PRINCE BLUEBLOOD KIDNAPPED!

/someone cut off one short article from newspaper, but it's still recognizable as Equestria Courier, one of Equestria most popular newspapers.

Unknown assailant used some kind of fireworks, and forced prince air chariot to land. Pegasi guards of Prince split up, two guards stayed to protect Blueblood, when rest went to to investigate from where firework was shot. Lone attacker used this for his own advantage and quickly knocked out two alarmed, trained Royal Guards. Attacker was probably griffin, as his weapon of choice was crossbow with dull, broad, heavy bolts, used by different griffin nations as not lethal ammunition, and some kind of staff or bat. Then attacker proceed to attack guards and Prince Blueblood.

As anonymous guard described it:

'We were on open field, awaiting for rest of guys to come back, but then Blueblood shouted when he was hit in chest with

this heavy bolts... We tried to hide behind wreck of chariot, but after minute or less, bolts started to fly from different direction. Our enemy was faster than us, and we were in open field, unable to move closer toward tree line, without leaving Prince behind... then I took bolt to the side, it broke few of my ribs, I was out of action. I ordered kid to run, inform Equestria of our situation... but when he bolted off, some shape started to follow him... boy, it was fast. Kid tried to shake it off, but it cached him, and knocked off... Finally this damned griffin came for me. I thought I'm a goner, but he, or she, I'm not sure, just punched me into unconsciousness. When I woke up I was informed that no one was killed, and no permanent damage was done...'

Was it attack of lone criminal hoping for ransom or part of more complicated political plot?
