
"Yeah. Helping people with glaucoma, MS, PTSD, depression." Cannabis added.
"Really?"
"Indeed. It also helps people going through chemo, such as AIDS or Cancer patients."
The blue pony stared at Cannabis, as he just blew her mind.
"Wow….so when is this dispensary going to open?" Mrs. Cake asked.
"Oh…about a week or so…." Cannabis shrugged.
Mr. Cake stepped out of the kitchen with an assortment of freshly baked donuts, éclairs, and pastries, most of which were decorated to fit the winter weather.
"They're done! I figured that all donuts would be boring, so I added some other baked goods." He explained.
"Oh, well thank you. We better be on our way. Today is somepony's first day of school." Said Cannabis. Rave shrunk behind Cannabis.
"Thank you for your business. Come again." Mrs. Cake told them.
The two ponies made their exit, and a certain pink mare came bouncing down the stairs carrying two foals.
"Hiya, Mr. And Mrs. Cake! What're you two doing up so early?" Pinkie asked bouncing up and down. Pound Cake and Pumpkin Cake were on the ground playing.
"Hello, Pinkie Dear. We were just making an order for the new ponies who moved here." Mrs. Cake told her.
"*le gasp* NEW PONIES! Where?! Where are they?!"
"They just left." Mr. Cake answered this time.
Pinkie put her serious face on. "Well there's no time to lose. There are new ponies in town and I have to set up a 'Welcome to Ponyville' party! STAT!" she shouted as she raced out the door.
The two ponies looked at each other, then smiled.
"Three, two, one." Mr. Cake counted.
Pinkie came racing back in. "GAH! COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD!" She raced upstairs to grab a scarf.

Author's Note: Yeah…kinda short for a first story…yes…my OC is a stoner, and yes he does happen to be high during this chapter. Yeah this story is set (for the time being) near Hearth's Warming. I wanted to post this fic on this site but my power went out. D:< So yeah..... read and review. If you see something that I need to work on, TELL ME!!

First Day
Ponyville Elementary 8:00 am
Rave stood at the front of the school building. She was scared. Scared of introducing herself again. She wanted to stay in Manehattan, where her friends were. Where the Cutie Mark Crusaders were.
Rave was quite the loner. She used to eat lunch by herself; she would just poke at the dirt at recess. Anything she did, she was alone. That was until a certain classmate wanted her to join her club. The Manehattan Branch of the Cutie Mark Crusaders. Her (now) friend Babs Seed explained that it was a club dedicated to discovering your special talent, and of course, she gladly accepted.
She had so much fun! She went one so many adventures with her friends. But now, it's a whole different group of people. Who knows what these people will do to her.
"Well…" Cannabis started. "Here we are…"
Rave swallowed hard. "Yeah…at my new school…"
Cannabis put a hoof on her shoulder. "Come on kiddo. Today's a half-day. I'll be here at noon to walk you home. I promise."
Rave shifted her hooves. "Okay then…." She expression then went from nervous to sad. Cannabis gave his sister a hug.
"Come on Rave. Who has it better than us?" he asked as he tickled her.
"…nopony, that's who." She giggled. "what will you be doing until I get out of school?"
"Getting stoned of course."
"Well that figures."
"Here, take some of these and share them with your classmates." Cannabis used his magic to give Rave two boxes of donuts, each box containing a dozen. "See ya later!" he said as he trotted off.
Rave took the donuts and slowly trotted inside the school. She saw approximately twenty students inside. They were having some sort of party, because the desks were pulled to the walls, and most of the students were on beanbag chairs and talking with one another. The teacher pony, Cheerilee, went over to the small filly.
"Well, hello there! Class I want all of you to meet Rave." Cheerilee greeted.
The students responded with more chatter. Cheerilee sighed and leaned down to Rave. "Well I guess the students are pretty busy right now, why don't you help yourself to some food? You could pull up a beanbag if you want."
"Thank you, Ms. Cheerilee." Rave told the teacher pony. She went over to where the food was, and placed the donuts with everything else. She then went over and sat in a pink beanbag chair and pulled out her MP3 player, secluding herself from everypony else.
Near the other students, they began to notice the outcast. Ponyville's Cutie Mark Crusaders, Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, and Apple Bloom, were specifically intrigued.
"Who is she?" Sweetie Belle asked her fellow crusaders.
"I haven't seen her around before. She must be new." Scootaloo observed the filly.
"Well ahm gonna go and introduce mahself." Apple Bloom stated as she trotted over to Rave. Sweetie Belle grabbed her and dragged her back.
"Hey! What's tha big idea?" Apple Bloom huffed.
"Well we can't just go and introduce ourselves like that! What if she's a bully like Babs?" The white unicorn explained.
"She has a point." Scootaloo nodded in agreement.
Apple Bloom sighed deeply. "First, you guys know as well as ah do that Babs isn't a bully. Second, this is a completely different pony were dealing with. Who knows? Maybe she'll want to be a Cutie Mark Crusader! Ah don't see a cutie mark on that flank."
"Woah there Apple Bloom, checking out the new filly." Scootaloo teased.
"Wha- …." Apple Bloom had to think for a moment. "No!" the farm pony retorted as her cheeks turned a bright red. "Ah'm just sayin' lets give her a chance!"
The Pegasus and the unicorn looked at each other.
"Well….I guess it wouldn't hurt anything…" said Sweetie Belle.
"Yeah…I guess…" said Scootaloo.
"Great!" piped Apple Bloom as she trotted over to the secluded unicorn.
…
Rave just sat there in the beanbag, bobbing her head to the rhythm of her music. She snapped out of her trance as she saw a cream-colored earth pony approach her. She quickly tensed up.
"Howdy!" Apple Bloom greeted Rave.
"Uhhhh…..hi…" Rave spoke nervously.
"Mah name's Apple Bloom!"
"I'm….Rave…."
"Are you new?"
"…mm hmm…"
"Come over and sit by us! I don't want ya feeling all lonely and stuff." Apple Bloom pushed the beanbag over to the other ponies. Rave quickly shrank back.
"Hey guys! This is Rave!" Apple Bloom explained to her friends. "Rave, this is Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle."
"N-nice to meet you all…"
The other ponies moved their beanbags close to Rave.
"So Rave, where are you from?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"M-manehattan…."
"MANEHATTAN?!" shouted Apple Bloom. "I have a cousin who lives up there!"
"Babs?"
Apple Bloom stared at Rave. "Yeah….how'd you know?"
"Lucky guess."
"So are you familiar with the Cutie Mark Crusaders?" asked Scootaloo.
"Yeah…speaking of," Rave pulled out the Cutie Mark Crusaders cape.
"YAAAAAAAAAY! A MEMBER!" Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo shouted in unison.
Rave felt happy inside, knowing that she made friends with hardly any effort.
"How did you find out about this?" Apple Bloom question Rave.
"She let me join her club after she came back from her vacation. We already have…..like….twenty ponies at our school wearing these capes."
This news made the ponies very happy.
"So…tell us a bit more about yourself." Demanded the farm pony.

Pinkie Pie pranced through the streets of Ponyville. She had to meet these new ponies to throw them a party! But where could they be?
"Now…those ponies have got to be around here somewhere…but WHERE?!" she thought to herself.
She scanned her surroundings trying to find a pony whom she hadn't met before. Then she spotted her target: Cannabis trotting towards Mane Street. She bounced over to the stoner pony to introduce herself.
Cannabis used his magic to roll a blunt. He then lit it and took a puff out of it. And boy was that the wrong time to do that.
"Hi! I'm Pinkie Pie! What's your…..*sniff sniff*" Pinkie Pie gave the unicorn the death stare. "What's wrong with you?"
Cannabis wasn't paying attention. "What?"
"That's ILLEGAL! You can't smoke marijuana in Ponyville! There are PONIES walking by!" Pinkie screamed.
"…what?"
Applejack and Rainbow Dash were trotting by when they noticed Pinkie Pie. The two went over to see that Pinkie was venting on this guy.
"Great golly girl what's wrong?" Applejack asked.
"Yeah, Pinks. What's up?" Rainbow questioned.
Pinkie Pie spun around. "This Meanie McMeanerface is smoking in public! Tha's the problem!"
The two mares looked at each other. "Uh, Pinkie, I hate to burst you bubble…but it kinda isn't illeagal to smoke in public." Applejack told her friend.
Pinkie was about to kick herself for that. "Let me rephrase that. He's smoking Mary Jane."
"Who?" Rainbow asked.
"Mary Jane? Who's Mary Jane?" Applejack looked over at Pinkie.
Pinkie face-hoofed. "This guy is blasting a joint!"
"What?" Rainbow gave Pinkie a confused look.
"You know. Taking a hit? Having a Tea Party? Torching up? Burning a chronic tree? Blueberry yum-yum? Flyin' high over? Cutting the grass? Hanging with Bob? Poking Smot?"
Rainbow Dash and Applejack had a discombobulated look on their faces.
"HE'S SMOKING MARIJUANA! THIS GUY IS SMOKING MARIJUANA IN PUBLIC!" Pinkie screamed.
"Well why didn't ya say so? Par'der I'ma have ta ask you to put that out."
"Yeah, that's illegal!" Rainbow barked.
Cannabis just turned to leave, and Rainbow Dash was having none of it.
"Don't turn from me! I'm not done talking to you!"
"Well, I'm done talking to you." He said slowly as he trotted the other direction. Applejack stood in front of him.
"Listen, par'dner. I know your new here, and that you haven't accustomed to our way of doing things, but seriously. Please put out your marijuana cigarette. It would be a shame if-"
"Well, if it isn't Captain Indica!" said a voice.
"Twilight?" Cannabis asked slowly.
The book-smart unicorn came and gave Cannabis a hug. "It's so good to see you again, Captain!"
"It's good to see you too, Twilight!" Cannabis responded slowly but excitedly.
"You know this guy, Twilight?" Rainbow Dash asked.
Twilight didn't even notice her friends. "Oh. Hey girls! Yes I do know this stallion. He's a high ranking doctor in the Royal Guard. A Captain, actually. Shining Armor and I grew up with him. He's a few years younger than me, believe it or not."
"…Captain?" Applejack's face had a surprised look on it.
"Yeah. He also works with the Equestrian Medical Society. Didn't you hear?"
Rainbow Dash raised an eyebrow. "Hear what?"
"That medicinal marijuana is legal in Ponyville." Said Cannabis as he took another hit from his blunt."
"It is?!" Rainbow Dash asked.
"Yes. And I've been appointed by the Equestrian Medical Society and the Royal Guard to open a dispensary here."
"I can smell that you're taking your medicine."
Pinkie stared at Cannabis. "…Medicine?"
"Yeah….I use marijuana to control my glaucoma."
"YOU have glaucoma?" Pinkie tilted her head.
"Yup… I'm kind of high right now…. so how's Spike?"
"He's fine. Getting bigger everyday. How's Rave?"
"She her usual shy self." Cannabis told her. "Oh so shy…."
"WOAH WOAH WOAH! Hold up!" Rainbow Dash shouted. "This guy, is a doctor, a CAPTAIN, I should say?"
Cannabis shook his head.
"And you've been hired by the Royal Guard…"
Cannabis nodded again.
"To open a dispensary."
Cannabis nodded once more.
Rainbow Dash tilted her head.
"Wow…"
Now it was Applejack's turn to ask questions. "Well, that explains it. Ah would like to get to know ya better. How about we get something to eat."
The girls nodded in agreement.
"Yeah…sounds nice….I just realized I had the munchies….."
