Chapter 1: It's not for me

(Thank you for your precious time for my valiant attempt at writing and I apologize in advance if this chapter is awful. Not a self inserts)
My name is David Holmes, yes an unusual name in your world, but I shan’t change it, nor abandon it, for you see I am not of the like you have ever seen nor heard before, because you see I am what you know as ‘human’ An other worldly creature came to your world in an events which I’ll explain later in the story, but right now I’d like to cover the events that transpired before I came here that may have led up to me coming here, just subtle events that weren’t of much significance to me, but were major in my arrival here.
The first of these events actually happened a week before my arrival, this was a minor event, actually it was scheduled a month before, but if I went over every detail they may have led up to my arrival we’ll never actually get to me ‘arriving’ so lets begin shall we?
The time was 20:27. The sun was set to make way for the moon, people were dressing for the evening, and children were beginning to tire of the day and were prepared to sleep for the night, I on the other hand was outside in the cold as I greeted guests into my home. The reason for this was simple. I was having a party, or to be more specific my father was having a party, his sixty eight birthday, and I plan on celebrating it whether he wanted to or not.
As I shook hands, kissed cheeks and welcomed guests, Celestia forbid my wife read this but my eyes fell on an extremely attractive woman, her skin was dark brown, just as were her hair, her form was voluptuous, but one of her most capturing features however, as cliché as it sounds were her eyes, they were a magnificent royal blue. This was quite odd now that I think about, how despite her attractive body one of the things that caught my attention were her eyes, but I digress.
My eyes stayed glued to the attractive woman for quite awhile, longer one is supposed to look at someone actually, and I had a wide grin to go along with it, if that didn’t scream ‘scary, I don’t know what does. Then it was time to greet ‘her’. There she was standing in front of me, her eyes locked with mine as she held her hand out for a shake, and she didn’t receive, all she got was an attractive man (If I may say so myself) staring at her, was there anyway this situation could get anymore worse for me? Why yes, yes it can.
“Stop ogling David, we have guests.” Said my mother, before taking the woman’s hand in her own and shaking it vigorously. For once I didn’t mind my mothers consistency to arrive at the wrong time and continued, as my mother would put it ‘ogle’.
