One thousand years ago, before his imprisonment at the hooves of the Celestial Sisters, King Sombra was once a noble and just ruler of the Crystal Empire, revered for his formidability and leadership whenever it came to battling opposing nations, and his compassion for his subjects. However, when the Crystal Empire is at the height of its peaceful life under his reign, a new force threatens to destroy the sanctity of the Empire, as well as Equestria. King Sombra is now forced to pull all the stops, as well as use a dangerous, almost forbidden form of magic, if he wishes to succeed in stopping the horror that is the Netherstallions.
