The sun was blinding. The sun was blinding and it seemed that no matter where I turned, I couldn't get it out of my eyes. What a way to wake up, right? I didn't even try to, you know, block the sun with my hands, but hey I just woke up. You can't expect me to be the epitome of knowledge at that point, not that I am at any other point in the day. After a few seconds of nearly going blind Libra style, I finally had the brilliant idea to roll over onto my stomach and cover my eyes. Brilliant, simply brilliant.
"Oh dear mother of fuck, why is the sun so bright?" I said, ever so eloquently. It took me a second, but ever so slowly I made a realization. Looking up at the sky, I voiced my confusion in the only way I know how: shouting. "Where in the fuck am I?"
I waited for a second, hoping someone would hear my cry and kindly explain where I was and give me a ride home, but they never came. I sighed and tried to stand up. Now, the key word here is tried, because my legs didn't seem to want to cooperate and slight tilt of my head clued me into why.
I no longer had legs.
Okay, yeah I still had legs, but they weren't what I was used to. What had once been pasty white legs with a sort of light dusting of hair were now slender legs covered in soft brown fur and ending in sort of a flat, stumpish thing. Reaching down to feel them, I saw that my arms had also undergone a similar transformation. Again, I responded to this discovery in the best way possible. Jumping onto all four hooves, I again shouted. "Holy shit, I'm a god damned pony!"
This time, however, someone heard me. Well, somepony rather. This somepony timidly walked up to me while I was trying to make sense of anything that was going on. She hesitated for a second before lightly tapping me on the back, causing me to jump and turn around. The pony, now in front of me, took a step back and blushed, her light pink mane falling over her left eye as she looked me over carefully. She opened her mouth slightly, but no words came out. I took it upon myself to start the conversation.
I smiled at her. It was small, but it was all I could manage given the circumstances. "Uh, hey. I don't suppose you heard me yelling, did you?"
She nodded before opening her mouth again. This time, she actually did speak, though I had to strain myself to hear. "I...did." She extended her hoof apprehensively. "I'm Fluttershy, by the way."
I stared at her hoof for a second, not quite knowing how to shake it, but she put it down after some time. "Let me ask you something, Ms. Fluttershy. Have you ever had that feeling where you wake up and you have no idea who you are, much less where you are, but then you look over to something as meaningless as a lamp and you have a full understanding of both who and where?"
It took her some time to understand where I was going with that, but she nodded. "O-once or twice."
"Well as you can see, I there aren't any lamps near here." She looked at me, obviously confused as to what I was getting at. Therefore, I had to clarify. "What I'm saying is, I have no idea who or where I am. Come to think of it, that was a much easier way of putting it."
"Y-you don't know where you are?" I gave a small nod, a slight frown crossing my face. Her eyes widened in a sort of mix of surprise and horror, it was actually pretty funny. "Oh you poor dear, please come with me." She hooked a hoof around me and we started a slow walk over to her cottage, which, very surprisingly, wasn't too far from where I woke up. If only I'd turned those few degrees, I wouldn't have embarrassed myself like that.
And when I say walk, I mean she walked and I stumbled along with a crooked gait. In all honesty, I was doing better than I should have been, but it only came from studying Fluttershy's surprisingly fluid motions. It was almost as if she had been doing this for her entire life. If it wasn't for her, I probably would have fallen on my face at least twenty times, with her I only fell twice. But hey, I needed to learn I had a horn somehow, and falling and nearly breaking it seemed to work.
Anyway, the first thing Fluttershy did upon us entering her cottage was setting me on the couch before scurrying off to the kitchen to fetch some tea. I would have told her that I hated tea, but I just needed the small amount of time to myself.
Leaning my head back far enough to just barely touch the wood backing, I let out a soft sigh. "Great, I'm in Ponyville now, as a pony, and Fluttershy finds me first. Why couldn't it be like, Twilight or something? Hell, I'd go for Rainbow Dash, or even Applejack if I had to choose, but no, Fluttershy."
I sighed and glanced at her wall clock. If I was reading it correctly, it was nearly three and I wanted to actually check out the town before nightfall. There was also no way in hell I was staying with Fluttershy for any time longer than I needed to, and look at that, I didn't need to. It's not that I had anything against Fluttershy, it's just that I had something against her. Taking advantage of her being busy, I stood up and made my way to the door. Thankfully, I didn't fall and break anything. That would only serve to make it more awkward when she came back.
On the road into Ponyville, I happened to pass by a skinny cream colored Pegasus colt with a very expensive camera hanging around his neck. Now, normally this would be a very uninteresting sight, but I knew this colt, much like most ponies in this world, and he wasn't a colt anymore. If he was seven before, he was at least sixteen now. The other thing that threw me of was the fact that he was very attractive. Again, much like most ponies in this world.
"E-excuse me," He squeaked out as I passed, making me have to turn around. He was wearing a slight blush on his face and his coat didn't do anything to hide it. "I'm, uh, sorry for bothering you, but are you coming from Fluttershy's cottage?"
I put a hoof to my chin in faux thought. "It depends. Is Fluttershy the Pegasus with the yellow coat?"
He nodded. "It's more of a light gold, but yes, that's her." My eyes widened a tiny bit, causing him to blush harder. So he decided the best course of action would be to change the subject. He extended his hoof out to me. "I-I'm Featherweight, by the way."
I looked at his hoof, but didn't even make it look like I was about to shake it. This caused an even more awkward situation. He pulled back his hoof and looked to the ground. I scratched the back of my head. "Uh, no offense, but I'm not really a hoofshake kind of guy." I let out a small chuckle that he didn't even try to match. "I'm...Magic Hour." I decided. I couldn't just go around using my real name, could I? Well, I could, but it'd be really odd using a name like John Smith in a place with names like Time Turner.
Featherweight gave a small, really adorable smile. "It's nice to meet you, Magic. I'd like to stay and chat, but I really need to go talk to Fluttershy."
I shrugged before turning back around. "It's not like I'm stopping you. I'll see you later, Feathers."
Then we parted ways. He to Fluttershy's cottage and I to Ponyville.
