If you haven't read Concerning Ponies, that would be a good place to start (though it is not necessary to read in order to understand the story). 1,000 years ago, before the reign of King Sombra, the Crystal Empire, then a nation old, beaten, and dying, was at war with Maredor: A massive, merciless Empire ruled by a mysterious dark queen. Defeat for the Crystal Ponies is inevitable, but one stallion will risk everything to save his foster home. But can you risk too much? Even if it means saving the ones you love?
