Manehatten.Part 3.5

Previous Chapter

: Pauric and Patrick began on the long walk to the castle. The city was huge. They did not stop at any locations they passed. They were focused on their goal. They reached the castle gates and were greeted with a hero's welcome. They were allowed an audience with the princess of canterlot: Celestia. The two briefed the princess on the situation of their two friends but their pleas for help fell on deaf ears. The princess did not care for silly matters such as this to save only two people, but was more focused on the situation in Manehatten which is a valued city near canterlot. The people there were of great value to her for reasons she will not mention but she won't send guards out there as a small group of guards going alone would be suicide. She believes that they are different however though, as Patrick is a former commander of the rainbow knights and Pauric an unchallenged mage with magic to match that of even the princess’ apprentice Twilight, who was unfortunately consumed by the darkness. You would stand a far better chance of survival. The Mysterious dark entities that have been slaughtering thousands have arrived at the city now, and will kill everything in sight. The princess can teleport you to the center of Manehatten. You will have to Save as many people as possible and find a permanent solution to protect them.(For this you can Play as either Pauric or Patrick Choose wisely) what should you do?

Play as Pauric.

(In the eyes of Pauric): And without hesitation a bright light blinded our eyes and in a flash they disappeared into thin air. The Princess wished us good luck. Unbeknownst to us a strange entity was watching us. It gave a sinister smile and dissipated into the shadow. The skies were dark with little to no light coming from the moon. The atmosphere was evil and the air smelled of death. The smoke choked life itself around the town. The town had seen better days. A sign which said Welcome to Manehatten had become unrecognizable because of the darkness and blood that covered it. I remembered this city when I was young. It was a very lively town. I used to buy my alchemy supplies in here when I was an apprentice. It was a busy magic filled city ever since the college was built here. It even rivaled Canterlot as the magic capital of Equestria. I had even attended the college for a time and it was truly magical. It all had changed now. The Princess reluctantly had to ban the dark arts after a few experiments went wrong to keep the people from being harmed .Any that still practiced black magic still had to flee to the everfree forest. Many tales of zombie ponies, skeletons walking around and a mysterious pony with no face who takes people called the slender-mare. Countless heroes were sent to investigate but none had ever come back. It was considered a danger zone. I turned around and was saddened by the site. I could see Patrick was even more upset. I could understand. It was his home after all.

I already had an Idea for the protection of the town. A barrier. A forcefield would mean that nopony could get in or out but a magical barrier could be changed to discriminate between species and would not need as much surveillance as it only needs to be cast once to be permanent unless destroyed. I would need a lot of time and some samples of the Figures that we keep being attacked by. I have yet to name them, something like: the forgotten or shadows or something like that. Patrick seemed to be a million miles away, but this is no time for that. I shoved him and pointed to the college. That's where any residents who didn't run would have hid. My assumptions seemed even more likely as we stood outside the college walls. The gates were open and outside the door to the main building stood three cloaked figures bashing furiously at it. It seems light keeps them at bay, I wonder if it touched them what it would do? Patrick gotten his gun out, waiting for me to give the signal. What should we do?

Use light magic!

:It made sense that light magic should be used. I took Patrick’s gun and the bullets in his bag. Using a little of my magic I enchanted the bullets with a blinding light. I used a basic light spell but put a ton of power into it so it would shine as if the sun were out. The shadow figures turned around and were momentarily stunned. Being a good shot, Patrick shot the three of them accurately. They melted into black liquid like substance. I gathered the samples and put them inside a container which Patrick had in his bag. Patrick looked at the college with a grim disposition. After all this was where his special somepony attended school. I knew this because I was a friend of hers. She was taken by the darkness on the first day and I’m sure that was hard for him. I put my emotions aside to focus on the task at hand; if I was going to examine the samples I would need a lab. The college was known to be a hub for alchemy. It was no surprise how the great alchemist Gemstone taught here. We had to get in.

Patrick noticed a window on the top of the college that was open. It'd probably be the best bet seeing as every entrance not open would be protected with magical energies. He could easily fly up and open the door on the inside. Patrick got airborne and went through the window. He landed on the floor without a sound (continue as Patrick for a bit)I examined the room. Almost all of the room was filled with light emitting orbs. The people here were obviously onto the effect light has on those things too. There was nothing in this room worth taking. I could continue to search for survivors here on my own and leave Pauric outside for a little while. He can easily handle himself and I have enough of those enchanted light bullets to take on at least twenty of those things or I can go and let him in and we can continue together. What should I do?

Go get Pauric, but look around a bit too.

:I could not leave Pauric outside. For fear of what could happen of we separated, but I felt the compelling need to search for any clues as to what happened here. As I walked down the corridor to the door I noticed some of my mare’s classes. Being a Pegasus meant I couldn’t attend here but I often came with my mare just to listen in. The one that stood out the most was my equestrian history class. It brought back memories. I entered the room and almost completely forgot about Pauric. I saw a large shelf with old text books and some artifacts which seemed ancient. The tables were gathering dust and there was nobody to be found. I saw my old teacher's desk. On it were some books and a piece of paper which seemed out of place. The chalk board had "Hope is lost" hastily scribbled on it. It unsettled me. I can just leave or continue to search further. What should I do?

Leave the room and go get Pauric!!!

: I chose to leave the room, it had to many memories. I needed to look for more survivors, but first I had to get Patrick. I continued to walk through to corridor. I just noticed the corridor was dark! It didn't make sense, why would the corridors be dark when the rooms were lighted up? Maybe something got in? I continued with my guard up and began to notice a smell as I approached the main hall. A smell of the most putrid and disgusting things you could imagine, the smell of rotting corpses. Only reasons I can think of for there to be dead bodies here would be that either people didn't make it in on time or necromancy. I kind of hoped it was the first one as necromancy, along with some other dark arts has been banned for years now. My fears were confirmed when I walked into the main hall. There were zombie ponies! That's not right. Their bodies seemed to be beginning to decompose; probably because necromancy spells increase the rate of decay on dead bodies. I saw the puppets, but not the puppeteer. I could probably make a run for the door as long as these guys couldn't sprint or I could just try taking them out. What should I do?

You can’t engage with them there’s too many of them. Just run!

: I thought it would be best to probably not take the zombies on. I just thought of a way to get to Pauric. There was a window beside the main door. I made a run for the window; I sprinted to the window and unlocked it. The zombies had noticed me at this time now and I panicked and tried to get out as fast as possible. I was bitten on one of my hooves. I tried to break free but one of the zombies was biting down on my leg not allowing me to escape. I knew it wouldn't kill me unless told by its master and that I couldn't turn unless I died. I was dragged along the blood-soaked ground. In my moment of captivity I saw the figure that was controlling the zombies. Now I know why the classrooms were lighted up it wasn't to keep these shadow things from getting in, it was to keep this thing from getting out! I screamed as my whole world became black (continue as Pauric) There was a scream in the college. It sounded like Patrick. I noticed the window was open. I could now get in. I should check on Patrick but I should get inside first. What should I do?

Just get in the frickin’ window and save Patrick!

: I entered the college through the window as it was the only available entrance. I used minor invisibility spell as I only needed to be slightly camouflaged in this darkness. As I entered the main hall nearly vomited when I saw my surroundings. Corpses were scattered among the place and an undeniable smell covered the room. Loud moans were heard through the corridor. I peaked at the corner. I saw a frail and decaying pony. It turned around and I saw it had only one eye. It was too horrible to look at. I knew these were zombies, being one of the only still living mages to graduate when dark magic was taught. I quickly realized that this was pure necromancy, a pure crime against pony nature.
I looked around the building to examine any clues to the whereabouts of Patrick. Most of the rooms were covered in rotting corpses. Some moving, some not. The floor in the main hall is covered in pools of blood and there is a very noticeable trail as if someone was dragged along the floor can be seen leading upstairs into a dark corridor. I could hear the screaming no longer and no living things were in sight. Light would do nothing against the corpses and most of my spells to attack them would have taken either too long to charge or would not have been felt due to lack of any feeling in their bodies and Patrick was probably in a lot of trouble and I also have the survivors that need saving to think about. What should I do?

Look for Patrick more thoroughly

: I think if I find Patrick first I will have a bit more of a chance. I think as long as we get to an alchemy lab I can examine the samples I collected and use the data to create a barrier which would expel all of the dark figures from the area as it is cast outward. The result should cancel the necromancy spell as the caster is flung out of range, as long as he is one of them. I think my only lead to finding Patrick Is to follow the trail of blood. I follow it until it cuts off at a wall and seem to go nowhere. Probably some form of trap door or magical cloak is hiding something in this wall. I touch it and my hand goes through the wall, I was right. Hopefully Patrick lied beyond whatever was inside this place. He could be alright but maybe this was a trap. I entered the forcefield. I saw something horrible. It was a disgusting contraption. It was........................T.B.C.
