"You okay Rainbow?"

Her actions betrayed her. You'd catch her shivering on occasion, and you'd swear she was sweating. Not to mention her wings had held that extended state for a while now.

Deciding it'd be better to drop the matter, you went about fixing lunch. She was content to sit on the couch, actively denying that anything was wrong. In the year you've lived here, you've become good friends with a number of ponies. Rainbow Dash was easily your best friend though, and it was bothering you to see her in such discomfort. You knew she could be stubborn, but at what point do you intervene and tell her that the act is up?
Might as well play along, she won't give up the charade so easy. You continued making some sandwiches for the two of you, trying your best to put the image of her shivering out of your mind. When you came back to the living room with two delicious peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, you couldn't help but think that she seemed slightly... bloated? Setting the plate down in front of her, it took her a moment to realize you'd done so.
"You sure you're--"
"Yeah, I'm fine! What's got you so worried anyways, sheesh."

"Alright, let's hear it" you said as you wiped the paste off of her face.
"I... Uhhh..." She was having a hard time coming up with an excuse, as you figured she would. What really caught your attention though, was her reaction to your wiping her face. Her tail and one of her ears twitched, along with her eyes dilating.
"Alright, the gigs up Dash" you said as you cleaned the last bit of peanut butter off of her face. "You're not well; you should go home and get some rest."

You said your goodbyes and continued on your way to the market, eager to get your shopping for the day done with. Not that the ponies were bad company or anything, but Fluttershy was still on the loose, and your protector was sick. Better safe than sorry.
As you were continuing your walk, it occurred to you that Rarity might be done fixing your jeans you'd torn the other day. Seeing as you had nothing better to do, you decided to make a small detour on your way back home. After a rather uneventful visit to the market, you stopped by the square to try and score some cider for your sick friend. Behind the counter were two ponies you'd come to know rather well: Applejack and her little sister, Applebloom.
"Well howdy there Anonymous. What brings you to our stall?"
"Hey there AJ. I was wondering, do you have some cider?"
"Cider? I reckon there's some left, yeah. You want some?"
"I'd like to get some, yeah. Rainbow was a little under the weather earlier, and I think cider might be just the thing to cheer her up."
"Say no more, Anon. One bottle of cider comin right up." As AJ went about digging through the cabinet, Applebloom finally piped up.
"Heya Anon!"
"Hey Applebloom."
"Is Rainbow gonna be alright?"

Resolving to not pursue the matter further, you thanked the ponies for the cider and continued on to Rarity's boutique. Surprised by the apparent lack of rape attempts, you decided to keep guarded on the short walk. If Fluttershy hadn't tried something already, it's likely she was planning something big. "Because she does stupid stunts that land her in the hospital, and she never cooperates with me. I tend to have other patients to tend to. Moving on though, what bug has she gotten herself now?"
"I really wish you two could play nice together. But uh, I'm not too sure what she's come down with. She was shivering and sweating, over-reacted to little things and all that."
"Sounds like stress more than anything."
"There was something else though. She seemed kind of... well, bloated, I guess. That and she had some kind of episode right before I sent her home."

The two of you talked a bit more as you walked, but you couldn't help being distracted by what she'd said earlier. Rainbow? Lovesick? For you? Nah. No way. Couldn't be. The two of you were friends, that's all! You were still mulling over that thought after saying goodbye to Red Heart.
Even as you put your groceries away, you couldn't stop yourself from thinking back on the events that had transpired earlier today. Thinking about it, she had been acting rather strange before today. Maybe she really was interested in you like that... But she was your friend! Your best friend!

While it was drying in the laundry room, you went about making yourself some dinner. It was a familiar lonely dinner. Not that you minded, really. You had good friends, a decent job, and some quality neighbors.

”Don't worry about it Dash, you weren't feeling well. No harm no foul."
"Yeah... Wasn't feeling well. Right."
You continued making some pancakes as well as your inquiry. "So you ever figure out just what was wrong?"

"Really? Something I can help with?" you asked as you finished cooking your current breakfast pastry.
"I think so, actually."
