Twilight Sparkle awoke around mid-morning. She never was an early riser, but being at Rainbow Dash's party last night didn't help. Twilight had managed to arrive home about sunrise that morning and had slept like a log since. She dragged herself lazily out of bed, getting a sharp pain in her hip. The memories of that last night slowly coming back. She'd had another conflict with Rainbow Dash and the mare had slapped her when Twilight suggested she stop making out with her newest mare-friend and try to get her life back together. Twilight had been trying to get her friends back together ever since they all separated, so far she had made 234 attempts. She had counted. She'd plotted them all down to every-minute detail and so far none had even been a remote success, including last nights attempt to get Rainbow Dash to invite Pinkie to the party. The only thing it brought the elements of harmony was a bruised hip and a sprained hoof.
Twilight looked around her room, searching for Spike. Clearly she was hung over. "In the name of Celestia, where are you Spike?" she called, trying to keep calm. There was no answer, just as usual. Then the purple mare remembered; her number one assistant had moved back to Canterlot.
She eventually decided to climb down the ladder to her work desk. The library was now covered in failed schemes and half finished plots. You couldn't even see a single book except for the one Twilight always kept by her desk- The Big Book of Dark Magic. Since so many of her plans had failed she had started to get desperate. Once again she had snuck into the great library in Canterlot. Only this time she had stolen this book, the only book she now read.
She sat down in the chair for her desk and started to write a new plot. Maybe this time she could bring Applejack and... Rainbow Dash together! They always were pretty close!
Meanwhile in Ponyville's primary shopping area, Fluttershy desperately searched around for her so-called friends. So-called because she wasn't even sure she had them anymore. Mrs. Cake had just told her in a solemn, quiet tone that Pinkie Pie was no longer allowed to work at Sugarcube Corner. Since when would Pinkie Pie lose her job? That mare loved nothing more than baking a delicious treat for her friends! Then again, Pinkie Pie was probably still angry at Fluttershy for all those rumours. They weren't even partially true, in no universe could Rainbow Dash seduce Fluttershy at a party!
Right?
Twilight was on edge. After twenty-three and a half minutes with not even the slightest of success with her plans she started twitch a little. So far her plans had consisted of the normal ways to bring ponies together, but as her hoof started to jitter towards The Big Book of Dark Magic. It wasn't going to last long. This always ended up happening, being a perfectionist like Twilight had become can make things very hard to do things the natural way. Just look at Winter Wrap Up! Before she'd become organizer, she'd failed over and over and finally broke the rules deliberately. And Twilight Sparkle NEVER broke rules. Well, almost never. She clenched to the book like a lifeline and pulled it quickly to her chest, half hugging it as she started to place it onto her desk. She stared at it for a good five seconds, not daring to open it.
"No...no, I cant do it," she said to herself, a bad attempt to remind herself of her previously well known morals. After a couple more moments she placed a hoof on the cover and slowly opened to a page at random.
"Maybe just one spell!" she said, a slight squeak in her voice as the book opened to page 135, glaring at the page as the cover hit the desk in a thud, being a heavy book. Twilight scanned the page, she new what to do. She quickly grabbed her coat and went outdoors, heading for Dash's place. Unlike her other friends who were scarred and disfigured she had managed to keep her normal image, though she was a bit rough round the edges. She knew Dash's schedule, and if she hadn't had any complications today it would be simple. After tossing out the mare she had been with that night, Rainbow Dash would go and do her morning stunt to let people know that she was still alive, then she would head back home and either get herself hyped up on Celestia-knows-what, or teach Scootaloo a little- depending on her unpredictable mood.
Twilight couldn't help but sob as she made her way to Dash's, old memories, good and bad, flooding back to her in a wave of emotion. It suddenly stopped.
"Come on, Twilight, you must be in control...always in control..." she uttered to herself as she stopped a short way from her destination. Her craving to always be in control was kicking in, even effecting how she displayed her emotions. But that was okay, she had a good feeling about today. If Dash wouldn't listen then she may have to take drastic measures, but as long as her friends got back together she didn't care what she needed to do. It had to be done.
As Twilight reached the house of Rainbow Dash, she spied one of Rarity's care packages squashed on the floor with small splatters of blood around it.
"Why does Dash have to be so violent?" she asked nobody in particular as she started to conjure a wing spell. Twilight had become quite proficient with the wing spell, now being able to make pretty much any pair of wings she wanted. They were also allot stronger than her first attempt, but of course they were still not up to par with anything a pegasus had. She gave herself a mimic pair of pegasi wings, nothing fancy, and floated effortlessly up to Rainbow Dash's house. She went through the open window that Dash and Scootaloo had previously exited out of, and landed in the kitchen.
"What a mess...." she uttered to herself, exploring the kitchen while looking at all the empty energy drinks and half eaten meals. It was a pig sty, to say the least. Twilight cleared herself a small spot on the couch, watching that she didn't sit on anything she didn't recognize, and waited for Dash.
