Pinkie Pie gets diabetes?
Chapter 1: Diabeetus?
Load Full StoryNext ChapterPinkie Pie. A sweet loving hyperactive pink earth pony who sports a puffy pink mane that rivals the puffiness of a cloud, donning a cutie mark of three balloons which represented her talent of throwing parties and overall making people happy, trots through the small town of Ponyville towards the home and workplace of one of her best friends in Equestria, Twilight Sparkle. Her face revealed that of a joyful pony, however under the veil of joy and happiness held a pint of worry as she had recently been experiencing certain problems with herself. Which was the reason why she had been heading towards Twilight as she was the smarterests (Yes I know it's not a word) pony that she had ever known and was sure that the smarterests pony she knew would figure out was going on.
As she reached the front door of the town library which was a rather large tree . Pinkie could hear shuffling in the house and the voice of Twilight humming a happy tune. Probably organizing the shelves again... for the second time..... this week. As Twilight was one to be known for having a major problem with being overly obsessive and compulsive. Always wanting to make sure that each book was alphabetized by the name and author and organized into it's specific genre. Yup, she was loved to keep everything neat and tidy. A little too much.
Pinkie Pie raised her hoof and knocked twice and heard the sound of many books tumbling to the floor and then an aggravated moan. The door opened revealing a irritated looking Twilight who looked like she was ready to give whoever disrupted her biweekly organizing a good mouthful but puts on a wide grin as she realizes who it was that came knocking.
"Hello Pinkie! Are you dropping in for a visit?"
"Yes... well no not really... but actually I am technically visiting so that'sayesbutalsoanobecauseIneedhelpwithsomethingbutIamalsoheretovisitsoisthatayesoranoIdon'tknowcanitbecalledayoorisitanesit'ssoconfusingbutIguessit'ssortabothsinceIamvisitongbutalsobecauseIneedhelpwithsomethingandIdon'tknowwhattodoaboutitsoIcametoyouforhelpcausewaitdidImakeyourbooksfallohi'msosorrypleaseforgivemeohIknowi'llthrowyouapartytoapologizeformakingyoudropyourbooksandi'llinviteeveryoneinPonyvilleandwe'llallhavesuchagreattimethere'llbeohsomanygameslikepinthetailonthepo-"
"Uh Pinkie could you please get to the point? Did you say that you needed my help?", Twilight interrupted not wanting Pinkie to pass out from the lack of oxygen from talking too much too fast.
Pinkie Pie blushed slightly and gave an apologetic grin.
"Oops. Hehe, sorry"
"It's alright. Now you said you wanted my help for something? Or did I mishear since you were talking pretty fast."
"Okay. Well I've been having some problems lately involving my...", Pinkie looked left then right before moving closer to Twilight with a tinge of red on her cheeks and whispers to Twilight's ear.
"My body."
The purple pony blushes along with Pinkie and asks, "Pinkie for the last time if you're feeling emotional and you-"
Pinkie shakes her head violently enough for her head to pop of her shoulders. "No! It's not THAT!"
"Then what is it?"
"Well I've had to go to the bathroom a lot lately and also I feel really tingly around my hooves".
Twilight nods to each of the symptoms and heads towards a bookshelf that was marked 'HEALTH CARE'. She scanned through each book before stopping. A wavy purple glow surrounds the tip of her horn and levitates a book from the shelf which was also surrounded with the purple glow. She opens the book with her magic and flips through the book back and forth.
"Aha!", she exclaimed before moving the book towards Pinkie.
"I think I've found what could be wrong with you! Let's see... having to go to the bathroom more than usual... tingling feeling around the hooves..."
Twilight turned the page and gasped.
"Whatwhat'sgoingonistheresomethingwrongwithmepleasetellmenowaitdon'twaityesactuallynoIdon'twanttoknownowwaittellme!" Pinkie asked loudly, clearly frightened about the prospects of discovering anything that could be wrong with her.
"Pinkie please calm down!" Twilight begged as she brought one of her hooves to Pinkies mouth in an attempt to make her stop panicking. It worked. Sorta. Pinkie still talked as Twilight's hoof covered her mouth, all words muffled and inaudible. After realizing that it was no use to keep talking she quieted down and stared at Twilight with saddened but curious eyes.
Twilight sighed, letting go of Pinkie's mouth.
"From what I've gathered from the your symptoms. You appear to have a small case of diabetes." Pinkie gave her a questioning look clearly not knowing what diabetes is, though she has calmed down since being told that whatever she had wasn't life threatening unless action was taken.
"Dia-bee-tus?"
"Diabetes", she corrected. "Diabetes is a disorder of your metabolism when somepony has a high blood sugar level, which isn't surprising for you since you do take a large amount of sugar everyday. In fact you seem to inhale the stuff like a drug."
Pinkie pupils shifted to her left and right remembering an experiment she tested out by taking a straw and inhaling a large mound of powdered sugar. Nothing terrible happened per se besides that she felt light headed and that she was sneezing the stuff for a week. Twilight saw her eyes shift and opened her mouth to ask before just dropping it and thought to herself a phrase that everypony in Ponyville used when it came to the strange enigma known as Pinkie Pie.
Just Pinkie being Pinkie.
"Anyway like I was saying what you have is treatable. However..."
"What?! Whatisittellmenow!"
Twilight sighed once again and prepared for the worst on what she was about to say.
"It means you won't be able to eat as much sweets as you want anymore. You could probably take a cupcake or two a week but that would be it."
Pinkie's pupils shrank to the size of pins. Stuttering, she asked, "F-f-for how long?"
Twilight brought her head down. Bracing for any outcome possible before saying something that chilled Pinkie to the bone.
"Forever"
Before Pinkie's bloodcurdling scream of anguish could be heard by both Cloudsdale and Tartarus, Twilight used her magic and formed a purple dome around Pinkie cutting off any sound that could have damaged her eardrums, shatter every piece of glass in a two mile radius and even make Discord himself cringe in horror. As Pinkie screamed, the dome that Twilight held her in shook and had begun to crack. Seconds into the scream Twilight started worrying about Pinkie damaging her vocal cords and the possibility of her actually breaking the magical shield and causing all that was mentioned to happen.
Several minutes pass before Pinkie stops screaming, but before Twilight lowers the shield she realizes that she was just taking a deep breath only to continue screaming. Before the second lengthy scream begins Twilight forms another shield over the nearly broken shield. Ten more minutes pass before Pinkie finally surrenders and falls to her stomach gasping for the sweet feeling of oxygen. Twilight rolls her eyes at the overly dramatic pony, dropping the shield and levitated a glass of water towards her. The now screamed out Pinkie gladly accepts the drink with a dry thank you before gulping the entire glass. When she is done she stretches her tongue out and attempt to lick whatever liquid is left.
"Are you done?" Twilight asks with a face full of worry and slightly disgusted at the act that Pinkie is performing.
Pinkie puts the glass down and nods at her friend with her eyes closed, clearly saddened by the events that had transpired as her hair had flattened itself out and her usual bright pink coat became a dull grayish pink. Being asked to eat less sweets to her was like being asked not to eat sweets at all anymore, though it would probably be good for her health in Twilight's point of view. It's surprising that throughout all the time that she has known Pinkie Pie she has never even gotten any cavities from all that sugar.
Twilight thought to herself, 'The news is probably killing her! Telling Pinkie to eat less sugar was like telling her not to even eat in the first place'.
"Pinkie?", Twilight called to her friend.
The now devastated Pinkie Pie looked up at Twilight with eyes wet with tears and her mouth shaking. It looked like she was about ready to give up holding back herself from crying. This was probably the saddest she has ever been and it broke Twilight's heart to see one of her best friends like this, but it couldn't be helped.
"I'm sorry Pinkie but it's for your own good".
Pinkie looked down to stare at the floor. "I know", she admitted. "But it doesn't make it sound any less worse".
