Long road home

Ch. 2

In the farthest area of Equestria, north of canterlot, in the dragon kingdom sits a pacing dragon clothed in fine robes alone in his cave lined with richly furniture, jewels and gems. He slams his fist in irritation.

“Great just great that boy just couldn’t stay at the castle and out of the way, the councils going to throw a fit, their going to be like ‘excellent he gets another way to make a fool of himself’ and then they will all look at me and expect me to make a reason on why this is a good thing and I’ll have nothing.” Turning from the desk dramatically. “What am I going to do with him?” Out of the blue he hears the sound of beating wings.

“Why hello little brother.” And thin wiry Dark blue dragon lands gently in the cave. “And how are you today Nathaniel?” Nathaniel turns around to face him nostrils flaring.

“Oh great if things weren’t bad enough captain do nothing shows up.” Still raging and grumbling under his breath and smoke fumes wafting out his nostrils. The older dragon laughs “now what has you in such a foul mood?” Still smirking the older dragon follows Nathan. Nathaniel turns back to the desk and hands him the letter “that’s why william.” In a frustrated voice

“ahh young andris is getting an advancement ehh.” William chuckles. Nathan turns to face the taller sibling. “Can’t you take anything serious?” Turns back to the desk and sits down, William’s face softens and the smirk fades away. “Of course I can but you need to relax this isn’t the end of the world…or your career he knows what he’s doing he’s been doing this for what 10 years now.”

Nathan sighs “yeah you’re right he does good work but that doesn’t mean the council won’t get off my back.”

“Alright Nathan” he looks at Nathaniel with sympathy. “Think of it like this the council despised belorith right?” Nathan turned in shock from him uttering that name and he huffs

“He’s a disgrace to the family name do you have any decency or do you like stressing me even more.” As Nathaniel finished his sentence William raised his fist as to strike him stopping himself softly says “you have some nerve to insult a decorated soldier like him.” Nathan stands up insulted.

“He’s no soldier he didn’t fight and he denoced those medals he so called earned the only thing he was good at…” he looks at William defiantly.

William hovers over him “what saving lives?.. you don’t know him do you or you have known that he hated taking lives or letting he’s own men get injured and the others his whole goal in the war was to make sure that the injured got attention and that as many men as possible survived you have no idea how it was like in that civil war father against son, brother and sister, it was horrid I’m still traumatized,  I couldn’t imagine what he went through you know he went to the most dangerous parts of the war where the possibility of anyone to live was less than zero only a few men made it out of there him being one of them and I took a real man to deny the few lives he did take and for the rewards of saving live of people he only did it because that’s how he is and yes he did drop he’s family name so he won’t get the spot light.” he’s  expression softens laughing a little at a joke belorith once told him.

“It’s hard to get hired as a body guard if your royal they’d wanna protect you instead eh.” A flash back after the war of him and belorith and a few military buddies. a figure about 7 feet tall muscle bound dark blue hide and a red spine raised a mug of whiskey and gulps it down like nothing and smiles “and that would hurt my pay check.” Laughs full hardily “another round for everyone here.”

William snaps back to reality with Nathan stare at him like he’s crazy. “ahh well yeah I’m sorry Will your right I don’t know him like you do I was too young but what I did hear was that he was just like andris.” Chuckles “stupid, reckless, he showed his emotions plain on his face and he always tried to make everyone happy and yes they did hate him they still do they believed him unworthy to be born in the family and that he was a waste of dna I don’t know maybe they are right maybe they’re wrong but I also heard he was a amazing soldier and a go friend I wish he was here.” He sits down resting his chin on his hands and william comes up behind him “yeah me too……… but we could go hang with him if you would take me up on camping he always manages to pull himself away from his new bride to hang with me and andris.” Nathanial turns to see William with a crocked smile.

“WAIT WHAT sine when was belorith married?” William smiles “well you know when he went away to protect that princess of the wolfs?” Nathaniel crooks his head “yeah princess Abatha lady of the fang I did a political meeting with her once he married her, that’s crazy she’s a whole another species the council would never agree with that.” William turned around “your right they didn’t but he did it anyway and they and our father banished him.” Nathan looks down “I had now idea” will walks up to him “no one does they made sure of it they branded him a traitor and he was no longer allowed in this domain frankly he doesn’t care he happy where he is the only thing he misses if us so next time I give you an invitation for camping say yes.” he looks out the cave mouth “ well I need to head out and I’ll see ya later bro night.” with later we walks out and takes off to the sky

“Well fuck I don’t know what to do life’s a cruel one huh?” and with that he climbs in to bed dreading the next day.
