Piercing Spear, a royal soldier for Princess Celestia's new army, had been scheduled for deployment right on the front line of the Griffon war. He has just one week to go before he leaves, but there isn't anypony to help see him off, or anything to look forward to when he returns. He fillyfriend just broke up with him and his mother the last remaining member of his family, died by heart attack. Through drinking and magic he tries to drown out his sorrows, only to catch the eye of the bartender responsible for drunkening him up.
