1,015 years ago, a powerful unicorn known as King Sombre ruled the Crystal Kingdom. He enslaved the populace, using them to fuel his insatiable lust for crystals and stairs. Luck was never on his side though, and his victory didn’t last long. Seeing this tragedy unfold, the Princesses of Equestria turned him to shadow, and banished him to the frozen North. However, 15 years ago he returned. Hoping to prevent a repeat of the incident of the past, Captain Shining Armor, Princess Cadence, and the six Elements of Harmony were dispatched to defuse the situation. Sombre didn’t realize that times had changed. He was quickly defeated by the Crystal Ponies. Since then, Equestria and the Crystal Kingdom have enjoyed peace and prosperity with a strong bond having been built between the two nations.
