Mommy made me my favorite breakfast, and I went to the carnival with Daddy! I had the time of my life! He bought me my favorite blue cotton candy and we rode the little swirly tea cups and stuff like we usually do, but today he let me ride the merry-go-round! I used to be too small for it, but he said I'm a big grown-up pony now! I couldn't stop smiling! It was so magical! Being ten is the best! I wonder what other grown-up things I can do now! Bye! _______________________________________________________ 06/15/2002 Dear Diary... I'm so excited to be going to my new school! Daddy told me the ponies that go there are grown-up, too! Just like me! I don't have to go to the school for little ponies anymore! I'm not a little pony! I'm going the be best friends with everyone! I wish summer vacation was over already. It's the only thing keeping me from making friends. Daddy says that I should enjoy my youth, and not rush things. I think it's because he's old. Silly Daddy. _______________________________________________________ 08/06/2002 Dear Diary... Sorry I haven't written in you for a while. I've just been having so much fun in the summer sun! Daddy had the idea that all of us should go down to the beachfront and rent a hotel for a few weeks. Mommy didn't want to at first, but then I gave her the puppy dog eyes. Nopony can resist the puppy dog eyes. Besides, summer vacation's almost over. (Thank Goodness.) Daddy says we should have one last bit of summer fun. I agree with him. Daddy always has the best ideas. I love you, Daddy. _______________________________________________________ 08/08/2002 Dear Diary... This hotel is the best! We get free breakfast every day and the ocean is right outside our window! I can even smell the fresh, salty air even if the windows are closed! Daddy and Mommy fought a little bit on the way over, but I guess it's because they've been together so long. Daddy says that not fighting every now and then is unhealthy, because Mommy and him need each other so they can calm down from it all. Daddy's so smart. I think he's even smarter than Mommy. He's taught me so many things, and tomorrow, he's going to teach me all about seashells! I even get to take one home with me! _______________________________________________________ 08/29/2002 Dear Diary... It's been a couple of weeks, and Daddy says it's time to go home. I like the hotel thing. We should do it more often. It really is like a home away from home. Me and Mommy are going to pack our things while Daddy goes down to something called the "Regarstrater" Office to sign us out of here. I'll make sure to pack my super cool conch shell that me and Daddy found. I forgot to tell you about it. I can hear the ocean when I put it up to my ear. He said we'd have to do it while Mommy's at work, because she doesn't want us to go. That's a little mean of her. I'm going to eat my dinner! I almost forgot how good that blue cotton candy tasted. Yum! It almost fell out of my hooves when I was riding the merry-go-round. That has to be my favorite ride in the whole wide world. I rode it seven times. When we were leaving, I started to cry a little bit. I didn't want to see the carnival go away. Daddy bent down and gave me a hug. He told me not to worry, and that it would be back before I knew it. I hope he's right. I love that place. I love that place just as much as I love Daddy, if that's even possible. _______________________________________________________ 09/08/2002 Dear Diary... Today was the first day of school. It wasn't what I expected at all... All the ponies that go there are really mean... They all made fun of me because I don't have my cutie mark yet... None of the wanted to be friends with dumb old Trixie. Except for one. His name is Star Dust. He was lonely, like me. He was sitting at the lunch table all by himself, so I decided to sit with him and try one last time to make a friend. He's a Unicorn, just like me! We talked about a bunch of stuff. I told him about the carnival, my favorite blue cotton candy, and the merry-go-round! He said we should go there the next time it's in town! I think me and him will be best friends forever! At first I hated this school, but now I love it. I really do. Daddy tucked me in a few minutes ago and kissed me on the forehead. He said "Good Night" and called me his little angel. I laughed and reminded him not to call me little. I love Daddy. I love my diary. I love my new school. I love my new friend. My life is just splendid. Everypony is such a snob there. They think they're the best just because they've been practicing magic since they were little. I really hate ponies like that. They're just like the ones at my old school. The only difference? No Star Dust. It really sucks that he had to move to Ponyville. Why couldn't he stay? We could be going to Magic School together... Bah. Doesn't help to think like that. His parents probably couldn't afford it anyway. Also, I know It's probably not healthy to talk about this much, but I miss Daddy. I miss him so much. Last night I buried myself under the covers and cried. I just let the tears and the sadness flow right out of me. Too bad I couldn't sleep, on account of my blanket being soaked. Why is it that everything good has to come to an end eventually? Is this some kind of cruel joke that's being played on me? If so, it's not funny. Not one bit. _____________________________________________________ 11/23/2009 I'm back again. It's midterm week... We have to do some sort of spectacular levitation spell, and I don't nearly have the time nor concentration to pull it off... I'm thinking of doing that thing we talked about... I know it's risky, and I know that I'd be abandoning a lot, but I feel like this might be a real course of action. Of course, I'll have failed Daddy... Rats. Mother's calling. I've had it with the fact that I've failed my midterm, and had everypony laugh at me. I've had it with the fact that I have nopony to call my friend. But most of all, I've had it with the fact that Daddy's been dead for seven years, all because of that drunken moron with a knife. I'm going to do it. I'm going to run away. I'll take the money that Daddy left me for Magic School. I know I'll have failed him, but somehow, I know he'll understand. Come with me, Mr. Diary. I knew they would! I don't have to sleep on the cold streets anymore! I had to speak with the manager, (Who was seemingly never around.) and explain my situation. I think he understood that I had nowhere else to go. It was either that, or the puppy dog eyes. He's a generous man, nonetheless. He's having me performing magic shows every day. I'll have the help from some fireworks and some kind of poofy powder. It's pretty neat, and it'll make up for my lack of magical knowledge until I can learn a little on my own. Best of all, I'll get paid. It's not much, but enough to keep me going once Daddy's money runs out. _____________________________________________________ 12/24/2009 Well Mr. Diary, it's Hearth's Warming Eve. I'm all alone, except for you. I remember a few years ago, when me and Daddy made hot cocoa together while Mommy was in her drunk slumber. It was so delicious. It warmed me right up, and prepared me for when we would go out and watch the stars. They were so beautiful that night. Radiantly glistening in the night sky. As if every star knew it was being viewed, and wanted to look it's best for me. I slept more comfortably that night than I did in my entire life. Everything came together perfectly. The time with Daddy, the cocoa, the stars, and the exciting curiosity of tomorrow's presents. Mommy just got me some dumb old socks, but Daddy's present was the best. He got me my very own magician's hat and cloak. They were covered in stars. It even came with a little wand. That was the best present I've ever received. I've worn it every day, ever since I got my Cutie Mark. It was the first time I'd ever cast a spell. It was a simple illumination spell, but Daddy helped me learn it. He waved my wand, told me how to concentrate and clear my mind, and I just... Did it. Naturally. The next thing I knew, it was right there on my flank. What a magical day for it to happen... I can feel Daddy's presence. I feel as though he's been looking after me, from up above... Hah. I'm getting to be a bit depressing here, aren't I, Mr. Diary? Don't worry. Everything's going to be alright. Daddy promised. _____________________________________________________ 01/22/2010 Hey again. I bought some blue cotton candy and rode the merry-go-round after work... I almost couldn't do it. I was crying the whole time, and everypony looked at me like I was a freak. I certainly feel like one, I'll tell you that much. I closed my eyes and remembered the first time I ever rode that wonderful contraption... Daddy told me that I was big enough, and that meant the world to me. Nothing could stop me. I was a happy little filly without a care in the world. Now look at me. I'm nothing but a clown. I never really feel alone anymore, though. I always feel like Daddy's with me, somehow. Oh. I know. He's with me when I wear this outfit. He's with me when I do my magic. But most importantly... He's with me... Even if that friend is a horribly tattered book like you. It's all gone, Diary. The carnival's just... Disbanded. I still have some of Daddy's money, plus however much I've earned over the years of being a magician. I also have my mobile cart, which I've been living in for the past five months. It's filled with a ton of fireworks and poofy powder I used to use for my acts. I'm all alone, Diary. I'm all by myself in the forest. I sincerely think my life is over. Nopony loves me anymore. Nopony even wants to give dumb ol' Trixie the time of day... I'm just going to jump into bed and cry myself to sleep... _____________________________________________________ 11/03/2012 WHY ME? WHY DID I HAVE TO GET ROBBED? All of my money is gone. Gone, gone, gone. Somepony just waltzed into my cart and took all of my savings while I was out today. Even Daddy's pile of bits... Everywhere you turn, there's always that one narcissistic pony looking to inconvenience you. Always somepony watching, waiting for you to slip up just for a moment, so they can take away all you've worked for in the blink of an eye. This is it. This is the last straw. I'm done being this disgusting excuse for a mare. No more Trixie Lulamoon. I even hate that last name. It was Mother's. The old Trixie is dead. I'm a new pony, Diary. I'll be strong, just like Daddy taught me. I'll be... Great and Powerful. _____________________________________________________ 11/11/2012 Diary, I've formulated a plan that'll help keep me going. I'll travel town to town and put on my own magic shows! That way I can make enough money to keep myself fed until I can afford someplace to settle down. I'll gradually work my way toward Ponyville. That's where Star Dust moved, remember? It was quite a while ago. I hope he's still there. You have no idea how good it would feel to see him again. I wonder if he's changed. You never know. Maybe he won't be so welcoming. I do know one thing, though. Once The Great and Powerful Trixie makes her appearance, nopony will be able to look away. They'll know that they're in for the time of their lives once The Great and Powerful Trixie stuns their minds and shatters the barriers of what they thought was mere magic. I'm coming, Star Dust. Please be there. You're my last chance. _____________________________________________________ 12/03/2012 I've parked myself in the hills, a bit away from Ponyville. I'm almost there, Diary. I've come such a long way. My hooves are positively aching from weeks of traveling, but my destination is in sight. The population looks plentiful from up here. I'm sure I'll have the whole town's attention once I roll in and begin to flaunt my various illusions and such. I never thought my career could have ever been this illustrious. I'm sure Daddy's proud of me now. I'm going to make my way down to Ponyville tomorrow. I love you, Daddy. Thank you for always being there for me. _____________________________________________________ 12/04/2012 I... Don't know what to say. I've never been so embarrassed in my entire life. I rolled into Ponyville and started my show. Everypony was absolutely loving it! The fireworks flew, the poofy powder puffed everywhere, and they were absolutely speechless. I... Suppose I got a little too egotistical, diary. I was getting big-headed, showing off and all, announcing that I was the most magical unicorn in all of Equestria. I even told them that I defeated an Ursa Major! Star Dust wasn't even there, either! Then these two moronic colts bring one into the town... Just because they thought I could defeat it again! I had to admit that I'd never done it before! It turns out it was only an Ursa Minor, but it was absolutely gargantuan. It snarled in my face, Diary... I was so scared... I wanted to scream for Daddy... Then that purple one, Highlight Marker, something or other, put it to sleep and laid it to rest in the Everfree Forest. Everypony cheered for her, and not for me. The Great and Powerful Trixie. Looks like I'm not so Great and Powerful now. I swear to you, Diary. I swear upon my father's grave that I WILL get revenge on her. Oh, I'll be back.
