My Little Pony: Love is Magic
"Oh! Who could that possibly be? My hooves are already full!" Rarity complained, tossing the dresses she was holding onto her love seat. She cantered to the phone, giving it a death stare before answering it.
"What do want?" She grumbled, levitating the phone to her ear using her magic. She was stunned to hear who was on the other line.
"I say," He muttered, offended by her lack of politeness, "Is that REALLY how you greet an old friend, Miss. Rarity?"
"Fancy Pants!?" Rarity squealed, her magical grip on the phone dissolving. It clattered to the floor loudly. "I am so sorry," She apologized, lifting the phone frantically back to her ear.
"For dropping the phone or greeting me without your usual grace?" He said smugly. She could practically hear him grinning on the other line.
"Both!" She giggled, her cheeks reddening. She was suddenly glad he couldn't see her. She was a mess, her hair was chaotic, her makeup was smudged, and her coat was stained. This was all due to the sudden amount of orders at her shop. Each customer brought a deadline with their request.
"Well, Miss. Rarity, you are one hundred percent forgiven." He trilled. Rarity sighed silently, at ease that he wasn't cross with her. After all, she had been quite rude, and she couldn't even begin to imagine the terrible noise the phone made when it fell on the other line.
"Anyhow," He pressed on, clearing his throat, "As always, I called for a specific reason. I need ten dresses made by Monday."
Rarity gasped. "By Monday!? But it's Friday!" She squeaked, biting her lip. The last thing she needed was to fail one of his requests and ruin their friendship.
"Well," He said, sounding quite confused, "That shouldn't be a problem, should it? After all, you do have an assistant, don't you?"
Just at that moment, Spike walked into the boutique. "Hi Rarity!" He smiled like he always did when Rarity was around.
Rarity smiled. "Why yes, I do have an assistant. And, you know what? He's right here!" Rarity chirped, emitting a nervous giggle.
Hoping Spike would take the hint, she passed him the phone. "Spike, why don't you say hello to Mr. Fancy Pants?" She said through gritted teeth.
Spike looked puzzled, but went along with it. "Uh, hi, Fancy Pants." He stuttered, his sentence ending like a question. Rarity glared at him, using her hoof to pretend to slit her neck.
Please be going well... Please be going well... Please be going well! Rarity thought to herself upon hearing the racket on the other line.
"Uh, okay? Bye..." Spike said, sounding quite monotone. He handed the phone to Rarity. "Um, why-"
"What did he say!?" Rarity screamed as soon as the phone was passed to her. She dropped it from her hooves as soon as it was given to her.
"He started yelling at some pony in the background about vanilla on the top and chocolate on the bottom, and then told me he had to go." Spike explained.
"Sweet Celestia..." Rarity mumbled in relief.
"What was that about?" Spike asked, recoiling away from her ever so slightly. It was odd, normally it would be Rarity performing that action to Spike.
"Well, new assistant," She grinned evilly, "You will find out."
My Little Pony: Love is Magic
"That's right..." Rarity observed, her eyes boring into the dress so deeply that it seemed they could pop out and roll across the floor, "Hold it just at that angle..."
Spike was standing on his tippy toes, holding a pink faux dress up to meet Rarity's eye height. It was fluffy and made of fox fur, dyed just the right tint of pink. "Anything for you, Rarity..." Spike mumbled, smiling like an idiot.
Right when Rarity told Spike he'd be her assistant for the whole weekend, he had been acting as if he was her new boyfriend. Rarity was somewhat disgusted by his behaviour, but he was the only assistant she would be able to find in miles, so she decided to suck it up.
"Ugh... You're simply not talk enough for the job." Rarity commented, dropping the glitter she was levitating and letting it explode on the floor. "Go get Sweetie Belle's sink stool from the bathroom and return." And with that, she snatched the dress back from his claws and watched him scamper out of the room.
"He's obedient, I'll give him that..." She groaned, examining at the mess of her dress making room. It was horrifying. Mountains of glitter could be found throughout the room, along with random masses of thin fabrics that had been ripped by Spike's sharp claws.
"Rarity, my love!" He declared, hopping into the room with the stool pulled over his shoulder, "I have returned with the stool!"
She sighed, narrowing her eyes at him. "Just put it over there, Spike." She snipped, pointing a distance away from her.
Spike frowned at the sudden distance away from his crush, but said nothing. Instead, he padded over the requested destination and set up the stool.
They spent the whole day creating, but only one completely original, unique, and beautiful dress was completed. She only had two days to create nine more! How was she EVER going to make them all by Monday!?
"Thanks for your help, Spike." Rarity smiled, not at all thankful for his presence. She did make dressed with him around way faster than she did without, that much was true, but she was less messy with her workspace when she was alone.
"You're welcome, Rarity..." Spike gushed, hearts bubbling around him as he spoke. "Anything for you, Rarity." She smiled kindly at him, a little bit creeped out, but she didn't show it. Instead, she let him ride on her back as she escorted him back to Twilight's house.
