The Beginning

Morning daylight bounced off the walls as birds sung loud and clear. Lazily I climbed out of bed and peered out the window. Seeing that most of the town was awake and out and about I quickly checked my mane before rushing out the door. Warmth hit my face as I entered the fresh air, quiet chatter could be heard all around me as everyone socialized. I walked through the market taking in all the delightful smells, ponies greeted me here and there as I checked out many stands. Buying some berries one of my friends came over and chatted with me for several minutes. Caught up in conversation I did not realize that the birds had stopped singing, were they usually stay out and chirp all day. Saying goodbye I began to head to the exit of the market wanting to go home and have some lunch after a good visit. Noticing that most of the other citizens were going home, I told myself that it would be a nice quiet lunch.

Opening my door I set my bag of berries on the kitchen table, and took a few out and put them in a bowl. Gathering all that I needed I made a small sandwich, I sat at the table eating my lunch in the slowly fading sunlight. I noticed the lack of sunlight and curiously walked over to the window and looked out. Ominous clouds were gathering in the sky a slight breeze blew, giving a sign of only a little rain or thunderstorm.

Washing my dishes I thought I heard a little boom from a ways away but I ignored it thinking it was just some thunder. I high sound followed not to long after it, I shook my head thinking my mind was just playing games with me, I never really did like storms.

Sitting down on my patterned couch I picked up a book on the side-table beside me flicked on my lamp and began to read. Darker and darker it got outside louder and louder the booms got, the wind picked up blowing bits of paper and leaves around. The more and more scared I got, my mind raced of question not allowing me to concentrate on my book. I set it down and got up to go to the window, I gasped as I saw the clouds coming, they were black, endless, and consuming. They covered houses after a few houses it covered was when a boom would ring out. It came closer and closer until I realized I had to get out of there.

But it was to late it consumed my house not allowing me to see anything outside, fear churned in my belly making me shake. I ran to the door, trying to open it, it wouldn't budge I slammed on it but I knew it was no use. So I waited until I heard the boom, which was the last thing I heard until everything went silent and black.

Opening my eyes everything was poorly lit, but I could see many ponies around me I stood up shakily for my legs were weak. I felt weight on my neck and hooves I looked down and saw chains, I was chained to a post! Some crying could be heard throughout the Crystal Kingdom citizens. Scanning the area that we were in I tried the figure out where exactly we were, I noticed the centre of where the Crystal Heart was supposed to be. Then it hit me, we were right by the castle, it looked not right to me, it was sad filled with darkness, everyone’s happiness had gone leaving there manes flat and dull. Sitting back down I waited to see if there would be anyone who would come out and tell us what in the wide world of Equestria was going on.

Mostly everypony was up now, either panicking or to shocked to do or say anything. I waited and wait until finally I hear hoofsteps coming closer. It was a unicorn with what seemed to be metal armour a red robe, some sort of crown thing, a black mane and tail, red horn, and red eyes. Nothing could be heard throughout the chained ponies as they all waited for the unicorn to speak. He had a low voice and addressed “My subjects, you must call me KING Sombra and do what I say or else.... I am your ruler now so respect and bow whenever I am near from now on”

It had a deep growl in it too, but I was shocked and so was everyone else gasps echoed through the chained crowd. “Your new job is to help push these wheels!” His horn lit up and he was gone. Everypony looked at each other wondering if they should do it or not. Flinching as King Sombra's voice boomed throughout the area saying to work, we all raced towards the long poles sticking out and began to slowly move the wheel. None of us new what is was doing, we all just wanted to go back to our homes where is was safe.

We worked for hours with no break, all of us were exhausted but if anyone of us stopped they would disappear and come back a few minutes after. No one talked, they were scared to, I was too. The whole Kingdom except for King Sombra hoped and wished for someone to rescue us. The little ones were forces to lug items back and forth non-stop, we were all sympathizing for one another.

Darkness that's all that was there, I was hot, tired but I kept moving I just wanted to stop but I knew I shouldn't. My mind filled with paranoia I just wanted to scream, so I had to keep myself from doing so. I had no clue what was happening, I just wanted to get out of there. I bet everypony else was thinking the same thing. I shook my head multiple times I’m sure I looked crazy but many others had been taken away for being insane so I tried to control my thoughts even though they wandered like mad.

Pain began to form taking over my whole body, I couldn't stop though I didn't want to be taken away. The ponies who came back from wherever had red marks on them, and I didn't like that sign. So I pushed and pushed growing slower and slower, I realized that I had begun to squint from brighter light. My heart thumped hoping it was a rescuer, everypony seemed to stop not even caring anymore. I saw a white wing, then a blue one, my mind searched for who they could be. Celestia and Luna! All of us seemed to give a smile knowing we would be free from King Sombra.
